Excellent service and a great hotel in the city”

Wonderful staff, lovely rooms and great views over the old town

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. We were over to see The House of Dancing Water (which was excellent - though beware, we saw the 5pm show and it's nigh impossible to get a taxi afterwards at the City of Dreams. We waited an hour) and decided that we wanted to stay away from the Cotai strip as we have no interest in gambling. The Sofitel’s rooms looked gorgeous and fell into a reasonable price bracket so having booked it the night before, we made our way over after the show. Upon check-in, we were surprised and delighted to have our room upgraded when the staff learned that the trip was a late birthday present for my girlfriend, and our suite on the 17th floor was nothing short of superb. All we wanted was a room with a comfortable bed and a bath big enough for the two of us to unwind in after a long day, and our upgraded digs ticked both boxes off - and then some. Fantastic views from up high, as well. Having missed our dinner reservations at Fernando's (due to the hour-long taxi wait at the City of Dreams), we decided to instead dine at the hotel's Mistral restaurant, treating ourselves to the buffet spread - which was excellent. As the hotel is located conveniently in town, near the western shore of Macau's northern part, we decided to walk into Macau's historic town the next day and see the sights such as the Ruins of St Paul's and the historic fortress on the hill (which also contains the history museum and offers a gorgeous view of the surrounds, including the Sofitel's striking building) before heading home to Hong Kong in the afternoon. All in all, we had a lovely short stay in Macau - in no small part due to our plush room and the great service we enjoyed from all of the hotel staff - and would definitely choose to stay again at the Sofitel Macau on Ponte 16.

Incredible hotel in wonderful location with great ”

Rooms are larger than average with great views. Room service was prompt and the concierge were extremely helpful. Decor was 5* and understated as opposed to tacky.

As a surprise for my fiance I booked us in the Sofitel for a weekend of sight-seeing in Macau. The shuttle picked us up and as we drove through the back streets of Macau I was a little concerned that I had been conned. Once we arrived at the hotel we drove up a very ornate multi-storey where we were greeted by a helpful concierge and walked into the lobby where sparkling wine was being served to the sounds of a Jazz Trio. The Decor is very tasteful and quintessentially french in the sense it does not try to be a luxury hotel, it simply is!! We were directed to our room which turned out to be a Junior Suite overlooking the city and the beautiful eyesore that is the Lisboa. Our room was beautifully decorated with two bathrooms, a large front room and Queen size bed which was extremely comfortable. We ordered breakfast as room service and were pleasantly surprised to see a feast fit for a King being set out in our room!! The location is great if you enjoy strolling through the old city and being immersed in real Macau. Overall the Sofitel at Ponte 16 is well worth the money.

Great hotel which comes with excellent service”

Great location, very accessible

I've been to Macau twice and I always stay at The Venetian. It's a blessing in disguise that when I booked my hotel through Agoda their price is already sky-high, thus, prompting me to choose The Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. The rooms at The Venetian may be bigger than that of Sofitel but the value for money and excellent facilities and service provided by Sofitel makes it incomparable to the Venetian. In Sofitel, guests are treated like royalty and their employees go out of their way to satisfy their guests. Most of their employees understand and speak English, from the front desk, to the bar, the concierge, the room service, and even the housekeeping.

Excellent view of the city”

Every staff is helpful and polite
shops are limited inside the hotel

The room is not as big as I thought but it is clean and decent, especially the bathroom, it has bathtub with TV, shower area, separated toilet. The towels are clean and soft, the accessories provided is fine in quality, I can feel the sincerity of the hotel, it treats its clients as "VIP", thats really made the people stay there feel good. Yes, I highly recommend Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 Hotel to you if you go to Macau next time :) Oh, don't forget to take some photos at its balcony at 4/F,looked like you were really in Europe.

