    Smiling all the way home”

Beautiful room and facilities, very friendly staff and drivers, good value, great breakfast buffet, great location
no internet in rooms and internet room only has 4 PCs, showers are crammed

We were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. They upgraded our room on check-in to a suite. Room was large with separate sitting, sleeping, and bathroom. Modern features in room. Pool was wonderful the in heat. Internet room has fast connection, but only 4 PCs and I had to wait on several occasions. Staff was very friendly both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Hotel is huge! You can see it from miles away. Very impressive traditional Khumar architecture. Good location about 10 minutes from Angkor. Just on the edge of town. We had excellent drivers that were employed by the hotel all three days for our tours of the ruins and surrounding area. They were very cheap (same as the going street rate, and you know they are reputable). Our tuk tuk driver (tuk tuks are perfect for Siem Reap) was named and he was excellent. He eventually became our friend and we intend on keeping in touch with him. I would ask by name when you arrive. All in all, Smiling Hotel was perfect for us and left a very good impression on us. Highly recommended. I met some German's at the Thai border and recommended this place to them as they were traveling to Siem Reap.

Best time we had in Cambodia”

The staff were so incredibly friendly and more than willing to help out with any problem we had. The hotel was always clean and we were very comfortable all the time. The cocktails were also fantastic!

We had a fantastic time at Smiling Hotel. We liked it so much we extended our stay a couple of days! Everything about the hotel is excellent but what impressed us most was the staff. Their attitude and friendliness were what made the stay a standout. We would go back to Smiling just to say hi! The hotel is a little far from the central entertainment area but this was never a problem because the hotel has tuk tuk drivers ready to take us anywhere. Ours was Mr. San who was such a sweet accommodating person to be around. It was a relief to have him and not need the pushy tuk tuk drivers in town actually. He was trustworthy and took us to amazing places we hadn't thought to go! Unfortunately when we were there the spa and sauna were out of order for maintenance but the massages were great. Also, similar to the previous readers comments, we were upgraded to the executive suite once we checked in! All in all it was a top hotel for very good value and we will stay there again when we return to Siem Reap!

The staff make it live up to its name”

Very helpful staff. Pleasantly low key despite its size

recognisable across siem reap by its pagoda roof, the hotel has an air of lethargy which hides an efficient regime. the staff and management are extremely accommodating (eg they picked up the cost after a tuktuk misunderstanding). the hotel restaurant has nicer food than its emptiness would suggest. it is fairly priced. the swimming pool is quiet and well served by a bar alongside, and another restaurant (for breakfasts). we all go to siem reap for angkor wat and the hotel is very good at making arrangements for this ($15 for tuktuk, for guide - which is worthwhile, if only to be taken along the less trampled path) we must be the first people in history to downgrade ourselves. some of the a/c is getting old - and can't cope with a large room. ...it was a shame to leave behind a lovely room in order to get cooler

    Fantastic Value”

Friendly staff; large rooms; clean bathrooms; great swimming pool; good breakfast; good bar; nice spa
    None

I suppose that you could pay more for a hotel in Siem Reap, but why? The Smiling Hotel has a friendly, helpful staff. We booked a suite. The room was very large; the bathroom was extremely nice. We spent our afternoons in the lovely pool area ordering inexpensive drinks from the bar. The buffet breakfast was a fantastic assortment of Asian and Western treats including fresh tropical fruit and made-to-order eggs and noodle soup. Every night we relaxed with a pleasant massage from the spa. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the downtown area where the restaurants are and there is always a fleet of tuk-tuks sitting in front of the hotel to take you anywhere you want to go.

    Left me smiling”

An accommodating staff, clean rooms, great breakfast, and proximity to the local market. Free Internet in the business center.
The spa was not complete (though they were able to call in a masseuse. No free Internet in rooms.

My friends and I were thrilled with our choice of the Smiling Hotel and Spa for our stay in Siem Reap. The staff made us feel welcome, with good English skills and an eye for service. The hotel is very well equipped. The rooms and facilities were very clean. The staff allowed us to eat breakfast late at no additional cost after we finished the half marathon. We felt like we were the only guests at times, but that may be due to the large size and the number of people leaving early in the morning to see the temples. You have to take a short tuk tuk ride to town and there is no Internet in the rooms, but otherwise this is a win-win choice.

