Beautiful hotel with stunning pool and view!”
i thoroughly enjoyed my 7 night stay at the sofitel philippine plaza manila hotel. i have traveled all over europe from london to the netherlands, germany, lithuania, thailand and finally manila and i have to say this is the most luxurious hotel i have visited during my month long journey. although a little pricier than some of the other hotels in the area it is still a great bargain as i booked through agoda.com. i had a room with both a view of manila bay and the city skyline as well as a perfect view of the incredible swimming pool. it was incredible and i just have to say the food is delicious and affordable for the quality and presentation. i did not eat in the restaurants but constantly ordered room service and it was amazing. you have to try to mango cheesecake and the creme brulee...you will thank me later...i promise. the staff is great and always check on you to make sure all your needs are met. this place was wonderful and if my travels ever bring me back to manila then this is definitely where i will be staying! i have only one bad thing to say and it is minor but could be a major factor some...you have to pay $7.00 per day usd for internet access in a day where even mcdonalds offers free hi speed internet access this is a very poor decision on the part of the hotel. as much as i enjoyed the hotel i have to admit that if i had known this before booking i would not have made the reservation. this is just my personal opinion but to the management i would reconsider your internet policy especially for a hotel in manila with such a higher price point. so that being said i just want to make sure travelers that are tied to their tablets and notebooks take this into consideration. they do i believe offer free wi fi in the lobby area but who wants to trek down to the lobby when you should be able to lounge in the room pajama style with a nice cup of coffee while catching up on the days business at hand.
Beautiful and relaxing retreat by the bay”
We arrived in Manila on Holy Thursday when most places of business were closed for Holy Week and we needed a place to stay where we could still be amused and entertained. The Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel definitely fit the bill! With its excellent location by Manila Bay, the palm-filled pool area was a very relaxing retreat. After the beautiful sunset, the area transforms into a celebration of Philippine culture with its folk dance show and sunset buffet of fine Filipino delicacies. One could enjoy the show while dining or while sipping cocktails reclining on over-sized cushions on the grass or while merely swinging gently with the breeze on one of the hammocks nearby. Inside the hotel, your visual sense is filled by the very large lobby overlooking the elegant restaurant below with its stunning spiral staircase. The equally chic cafe/bakery/bar area by the lobby has nightly piano and vocal entertainment. Our 6th-floor room had a view of the bay and the pool area. It was luxuriously appointed with all the necessary conveniences and necessities. Wi-fi access was available for a 24-hour rate plus use of the computers in the business center was available for an hourly rate. All these luxury came at a price as soon as one orders something. For example, we were charged almost $16 for 2 non-alcoholic frozen drinks by the pool. However, if a price-conscious guest keeps these extras to a minimum, this hotel is the perfect getaway.
Fantastic hotel, great staff, great service!”
Fantastic hotel! I was calling around looking for hotels to stay in near Mall of Asia & Sofitel operator by far gave the best cudtomer service i received during my 2 week stay in the philippines & it was all over the phone! Talk about a first impression! I immediately booked the Sofitel Plaza Manila & was not disappointed upon my arrival. A huge luxurious lobby with welcoming hostesses greeted me. Room was clean & comfortable with a balcony & technicians came straight away to assist with the faulty safety deposit box. Staff were attentive & always went above & beyond - they asked the right questions to understand what you wanted. concierge Arti recommended a great Filipino restaurant (Zamboanga) & staff were helpful with transfers & hotel taxis after a less than desirable experience with a local taxi. Hotel has an amazing breakfast selection - by far the best I've seen! Room service is quick & efficient & the hotel has a range of facilities to suit everyone! Luxurious spa treatments at affordable prices, kids play areaS (plural), award winning hair salon & 24hr pharmacy to name a few! For the punters, there is a discreet casino inhouse. Great location near Mall of Asia with complimentary shuttle services available or less than 100 pesos via local taxi. Eateries at the bay is a 5min drive away. Resorts World & airport is also only 20min away, 45min in traffic. TRULY a resort style hotel in the city. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Nice view of the Bay”
I stayed at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel for the first weekend of a monthlong trip to the Philippines very nice hotel, nice wood in hallways and in the rooms. The beds in luxury room I had was very comfortable and had great pillows. There was a big screen tv and a nice business desk near the balcony so you could have coffee on the computer and see the bay and pool. The breakfast was good especially the omelets they were excellent. The pool was beautiful and thepool bar had wonderful views of Manila Bay sunsets. It was also alot cooler with the breee from the bay as being downtown. There is a big sports bar with a pool table and San Miguel on tap. Also very close ride to the Mall of Asia with courtesy shuttle from the hotel. I would definetly stay here again!
