Never a worry with Smile Hotel”
I chose to stay at Asakusa Smile Hotel simply because it offered a low-price room in Tokyo for a solo traveller like myself. As I'd paid so little for a room in a decent location, I had low expectations for my accommodation. However, everything a good hotel could provide was provided, and the staff spoke working English and were very helpful. The station is a 10-minute walk away, but this was not personally inconvenient. Smile Hotel was what a low-budget hotel should be - it was a reliable place to return to every night after days out in Tokyo, and was a positive part of my time abroad. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for an inexpensive but comfortable hotel in Tokyo, and is willing to walk a little way to the station (previous reviewers had marked this out as a major problem, though I found the walk less lengthy than expected).

Best Value”
I booked this hotel in advance and got their cheapest rate for a double room with private bath. The room is not that big but cozy. They make-up the room everyday and provide toiletries with complimentary tea. The staff are nice - lend us weighting scale for our luggage - and they even have a laundry area which is a plus for me. The hotel is a bit far from Asakusa Station but still walkable. There is a bus #12 from Tokyo Station that stops infront if you dont want to walk. I haven't found any other hotel that would beat this with the price and location - walkinh distance to Skytree, Sumida Park, Sensoji Temple, Kaminarimon and Nakamise Shopping Street. There is also a nearby Don Quijote. There are convenience stores like Lawson and Mini Stop nearby and some awesome ramen places. And oh, it's also a couple of stations away from Ameyoko, Akihabara and Tokyo Stations where cheap shopping areas are located. The only cons I can think of? They don't have free bottled water or water dispenser and you have to buy everytime or refill in train stations and restaurants which are also safe anyway. I will book this hotel again if I can and recommend it to friends. Thank you Smile Hotel. 🙂

Great room but far from any subway stations”
Nothing much to be complaining for sucha spacious room, it fitted a closet, a dressing table, a queensize, a bath.. everything you can ask for a good stay.. Room is accompanied with LAN cable to go online, if you need wireless/WI-FI, get your ass to the lobby, ask the staff for the password and sit at the couch for as long as you surf.. Housekeeping ends at 1pm, so better to get out before that or you can jolly well skip that.. The hotel staff really call to enquire if you need housekeeping or not, they won't hang up until you answer.. lolll, i treated them as my 'morning' call before I head out.. There's a lawson/convenient store across the junction.. Restaurants close before 8.30pm so better settle dinner before that, or else lawson can be your next bestfriend.. Also, if you can get a map of asakusa district, you can find your way to the temple and a shopping street just around the corner, say maybe 10 minutes walk.. It's a touristy area, and gets populated every weekends, extremely!! How do you get to the hotel, if you travel to Haneda airport, take the keikyu express line direct to asakusa, about 40~60minutes. You must alight at Asakusa station of the Asakusa/Toei line, exit A5 facing the street turn left and keep walking straight.. You will pass the next big 4 road junction, that's exactly the tourist/temple attraction area, you will also meet a big shopping mall Matsuya and another train station by tokyo metro, TOBU line.. Cross over and head straight on the right of Matsuya, you will see Macdonalds on the opposite side of the road.. Walk stright until you meet another big 5 road junction, you can see Tokyo next big attraction SKY TREE. Cross the road again, keep walking straight you will see the hotel, it's about a 20~30mins walk.. It's horrendous to by dragging all your luggage to the hotel, so as much as I know, good luck!!

Best value for money in Tokyo and a great view”
I stayed in some other hotels in Tokyo before, but this one was the first where I stayed more than one night, actually until I left Tokyo, because it was the one with the best value for money I could find. The staff is really kind, they helped me to find ATMs, 7 Eleven stores, if you have any problem you can ask them. And the Skytree view of my room was so amazing, I could take better photos of it from my room than directly at the Skytree or on the streets, and I enjoyed that view every day. The Asakusa metro station is not too far away as well as McDonald's and KFC. So in Tokyo I would always stay at that hotel, but my advise is to book early enough, otherwise the room rate could be higher. The only negative thing is the early check-out time on 10 am and the late check-in on 15 pm, but it seems that's normal in Japan.

Great room, great price, great staff”
I had a great stay at the Smile Hotel, the staff was very helpful. Yes it's a 10 minute walk to the Metro but it's a beautiful walk, the new TV tower is always in sight. The Temple is about the same distance and is a must see. If you like sushi try the place by the bridge where you can ride the river boat (great fish, great price) also take the boat ride it's very interesting. I have been to Tokyo many times and Asakusa is my favorite place to stay (happy 700th Birthday Asakusa)

Welcoming Staff but Far from the Train Station”
The best thing about this hotel are the staff and the breakfast. The staff are all smiles when they greet you and they are really helpful. If the focus of youe trip is the Sensoji temple and the Tokyo Skytree then this place is ideal. However, I do not recommend it for exploring other parts of Tokyo. It is a 10-15 minute walk to Asakusa Station. This hotel was difficult to reach because we had heavy luggages. I recommend taking advantage of the bus stop infront of the hotel. From Tokyo Station, go to the Yaesu North Exit Bus Station and find Bus Stop 12. Get off at Asakusa 7 (I can't remember the exact name).

