    Small, but a special hotel.”
A small hotel (only 5 rooms) on the outskirts of Nong Khai. The hotel had its own spesial charm and service which was incredibly service-minded.

    Relaxing hotel”
    Beside the river
nice little hotel with only 5 rooms. one set back is that there isn't any tv inside the room but they do have a unit design for the toilet and rooms. service is excellent. if it is the first time you are going there, when you use google map, you need to trust the map as you need to open your eyes to look for it as the entrance door is a small one. you can see the friendship brigde from this hotel.

Great Service, Bang on the River, Cute Hotel”
Lovely Decor, Great Service, River View, Staff
As soon as we arrived we were made very welcome by the staff and the owner. The hotel is DIRECTLY on the river offering great views of the river Mekong. The hotel has 5 bedrooms, so it is a boutique hotel. The decor is fantastic (because the owner went to art school). Everybody talks excellent English. You get a choice of 4 menus for breakfast, but they appear to be very flexible if you want something changed. Travel distance to city center is about 5 minutes by tuk tuk (local taxi) or motorbike.

A diamond in Nong Kai, realy great”
Nice location direct on the Mae Kong river, lovely decorated hotel with a unique designed garden. The costumers are treated like a King or Queen,
We only stayed here two nights, but in fact that was not enough, because we loved the ambiance and service and fall in love with this hotel. If you like a nice decorated hotel, comfortable rooms and a quiet place to stay, then this is the hotel of your choice. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinners in the beautiful garden with the view on the river. Staff is so friendly and will help you with anything, nothing is to much for them and all of them speak English very well.

Small hotel, but nice. Very nice !”
Wonderfully friendly owner and staff, beautifully and quietly situated at the shore of the Mekong
wonderful little hotel a little bit outside of the centre of nong khai. quiet and peaceful. very stylish house and garden, built to the visions of the owner of the house. the owner and staff do anything to make the visitor feel as being a part of the family. the owner speaks english very well, due to a long stay overseas. the food that this hotel serves is also a1 ! you´ll get specialties from thailand in common, the isaan in special, from laos, from vietnam...... as well for breakfast as for dinner. high quality. when you like loud music, many bars in the vicinity and nightlife as you know it from phuket, pataya of bangkok, this is definitely not the hotel of choice for you. when you like the view on the gentle flowing mighty river mekong, when you like it being treated as a good friend of the family, when you like it being, when you like it quiet, watching catfishes in the water oder precious plants growing on trees - then this house should be your first choice when staying in nong khai. i give this house 5 stars.

    An oasis of Thai hospitality”
Beautifully decorated, warmth, personalised service, great views of Mekong, cosy.
the owner tiger is a remarkable host, eager to ensure our stay was well catered to. we were impressed by the rooms, each designed differently and the ones upstairs facing the river is probably the best. check out the outdoor bali style bathrooms. the food is also very impressive and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. downside is its a bit far from town unless you have your own transport.

Nice enough, but maybe think twice”
It's a good 30-minute walk to the main section of town. And kind of spendy for a place that doesn't include breakfast. The coffee bar is nice in the lobby (but it doesn't really open until 8 am or so, well after I am wanting my first coffee). Also, there only seemed to be hot water in the sink and shower, which isn't great after a long hot walk when you really just want to cool down!

Overpriced basic hotel with no amenities and unhelpful staff. ”
On entering the Sofa Gallery, I found it enchanting and very appealing to the eye. A member of staff showed us to our rooms and this is where things deteriorated. No coffee or tea in the room, no breakfast and no tv in two of them. While the bed linen was clean the room itself was not, bathrooms had damp everywhere and showers that would not drain away. The hotel itself is situated some distance from central nong khai and when we asked for assistance from the lone staff member for transport, we were told we could find some ourselves down the road. Bearing in mind we occupied four out of the five rooms the service and amenities did not equate to the amount of money paid for them.

A hotel to be loved and hated”
Location on the riverbeds of Mekong and nicely decorated rooms, together with the owner who is bellboy, cleaner, manager, waiter and on site artist is the positive things with the hotel.
The stay was a mixed experience. Outdoor bathroom is not the right thing along the mosquito infested areas of Mekong. Not when you have the type of blood that attracts mosquitos. There is also advertised that the hotel have a swimmingpool. Our daughter was disseapointed when she was seeing the pool. It was filled with green algea soup. The owner who is a spiritual person should inform that this is a pool that si built to please the serpent Naga. A Thai person will see this, - a foreigner will only see a dirty pool. In the early morning, walking down to river, I had to rescue a large rat that had fallen in to the pool during the Night. I could not stand to see the poor animal suffering. (I will normal kill rats). The owner is a unique person. It is difficult to say anything negative about the "hotel". He is working hard doing his best to please the guests. The rooms is nicely decorated, and the "hotel" has lots of charm. The numerous nice flower decorations makes it different from any hotel I have stayed before. This is a hotel which is perfect for young couples who appreciate somthing that is different from streamlined chain hotels. But for people loved by mosquiotos and who needs a bar and restaurant onsite, a swimmingpool and other amenities..this is not the hotel. Price is also a bit high. I believe the occupancy would be better if lowered by a third. There is five room, - and we were the only guest. We paid 400 baht extra to Upgrade to a room with riverview, putting the total at around 1850 baht. For that price a lot more comfort, but less orginality is available in Nong Khai. I have lived parts of the year in Thailand for the last 13 years. This was the most interesting out of hundreds of hotels I have lived in. Still, - I will choose another hotel on my next trip to Nong Khai.

