It located between 5th and broadway. Very convenient. The hotel has been renovated, different from lots of the hotels in New York which are pretty old. Pretty comfortable staying there. The price is reasonable and I would recommend anyone looking for convenient and reasonable price hotel.
Really good location, but..”
We loved the location, but the hotel itself is showing signs of age. The staff were friendly but really failed to deliver adequate service. I'm genuinely surprised that this property is 5 star... It's easily a 4 star, and that's a good thing. But I expect a lot better from a 5 star property - especially a Sofitel!
Our stay was pleasant. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were very gracious, helpful, and welcoming. The hotel also provided umbrellas we could borrow whenever it rained which is a nice plus. The only “cons” we experienced would be the late availability of rooms upon check in (we waited till past 3pm) and the additional residence fee that wasn’t disclosed after booking through Agoda but I suppose that’s quite typical of hotels in NYC.
Great location, rather expensive but with good facility”
The hotel is in a great location, closed to Times Square. The room is fine but the staff are not very helpful. It is rather expensive but probably due to the holiday season.
Comfortable Hotel with great location ”
My husband and I came to this hotel to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday .On our first evening arriving back to our room ,a small cake with a chocolate happy birthday written on a plate had been left .We had a lovely room on the 27th floor .,great bed very comfortable, great pillows .The bathroom was a good size with a separate shower . Lovely smell in the hotel and a great bar selling very good cocktails ,The only thing missing was tea or coffee making machine in the room .That would have been perfect ,
Nice location, friendly staff ! ”
Sofitel is close to Times Square, few minutes walk to Central Park and surrounded by numerous cafes, restaurants and bars. It's is also walking distance to the Subway. Definitely coming back. Great stay!
Small rooms, no bottled water inside the room and the housekeeping forgot to clean used glasses. But location is nice, walking distance to time swiare, church, shopping area and streets are not crowded compared to time square
This was my first time at NY Sofitel and I absolutely loved it. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel has a wonderful feel and everyone is very nice and helpful. It was a wonderful time thanks to Sofitel.
Great location with a little French flair”
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I do find it bizarre however that at Sofitel hotels the world over they insist that everyone says bonjour whether they speak French or not. It is quite disconcerting. Whilst it is charming to hear bonjour from a French speaker, when Chinese maid says bonjour its doesn't quite have the same appeal. Here, I don't think I encountered a single French speaker. The food was good but the restaurant and bar doesn't have much charm in the evening. Music and lighting could improve this dramatically (a few candles perhaps if elf and safety will permit it). I would like to say that the staff were charming as I was genuinely quite excited to be staying in the hotel. However, the concierge was pretty grumpy and could have done with a stint at charm school. All in all however this is a good pick for visitors to the Big Apple and certainly better than many NYC hotels I have stayed in.
A little bit of comfort in a big city!!”
This is our second stay at the Sofitel New York and it was just as good as the first time we stayed there. I would recommend the hotel to individuals and families. The location is perfect for shoppers and close to all major attractions i.e. Theatre and Times Square. It will be my first choice when we return to New York.
Potentially a home away from home”
I would return to this hotel, but I wish they'd improve on some of standard 4-5 star services/amenities. It is businesslike but it offers thoughtful amenities such as a large room and L'occitane toiletries. I wish though that the management reminds their housekeepers to be more gentle and caring because they don't replenish all the amenities such as the shower cap. The shampoo and shower gel were already 1/4 their bottle content before being replaced. Without waiting for the guest to answer, they quickly opened the door just right after knocking. Practically all 4-5star hotels I've stayed at provide free wifi or high speed internet access in the rooms or wifi in designated areas. This one surprisingly doesn't.
Luxury at the Sofitel”
Having stayed in Sofitel hotels in Europe, chose this hotel on that expected standard and it did not disappoint. Understated elegance in the public rooms, bedrooms of a good size and bed very comfortable. Bathroom well equipped with separate shower. Excellent views from higher floors. Very central location, off Fifth Avenue and down from Times Square. Free internet in the lobby.
A French Feel”
This was a repeat visit, and again we were more than satisfied. We were greeted in French and given an early check-in. Also we were given an upgrade. Our stay was more than comfortable; it was luxurious. The lobby, the restaurant, the bar and the access to 44th and 45th streets were all perks that will guarantee our return to the Sofitel in the hopefully not to distant future.
excellent location not as plush as most Sofitel hotels a little tired but comfortable and a great location nice little bar downstairs Not cheap but nothing is in N Y
locatio apsolutli the best room super staff excelent very helpful
evriting the best,lokacion driming
Holiday stay in the city a little underwhelming ”
Had high expectations based on the research I did prior to selecting the Sofitel NY for our Christmas holiday stay in NYC, and the money I shelled out. The positives: great location between Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Grand Central Station; OK service; clean room; free WiFi; concierge Jeffrey. The negatives: small room, a bit aged, and lousy view from high floor; super slow elevators that tend to stop on every other floor going down without any people getting on; and $5 bottles of Evian on the bill because there was no complimentary bottled water in the room, even though we were certain the check-in attendant told us there was (regrettably I paid the charge when we checked out because I didn’t have time to argue). I don’t feel like the value was up to the price I paid for the room. Maybe that’s the NYC holiday market, but there were plenty of Hilton hotels available in the area at two-thirds the price. I’d try one of those next time.
Sofitel NYC honest review ”
Has the potential but the rooms are in need to be completely redone. Almost like it's abandoned. smelly, dirty, everything falling apart, bathroom was never maintained, the bed is to a point that it needs to be put in the garbage, wall paper is riped, gross carpet, sewer smell in the bedroom at times, doors not working properly inside the room.... I could go on and on.... so probably it used to be a great hotel but is now at the stage that it needs to be completely renovated or it will just go down the drain
Prime location super-comfortable bed but poor food”
It was an overall very comfortable and friendly stay. The room is not big but very clean and well equipped. the bathroom is very spacious and the bed is super comfortable. The free in-room wifi is high speed. Staff are graceful and friendly. The major shortcoming is the food - although coming in large serve and the room service speed is quick, the taste of the food has a lot to be desired (especially the green salad I ordered has a very odd-looking dressing which makes the whole dish appear very un-fresh and I felt sick after a few bites). Nevertheless with the prime location, I have no problem finding heaps of fine dining or value-for-money cuisine within walking distance.