Friendly Staff”
if you want peace and quiet and away from the crowd i highly recommend this hotel. the staff are helpful and greets you with a smile. sensoji temple is only 2 blocks away, there's tokyo tower, sumida park and cruise. there's a convenience store across the street or if you are coming from asakusa station stop by matsukaya dept. store and pick up dinner (bento) at a reduced price. also, asakusa is convenient to both airports.

Great location. Fantastic cleaning staff.”
Location was perfect as it was close to points of interest such as the Tokyo Skytree and Senso-ji Temple. Though it was a bit of a walk from the Asakusa station on the Ginza line, I'd say the area was still perfect for us as not only was it close to tourist spots, but also interesting places to grab a bite--from convenience stores like Lawson and 7 Eleven to little eateries and restaurants where locals eat. Hotel was quite rundown, but well-kept. I especially love that the cleaning staff were diligent at making the room every day. Bed was great; it was a bummer though, that they didn't give out extra pillows even for a fee. Overall, it was a great experience staying in Smile. I'd book with them again!

Warm welcome, good service, clean and cheap”
it is a good choice for staying in tokyo and seeing around. it is safe and clean area. hotel staff can speak english so easily to communicate. there is lawson nearby the hotel. so you can buy a quick and cheap meal, drink or any other things you need in your travelling. there are a few good sight seeing points that you can walk such as asakusa temple.after asakasuks temple you can find many shops for foods and souvenirs that you can enjoy with it. on the way from asakusa station to hotel you can see tokyo sky tree, the new landmark of tokyo. only one bad point is that it is difficult to find the hotel if you arrive in the night time.

pros: quiet neighbourhood, Lawson conbini across the street, close to Sensoji temple and Nakamise shopping street, Sumida River Park, as well as Tokyo Skytree, direct access to Narita or Haneda Airport thru Keisei direct access line. cons: bathroom is a bit small, but toiletries and towels were regularly filled and replaced. 5 to 10 minutes walk to Asakusa station but lots of small leather shops to see and some IG-worthy back alleys, or you can just take the Bus no. 42 to and from hotel.

This hotel provides all the basics you are looking for in a great location. ”
This hotel is located in walking distance from Sensoji Temple and weekend markets, which are both popular for tourists and locals. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the Asakusa subway stop on the Ginza line. The staff were friendly and could speak English. Bags could also be stored at the hotel if it was not check in time. The room was basic and what you would expect. Breakfast was also reasonably priced and offered both Western and local dishes. I would be happy to stay here again.

Excellent”
Difficult to walk to the hotel to many exits at Asakusa train exit. We took the taxi and it cost us only 490 yen which is cheap about AUD 7.00. The Sumida Park is just across the hotel a 5 mins walk and the Tokyo Sky tree is close to hotel also 5 mins walk.Lawson supermarket is just across the hotel where you can get milk n snacks. Staff can speak English and was helpful with answering our questions.

nice hotel”
Hotel is conveniently located within attractions in Asakusa like the Sensoji temple and the Sumida river. But be prepared for walking to and from the hotel and the train station. The hotel is clean and we were lucky to have had a view of the Tokyo Skytree from our room. There are also convenient stores and food spots nearby. Recommended place to stay in Asakusa area.

i gave 5 stars to smile hotel asakusa. however the staff should be knowledgeable to the area of concern...meaning how to go to a place the shortest way possible be it riding a bus or train without spending time taking a long walk.

Great location, typical Japanese rooms”
the hotel is in a really great location. it's about a 20 minute walk from the recently opened tokyo sky tree. it's 10 minutes from asakusa station which can get you to anywhere in the city. the location is great because it's close proximity to the train station makes it close to everything, but far enough away that you can get a good nights rest. there's free wifi in the lobby, but the lobby is super small and not really a friendly place, so i would only use it if you need to check a quick email or web check-in for a flight. staff is friendly enough. the breakfast they serve is expensive 840 yen for food that doesn't look very tasty, plus it ends at 9:30, so if you get in late, you probably wont get up in time to eat. there is a lawson right across the street and a 7-11 about a half mile away. if you're staying here for more than a few days, bring a cheap power strip to charge your electronics. there aren't very many outlets. worst part of the hotel is that there is a constant, faint cigarette smoke smell in the room.

Worth the stay”
The hotel offers value for your money. Quite far to train station but manageable...it has bus stop in front of the hotel. There's available convenient store near to the hotel. Near to tourist spots around asakusa like tokyo sky tree and sensoji temple.

Above Average ”
**Pros** Close to Asakusa Station and a great riverside park. Close to two convenient stores. (LAWSON, 7-11) Only a station away from the famous Tokyo Sky Tree. **Cons** The vending machines installed within the hotel are quite limited in terms of selection for the merchandise. WIFI Service is only provided in the lobby.

VERY SATISFYING! Nice hotel”
We are a group of 5 people staying in Tokyo for about 3 days. We got a total of 3 rooms - 1 room for me and my husband so we can have our own privacy. Our room was neat, smells nice and we both loved how the comfort room looks like. We were not in the room most of the time, but having a nice place to crash in at night is something to look forward to of course. There are convenience stores across the street if you need to grab a quick bite. Vicinity was safe and quiet, too. Only thing was this hotel is not that near the train station, but is still walking distance. It was overall a short, yet very satisfying stay at this hotel. Highly recommended! Will come back here when in Tokyo.