    Beautiful Hotel”
    location, design, staff
wonderful concept and beautifully designed hotel right on the Mekong & Khun Max was fantastic running the show. Could do with a bit of money investing; paint falling off stained walls, beds/pillows uncomfortable & hard to know if water feature was a swimming pool (right size) or a pond (right colour) But all in all highly recommended, hopefully when we return it would have had a lick of paint!

    Peaceful surroundings and attentive staff!”
Quite, comfortable bed and an amazing breakfast.
We had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. We wanted somewhere quite and overlooking the river, this hotel ticked all the boxes. The staff were fantastic,so polite and helpful. We had a wonderful nights sleep, the bed was big and comfortable. Our breakfast was served to us in the beautiful garden overlooking the Mekong river. The breakfast was so delicious,we had fresh fruit, juice, fresh bread rolls, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, northern thai sausage, toast and tea and coffee. We would highly recommend this gorgeous little boutique hotel,we will definitely be back. Thank you to Rung and Max for looking after us so well. Shannon & David

    Rough around the edges”
View from Restaurant, nice lobby design, friendly staff
Too rough around the edges to justify the price. Moldy towels, unscreened vent meant lots of mosquitos in room. Front room has traffic noise. Not in main area of town, so a bit hard to find. Friendly staff, but substandard breakfast.

    pleasant and relaxing”
artistic appearance and interesting architecture with a beautiful garden and very friendly staff
it was relaxing and enjoyable with a great view of the meekong river and the breakfast was varied and good with a relaxed approach as it is a small hotel with 5 rooms there was no rush and very personal service. The swimming pool was in fact a fish pond and not available for swimming but it looked very nice framed by the doorway and followed by the view of the meekong. I enjoyed the stay there but would probably choose a more practical place as there were some things like the bathroom and door and swimming pool that looked very nice but did not work as well as they could for the price paid.

    Lovely small boutique hotel”
    lovely features nearby the river
Our stay at the hotel was quite ok. It seemed that we were the only customers there during our stay! As a boutique hotel, it was lovely with all cute decoration and features. However, the mattress was a bit too hard and the bathroom was not so convenient without the wall! We had small child and were worried that we would disturb other customers when he screamed in the shower. Staff couldn't be found during the day though the welcome on the first day was very impressive. It made the place was too quiet. Location was not that good. Hotel was hard to find with a very small door. No parking and we had to park on the street. Nice view of Mae Khong river is a soothing.

    Absolutely a gem...lovely zen experience.”
The gardens and location on the water is lovely.
I am so grateful to have found this little gem . It's just outside the city limits so you will need to use the Tuk-tuks but I used the same one that picked me up at the bus station. The drivers did not try to rob you with unusual request for fares. My room was absolutely spotless and comfortable. There is no phone or tv., but everywhere you looked was art. This is not a holiday inn, so if that's what you want...stay home. They have a limited menu, and it is never exactly what you expected but everything I ate was so beautiful that I took a picture and very tasty.

We would describe this very small hotel as "cute", but not for us. The shower and toilet were "outside" on the balcony (with a canvas blind for privacy) with the mosquitoes. It is on a main road and was fairly noisy.

Way way out of town, too far.”
    Nothing really
If you like a mattress on the floor that has the comfort rating of concrete, and nothing else in the room to sit on or look at,then this is the place for you,to say it is basic is the understatement of the year,it is a 10 minute tuk tuk ride to get to the nearest bar/food,coming back in the dark you will be lucky to find the place as no one knows where it is, including the tuk tuk drivers, don't do it,stay elsewhere, you'll thank me.Saying that the staff at b'fast were lovely people, and the food was very good.

Very nice view of the river from the upstairs balconies, breakfast was also very good.
Staying at Sofa Gallery is more like staying at someone's home than at a hotel. Very friendly, attentive staff. Rooms are a little small, but very, very clean. Also, perhaps because the rooms are a little small, the A.C. units in the rooms work very quickly. It's also only a short walk to two very nice restaurants on the Mekong. It's in a quiet location outside of town, but only a couple of minutes by Tuk Tuk to the center of town. We enjoyed our stay here very much.
