Great Location & Nice Room”

Good Location, Clean Room, Friendly Staff

My friend and I went to Chiang Mai for Songkran Holiday. We are looking for hotel or hostel with great location and can walk to many places , pretty new have clean room not too expensive. Finally I decided to pick So Hostel. This is the best choice for us. We had really great time and was so much fun in Chaing Mai. We had new friends from many countries cuz we were the same hotel and hotel let us played water in front of hotel. Staff are friendly. If you want to walk to Night Bazar or walking street you can do it so easy too.

Great Stay, fun & upbeat style”

Convenient, Comfortable, Clean

We just needed a place to sleep & keep our things while we were out & about enjoying Chiang Mai & surrounding area. It was a perfect choice for us (we don't need luxury). We did not cook in the kitchen, but enjoyed the clean, open space to eat snacks & visit. Our room was just big enough to sleep in/ shower & store our belongings. Our beds were tidied up & clean towels brought in each day. Staff was friendly & helpful. Multiple places to eat within walking distance. Easy walking distance of Night Bazaar, but not noisy. Overall we were very happy with this choice, especially as the low price allowed us to spend our money on other things. Our only dislike was a sulfur odor coming in the windows especially at night. They did burn incense in the hall in the evenings which helped mask the odor.

Big and clean hostel”

rooms, location, staff

The hostel is really nice. Very big, with clean rooms and bathrooms. It is really modern and well located, just 5 minutes away by walk of the old city of Chiang Mai and the Night Bazaar. You can also find cheap food places around the hostel street, as well as travel agencies were you can book treks, tours or whatever you want to do

Awesome hostel. Brand new in a great location”

Everything is new and clean. Have washing machine and dryer

Great hostel within the walls of Chiang-Mai. The hostel is newly built, so everything is new and is a pleasant change to wondering the olden city. Great common areas, and they have washing machine and dryer. Cheap to use, and a good break and cleanse during weeks of travel. Staff are friendly. Only thing I didn't like was the internet connection. It is a http login, thus everytime your ipad or phone goes to stand-by, the connection is lost, and having to relogin is very annoying!

Hostel but like a hotel”

Very nice hostel in Chiang Mai. It's located very close to the night bazar, what is very convenient because you'll probably go there more than once. The double room with private bathroom is very good so nothing to complain. Note: bring your repellent because the mosquitos are everywhere in Chiang Mai, even inside the room.

Very new and hip, staff very friendly and storage for a week was a plus

Very new hostel that very closely resembled a hotel. Located near the night bazaar, easy access to shopping and eating. Stayed in a twin room with a friend, shower did not have hot water but the staff were very quick to address it. Also, free storage for a week so it's great if you're traveling somewhere outside Chiang Mai and returning.

the staffs are kind and location is good

the price is a bit higher compare to other cheap hotels and guest houses but it's close to Night Bazaar so safe for women to walk around at night. The best thing I liked most was the room condition, it's really clean and mostly white decorated. If I visit Chiangmai, I will stay here again. Strongly recommened if you don't care the price.

Totally fine!”

Good location, was here during chiang mai, most of it on walking distance or cheap taxi jeeps / tuctucs, decent rooms, clean beds, matrass was good to for a hostel, big lockers, proper bathroom facilities, a big lounge area and you can use the kitchen. The two things that weren't there were the local feeling (it's a big building with 9 floors) and there was no breakfast facilities (they have free coffee and then, and fridge with some drinks and some snacks though) but there are loads of places around the hostel to have your breakkie! And it was way cheaper to book in front with agoda than to book/extend the room at the desk! And the private rooms look really decent too, bit more expensive though!

Location. Design/ambience. Comfortable n clean rooms

Very satisfied. Will definitely stay again if coming to chiangmai. Love everything soho has got to offer. Tho many comments abt the staff not the friendliest lot, but to me it is fine as I only deal with staff for check in check out and some queries..the staff may not be smiling but they were not rude. So I feel it is unfair if unfriendly is considered as rude. They are rather helpful actually. For such a good hostel, I hope they maintain it we'll so that guests can find the same good hostel when they visit chiangmai again. I started seeing some rundowns eg wifi not working, elevator out of service, toaster not working when I check in again on the 3rd jan. Really hope they will maintain soho well.

clean and spacious room near night market”

clean room, spacious room, near shopping

I enjoyed my stay at So Hostel. It is a very big hostel. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable with a nice blanket, unlike thin sheets you usually get at hostels. I stayed in the 6 bed, female room and there was a lot of space with a private locker. The bathrooms were clean however there was no soap and the toilet paper is hanging outside of the bathroom so you have to grab some before you go in. that is pretty inconvenient if you forget. The staff isn't overly friendly but they listen to you and get the job done. You can walk to the night market or any number of bars and cheap massage places in practically seconds.

If you need to save money”

If you are travelling as backpacker and need to save money while having a place which is strategic enough, So Hostel is recommended. The location is within walking distance to Tha Pae gate, Ping river, Night Bazaar, and night market. Perfect for shopping or enjoying all the wetness of Songkran festival. What's best is, the road to So Hostel is accessible despite of road block of Songkran, therefore easy to travel around with taxi or tour shuttle. 711 or non branded convenience store are nearby so it is easy to get stuffs. ATM is right in front of the hostel in case you need extra money. The only downside is the bathroom. Shower water pressure is very weak, and there is no drainage outside the shower pod.

Unique location, Friendly staff, Near to old city

I enjoy staying here as the hostel environment is more like a home to me as compared to hostel, you can cook yourselves here but only minor cooking of course, can make your own coffee here and there's a swing there and u can enjoy the night scenery at the same time, it is quite windy at night which i love the most, and this hostel provide a big common area for travelers from all around the world to hang out with each other! One incident i encountered here which i found is quite funny is that one guy from united kingdom bring a local girl back here for....and the girl refuse to come in because she saw the other sleeping inside there and eventually they settle outside perhaps? for your information there's is one pub street beside the hostel which is a good place if you want to find someone to hook up but not for me of course! Not interested with that!haha

Great stay overall”

Deco, location, price

I liked my stay at Soho. Unfortunately I had a couple of people in my room who were always really loud, having parties in the room and then leaving all the bottles and trash in the room. Some bottles got broken, there was blood on the floor. This was not the hostel's fault at all, it was just my bad luck. The beds were comfy and had my own light and outlet which was great. The key card stopped working randomly and had to keep going to reception to re-programme it. The wifi kept disconecting and you have to be putting in the unique password for your device every time which was very annoying. Location was great I though, and the feel of the hostel is very boutiqueish. Will stay there again when I'm back in Chiang Mai

Location, options for tours, cleanliness

The hostel was pretty contemporary and had a nice common area to relax in. There were also a lot of touring brochures and activities info available at the reception area for perusal. The staff are ok, not overly nice yet not overly arrogant. I stayed here mainly because of the location, it was well within walking distance to the night bazaar and tuk tuk & seong taew drivers in the area are plentiful so it is easy to catch one to get to other places in Chiang Mai.