Only con is its not close to the city center

everything at the hotel was wonderful. breakfast buffet was great, hotel staff always helpful and smiling, rooms were very clean, and just fantastic service. our guide did not show up on the first day and the hotel found as fantastic guide and car for our time in siem reap. if you want to go into the city center for dinner and shopping.... take a tuk tuk. they will take you in and arrange to pick you up at a particular time. for a very cheap price.

A Great Hotel that needs more attention!”

In room massage; breakfast; quality service from the front desk

smiling hotel was a great hotel to stay at in cambodia. it's truly a hotel that gives customers a 5-star stay even if all the facilities weren't complete. they made sure we were comfortable and provided us information for all the local places and did not try to scam us on anything. room service was great and so were the massages. i would say the only downfall was that the pool wasn't ready when we were there and it seemed like a ghost hotel when we got there, but i guess there were tour buses on tour and many of the hotel guests weren't there when we were. otherwise, highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in siem reap.

The staff was helpful, courteous, always cheerful and quick to respond to questions and problems. After the first night, we decided to book a 3rd night! Siem Reap is a great town, lots to see and do! This was not the first time that we traveled to Siem Rieap visiting Angor Wat. Each and every time it was not always easy for us to find the right place to stay. Many Smiles at the Smiling Hotel”

The inside of the hotel exceeded all my expectations. The staff were cheerful. Has all of the amenities of fancier hotels: free bottled water, slippers, in-room safe and poolside bar. Quite frankly there is no need to leave. I was so delighted that I extended my 5 day stay to 10 days. The hotel was so delighted with my extension that they upgraded my room!
Construction around pool is creating noise but that will soon disappear.

The hotel is not located in the tourist zone, so if you are hoping to pop out for lunch, or to pick up supplies it is difficult. The upside is that the Lower Market is nearby and there is plenty of street food to try. Siem Reap town is an easy 10 minute tuk-tuk ride away. I was completely satisfied and would stay there again.

Room is big, staffs very polite, swimming pool nice.
No aircon on the lobby n corridor outside the rooms. Aircon in the room also cannot make it, the lowest room temperature it can go is only 24degree.

Overall the hotel was cheap, clean, nice and the room is big. The breakfast so-so, but still acceptable. The swimming was nice, staff was polite and helpful when approach them. Location wise, was around 10min ride from town and rd 30min ride from airport. there izit much hygience and nice food around the hotel. I do find ants in my room near the basin and 2 of my stuff, but the other rooms did not have this problem. A groups of us stay in smiling hotel on end feb, the weather was extremely hot. The only undurable thing was the room aircon was not working well. Even thou the temperature had been set to the lowest 16F, but the maximum room temperature it can go is 24degree(after a few hrs). Room temperature can goes up to 31degree when the sun shine into the room. If this is not a big matter to u,smiling hotel will be a gd choice for ur stay in siem reap.

great hotel but far from the tourist area”

nice architecture and good services with bargain price

i picked Smiling Hotel because of the price and the rating. For the price, it's worth the trip and the time. The rooms are beautiful, huge, twice the size of other hotels. The front desk and hotel people are wonderful. They served with a smile and provided the best services comparable to a 4-star hotel. The breakfast is great. They don't check your meal tickets like other hotel. The swimming pool is a nice place to cool yourself on a hot day. I wished they had a jacuzzi but they don't have one. Overall, I have no complaints and wish to stay there again. The only problem with the hotel is its location. We walked for 3 km to find a restaurant for dinner. It's better to stay in or near the tourist areas.

We didn't really know what to expect when we arrived at the Smiling Hotel and Spa but we were very pleasantly surprised! Room size, staff friendliness, location

I had read many good things about this place, and they were all correct. As with many other reviewers, we got a free upgrade upon arrival. The breakfast was very good for a hotel breakfast, and the rooms and hotel were clean and nice. The best thing was the staff, though - super friendly, very helpful, always smiling. The hotel is right at the end of the road that takes you to the temples, so it was a great location for us. A very easy tuk tuk ride into town when you want to shop or eat, too.
