Cheap standard accommodation in good location.”
When we arrived the wifi didn't work in our room as the router in reception doesn't stretch very far so a lot of the rooms must have this issue, we spoke to reception and they moved our room closer to the reception the next day when it became available, our wifi was much better after the move. The rooms were large with very big beds, although hard mattresses as usual. They were basic but clean and suited us fine as we were out most days. The location of the hotel is a quieter area of the island and in my opinion the closest beach to this resort wasn't the best, however the hotel rent out mopeds and I highly recommend getting one, you can zoom around the island with no trouble and get to all of the nice beaches and restaurants that you want. There are very high steep roads on the island though so be cautious if you're not a confident rider! It was great that this hotel has a pool for such a cheap price of rooms, we loved coming back for a dip to cool down in the afternoon. All in all I would stay at the Sofia garden resort again, the staff were helpful and friendly and it had everything we needed for a low cost.
Nice stay with good value”
We booked standard room for two people and then we had additional one more in last minute. We asked the reception to add extra bed and the cost of that. But very fortunately, the kind lady at the reception gave us the deluxe room with one king bed and one single bed without any extra charge. The place is okay to go around the beaches. We had not tried the pool but it looked clean and nice. If you are on budget, I recommend sofia garden resort. The wifi is okay.
Small but nice rooms”
The Sofia Garden Resort offers, nice and clean rooms in Klong Prao, however the resort has no direct access to the beach and one needs to find the access by oneself. The staff is friendly but partially lacks knowledge of English and thus cannot help you with difficult questions. The breakfast is tasty and you have a variety of choices but it is nothing special.
The cleanest hotel I seen in thailand!”
We stayed for 3 nights in Sofia , incredible clean place, every day the cleaners go over the room, clean linen, spray the rooms, make beautiful designs with your towels( once they add my glasses to a beautiful rabbit towel!!) They cut flowers from the garden, knock on the door and gave us a bunch to us!! Best friendly cleaners ever! Well done Sofia!! Beautiful clean pool, security at night! Cons if any , Internet only works on the reception
Love this place!”
Extended my stay again, like I did last year too. No complaints whatsoever. Thai-style resort with beautiful well taken care garden and a huge big pool, by which I spend my days just relaxing. Close to the beach, if you prefer, just 5 min walk. Close to supermarkets, restaurants and the main road, if you like to grab a taxi to explore. What I like most is the staff and the owner, who all make you feel like home. Genuinely friendly and helpful. Will return. That is if I ever leave, 😁
I went to Koh Chang in peak season near Christmas. Hotel is comfortable and the location is also on the main road. There are a few convenience stores and other shops nearby. Fixed beakfast was good. Better to hire a motobike (though the road is quite steep at some place on the island.....drive very carefully) if you want to visit the great beaches of Koh Chang and other places on the island.
OK for the price”
the room at sofia garden resort was fairly grim but clean and the shower worked well and the water was hot. the beds were really really hard, it prevented us from sleeping properly. the hotel itself could have been a lot nicer, the grounds weren't particularly well kept, the pool looked fairly good. we were only there one night, so had little need to talk to staff and we didn't have breakfast there. the location isn't that great. it's quite a walk to the beach, although this isn't unusual for most places in koh chang. hiring a motorbike is really the only way to go. in summary, it wasn't that great but you can't expect much for 600 baht.
Cousteau, clean and Rooms where fine”
The hotel lies in the middle of the west coast, so a motorbike is required to get around. But no problem driving in Koh Chang because not so much traffic. Met a couple of guys using the Sanne and had a lot of great fun for that. The hotel is a perfect stay for a week or two with great shopping facilities just around the area and a great restaurant opposite the hotel.
large confortable rooms but problems with water”
we had a great time in Koh Chang , the room was large and very clean , daily towels etc...we did have some problems with the water.Pool water or the chlorine in it is of poor quality and therefore both my wifes and daughters hair became green..it did wash out but still not a pleasant experience. Also the water in the hotel has coper in it and leaves an orange stain and for some reason left my wifes blond hair with orange highlights.I must admit that i have not seen this with anybody else so she might have had a bad reaction.apart from that the staff was friendly and although the hotel is not on the beach , the beach is only a 10 minute walk away.