The room, the pool and the location

my husband and i stayed at the sofitel ponte 16 hotel to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. we really enjoyed our stay here, and having stayed in the venetian, the hyatt and the grand waldo in macau, the sofitel would be top of our list for a return visit to macau. the location of the hotel is great - just an easy 10 minute stroll into the main square and ruins of st pauls. service at check-in and check-out was excellent. i asked for a room on a high floor and we were given a lovely room on the 15th floor overlooking zhuhai. the room was beautifully furnished and had all the features you'd expect in a high end hotel. breakfast wasn't included in our package but that didn't matter - we took a short walk down to margaret's cafe da nata to sample her legendary portuguese tarts.

nice hotel in downtown of Macau to stay”

best location; convenient to see major sightseeing points

I really enjoyed staying at Ponte 16 Sofitel Macau last weekend. Since so many new hotels been built, I was worried to select this hotel. Because the hotel is alone itself in downtown Macau (The most famous ones, like the Venetian, Four Seasons, Banyan Tree, are in Taipa). But my concern was disappeared when I saw the hotel. It's the best location ever! Very close to St. Paul's and Senado Square (5-10 min. walking). Even you can go southwards where are there are the oldest confusciast temple and penya hill (has absolutely gorgeous view. The hotel room was nice and the staff were kind. But the club lounge managers were a little bossy. We enjoyed having evening cocktail and breakfast in club lounge.

Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 Hotel”

brand new hotel
none

The Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 Hotel is only one year old. The location is great and only less than 10-minute walk to the city center. I paid only 70 MOP from the airport to the hotel. The staff at this hotel were very helpful. We stayed from 23 to 25 October 2009 and had to check out at 11:00 am and left our luggage at the hotel and picked up in the evening before our flight. Again, staff were very helpful. This hotel is very clean. My room was perfect.

Amazing Stay”

warmth welcome, clean and world-class rooms, friendy staff

After getting lost where we had a non-scheduled city tour at 11PM, we were warmly and happily surprised by the fabulous welcome bed, rose petals all over the room and one of the best chocolates we have ever tasted. We informed the hotel when we booked that we will be celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary in Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. This hotel is so great that they took time and care to make sure we were welcomed and that we were given a good view of the harbor. We will definitely book in this hotel over and over again.

Great stay with excellent service”

We were luckily upgraded to a suite with access to the club lounge. Thanks so much for the delicated services provided by the team of Club Millesime, including Victor and Princess. We can enjoy unlimited serving of drinks and wine, afternoon tea set and delicious refreshments in specific time slot. Everything was great especially the special room decoration and gift from the hotel, that was macaron and chocolate, it was just too heartwarming as this was our pre-wedding celebration. Few types of pillows and bath products are complimentary for guest to use. Coincidentally there was a firework show in the harbour on that night, which we can see part of it in our room! Thanks again to Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 for giving me a memorable stay in Macau.

I would strongly recommend Sofitel Ponte 16 at Macau to all my friends and relatives for the pros as following: 1) Free Shuttle bus from HK-Macau Ferry Terminal to Sofitel Ponte 16 2) Within walking distance to St.Paul, Macau Museum, and Government Hall of Macau 3) There is a bus stop located just in front of the Hotel. 4) Michael Jackson Gallery 5) Easy Access to Restaurant and Food Stall 6) Few steps to Ponte 16 casino

Great weekend at Ponte 16”

Lovely room, view, pool, staff
Couldn't win at the casino! Ordering food at the pool is a bit cumbersome ... should have staff available. Should be able to order and eat at your chairs in a five star hotel.

We had a lovely three day stay at Sofitel Ponte 16 Macau. It was a great place to visit for a long weekend in Hong Kong. We bought Macau bus passes from the OK store and explored lots of places. The Concierge recommended a great Portuguese restauarant for our first night. The swervice and care at the hotel was very special ... but free wi-fi is expected in 5 star hotels these days and there seemed to be 'rules' for the pool ... re attire, drinks, food around the pool ... this needs to be attended to, to make for a perfect stay. We will definitely be back on our next long weekend.

Great Hotel in Macau!”

Comfort

we had a great experience in sofitel macau at ponte 16. everything in the room is good, especially the bed is so comfortable, we had a great sleep after a long walking journey in macau. we had a hard time to get a taxi, even the staff from the hotel keep helping us to call the taxi. but i think this is the problem of macau but not sofitel alone.