Nice hotell, not the best location”
Spent a week at this hotell, the rooms are very nice and clean with a good working air-condition. Breakfast can be baught not to expensive in the reception, western breakfast. The hotel has a pool area that is very nice and relaxing with shade / sun all day. The location is not that good though, it's in the middle of a small "town" and it's a quite a distance to any beach or anything else except restaurants, but if you want to relax, it's a perfect hotel.
Generally pleasant but a bit overpriced”
It was a pleasant stay overall. Hotel is a bit overpriced by Koh Chang standards. Design of the bathroom is a bit, well, simple. Not up to the european 3* standards.
Fantastic staff, super friendly place but really old rooms”
We booked a room for 3 pax but realised that the 3rd "bed" was a sofa bed when we arrived. The resort is very "rustic", rooms were super dated. It felt like we moved into somebody's grandparent's place. The resort def have seen better days and seems like it wasn't regularly maintained. The sheets were stained and had holes in it. The shower holder was already damaged and broke when we used it. We informed the reception and they repaired it within the day, all smiles. Our bathroom door was locked from the inside and the very resourceful lady came with a screwdriver and just broke it open with a smile. I loved the really easy going attitude and super friendly service but it worried me that it seemed like really common occurrence for them . And when we accidentally left our key in the room and we went to the reception to ask them to help to open the door,we were given a bunch of master keys for all the rooms with no staff following us, this made me really worried about the safety.
Keep on coming back”
And always extend my stay here. The staff, the garden and especially the big pool are the main pros. Plus the laidback feeling and cozy, comfy athmosphere. Highly recommended!
Impolite middle short hair staff so impolite”
The impolite one seems like on the day-shift, I have to say she loves turn eyes to the customers on this resort, I have never ever met such behavior like she did before, hope the resort owner should know that, cuz some of my friends were truly pissed of her stupid demeanor; otherwise, another lady on the 3pm shift, I have to say that she has a good demeanor to work for you for more people willingly to live in your resort. So glad that we had her to serve us so incredibly.
Basic Resort great value for money”
We had a big room with nice shower, refrigerator but hard beds even for asian standards:). The pool was nice and big and a beautiful beach nearby.
Excellent value for money, nice tidy complex”
We all really enjoyed our stay on Koh Chang and the accomdation was adequate and good value.
Poor Budget Priced Stay”
The Sofia Garden Resort was very disappointing, out-dated rooms, small bathroom, hard bed, no WiFi in room...this resort is VERY basic...problems with electricity and shower, staff not so helpful. Much better options elsewhere on the island.
A noisy disaster”
Ordered a de luxe room and shown to a dog kennel by a morose receptionist. We refused that 'room' and we were then shown to a balcony room. Not de luxe but at best there was a view of the pool. The balconies were just walkways for noisy drunken who kept up the noise until three in the morning. They also kept up their noise and driking in the Hotel foyer....mee and women alike! The hotel is a sick joke but is in keeping with Kho Chang which is a few miles of tatty bars and third rate restaurants, White Sands Beach is a myth. Whoever named it was hallucinating at the time. It's more like builders sand! Again a few retaraunts and a string of light bulbs aspire to making it a worthwhile beach. It doesn't work! In general, if your brain has been numbed and your standards are at rock bottom then Kho Chang and Hotel Sofia might just be worth a visit. There are far better places in Thailand than the Island of Kho Chang!!
Good hotel with big clean rooms. They was very friendly ”
Good hotel with big clean rooms. they were very caring and responsive in correspondence, quickly answered all questions.
Lots of Russian tourists everywhere. Nice clean place with a nice pool. Not close to the beach - about a 20 minute walk. Wi-fi would not connect in room, worked sporadically in the dining/ lobby area. Good value for the price. Good restaurant across the street.