Excellent stay in Macau”

Good Location and Nice Room

I really enjoyed my stay in the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 Hotel. Location wise it's about a 10 - 15 min walk to many of the main tourist attractions in Macau including Senado Square and the Ruins of St Pauls. The rooms are big with a king size bed and one of the great things is that they provide l'occitane toiletries!

Resort feel in the middle of the city”

We love the relaxed/resort atmosphere of Sofitel, so rare in Macau. We also love the rich appointment of the hotel lobby and the service of the people in Sofitel. If there is something you go back to in Macau, it is Sofitel.

Very good attention to details - Sofitel Macau echoes the Sofitel brand present in all Sofitel hotels. The moment you step in the hotel, you feel like you are transported in a different place. Typical Macau hotel lobbies are noisy because of the casinos but Sofitel is able to maintain the relaxed atmosphere and yet it also has its own casino. Great location - Sofitel is located in the heart of the city. Very near Senado Square and St Paul Ruins and the other tourist attractions in Macau. Very near the shopping areas too. It is also beside a very good Chinese Restaurant that has super delicious food and yet reasonably priced. Excellent Service - The staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes especially to information.

superb hotel with great location”

helpful staff; lovely room

me and my family really loved our stay in Sofitel at ponte 16. everything was well taken care of from our arrival from HK, our stay, and our departure. the room was lovely and the amenities were ample (although the wifi was a bit slow). the staff, especially Joyce in the business center, was very accommodating and helpful. food was a bit pricey inside the hotel but there are several good eateries near the hotel esp. the dimsum place beside it. we would definitely stay again in this hotel when we return to Macau. highly recommended!

Beautiful Room & Hotel”

The service was superb.

My wife and I stayed for unfortunately a short 3 nights. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and luxury of not only the hotel but the room also was faultless. The staff should be commended for their impeccable service and aim to please. To ask us if we would return to this hotel - In a heartbeat. We are looking to return to Macau this year and we will not be looking past the Sofitel Macau at Pointe 16 Hotel for accommodation. We opted for the upgrade when we arrived and it certainly didn't disappoint. Their aim to please was effortless.

Relaxing Stay”

friendly staff. rooms are superbly designed and furnished. great outdoor pool.
if traveling with young children, best if you book a hotel along the cotai strip or near MGM/Wynn so you can go around and enjoy shopping.

Ponte 16 is away from the other casinos but it provides a quieter and relaxed ambiance. A 10 minute walk takes you to Senado Square and the ruins of St Pauls. Another 5 minutes and you're at Wynns (where there's a performance every half hour) and MGM. The facilities in the hotel are good, with an excellent buffet breakfast offered at the main hotel and a good outdoor swimming pool. Loved the L'Occitane products in their bathrooms! Macau is an amazing place and made all the more enjoyable by our stay at Ponte16 Sofitel.

Excellent service and overall great value for money”

Few hotels I have stayed in can compete with Sofitel Macau in terms of value for money: the rooms are of course very clean and stylish (although the design is starting to age a little bit), with high-quality furniture. The bedding is tremendous. The hotel is licated very close to the old city of Macau, which we found to be much more interesting than the newer part. There are also a few casinos (Wynn, Gran Lisboa) fairly close-by. There are numerous dining options close to the hotel. Rooms and common areas were spotless throughout our stay. Service was always attentionate and felt very geniuine whether at the reception or at the different restaurants. The staff was also accomodating as far as check-out times and breakfast times--we arrived after the end of the buffet, but still were able to eat. Facilities are good, but there is room for improvement as far as the swimming pool, which could be a bit larger and do with a few more amenities such as a jacuzzi etc...

Great for couple”

Location, Helpful Stuff, Clean

we went to macau to celebrate birthday and decided to stay in Ponte 16 Hotel, it is not one of the newest hotel in macau but definately a luxury hotel around, The stuff were helpful and I get a free birthday cake for my birthday. The bed is not too soft, it just about right. THe restroom has little smell of smoke but it is acceptable. Over all, it is a comfortable stay. Plus it is close to the main street. you could walk around and explore the inner city during the night.