The classic hotel on Manila Bay”
I stayed at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila hotel to attend A conference there. In its heyday it must've been one of the best hotels in Manila and probably still is. It is beautifully maintained and has efficient, professional and courteous service to match. it boasts the longest buffet restaurant in Manila and breakfast is something to behold. You'll need to stay there for at least four days to sample all of the lovely foods on offer for breakfast. the outdoor pool and bar area overlooking Manila Bay. It's hard to believe that the madness of the manila metropolis is nearbye in this lovely sanctuary.
Not bad for an old hotel”
The Sofitel Philippine Plaza is the old Philippine Plaza of the 70s. Sofitel has managed to keep the hotel well-maintained, clean, with excellent staff. It's best feature is the view of Manila Bay, as well as dining al fresco by the Bay at sunset. However, if there's rain, as is often the case in tropical countries, the seaside facilities won't be available. The Spiral restaurant offers the best buffet experience in Manila, but it can be quite pricey.
Conveniently located quality accomodation”
Sofitel is conveniently located away from the congestion and pollution of central Manila and just minutes from Mall of Asia and the International Airport. We thought it would be smarter to spend our last night of our Philippines holiday here so we would not have deal with Manila traffic, a tip for future visitors. The hotel is clean and modern. There is a beautiful Spril restaurant show-casing their sprial staircase above a pretty water feature. The food there is delicious. Try the buffet breakfast which can keep your appetite satisfied until dinner. The staff dress up in Cleopatra like attire, a nice touch. Plus there's a sports bar and a small casino all within the hotel. Outside there is a resort like lagoon with waterslide and bridge not normally found in hotels. We upgraded our classic room to the luxury package for the equivalent of about $75 AUD per night. This includes a Bay view on the top 2 floors on level 10 and 11. Plus use of Club Sofitel. We had a king bed and over 70 channels of cable TV. Toiletries were also L'Occitane. Wireless internet is normally additional charge but free with the upgrade. Reception staff are generally helpful but reluctant to provide us a fold out bed for guests on the Club Sofitel floors. I guess this is just hotel policy. They were also pushy for a printed copy of a reservation confirmation which we could not provide as we did not have access to a printer when we booked. I would not say they were rude about it however, just less understanding. All in all, a clean, modern and reasonably priced hotel close to Mall of Asia and the airport.
Amazing Hotel, Awesome Restaurant”
Awed by the luxury and especially by the Ateliers in the Spiral Restaurant. We were facing a crisis when we booked this hotel in the last minute. Our flight from Manila to Hong Kong was cancelled and we were stuck in Manila for a day. Luckily I saw this hotel on one of the booking websites having a 50% off offer. I did not regret my decision of having a last minute deal. This is a huge 5 Star Hotel cum resort and has a huge Casino, Spa and 3 restaurants inside. Over 600 rooms this is of the level of Luxury like The Venetian Macau. Clasically French decor and a typical vive of big scale hotels, Sofitel makes you feel special Although the prices of everything is very very high than normal 5 stars but still I would say and recommend having Dinner Buffet at Spiral Restaurant. It has 21 Ateliers ( French for Restaurants) One could take from any of the 21 ateliers and all were a different cuisine from a different part of the world. Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, Philippino, Japaneses, French, Italian to name a few, The Rooms were nice and big and with modern amenities. The Taxi service I would not recommend to anyone who wants to save money as they charge exorbitantly for calling a Taxi. I would say just go to the Lobby and ask the Transport people to call a Meter Taxi for you, its more than 500% cheaper than a Hotel Taxi. The views from the room are amazing of the Manila Bay and also one to die for from the Le Bar. I would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel for at least a day when in Manila just for Spiral Restaurant.
THE BEST SO FAR....”
I should say of all hotels I've checked in to, this is one i would say is the best unlike the other hotel i was last week in Davao City - oh well, Marco Polo... its a 360 degrees turn. I came at about 8:30 in the morning, since i took the earlier flight of Philippine Airlines to attend a meeting at 2 in the afternoon, as expected my room is not yet available and the staff was so apologetic (in contrast with my 3:30pm check in in Marco Polo and no room was available). which i understand since i came in too early for the check in time at 2pm, i left my bag and went to Ortigas for some business matters and returned 6 in the evening, when i came to get my key card the staff was also apologetic because she thought i only got a room at this hour so i told her, its okay, i was in Ortigas to attend to some business concerns. I was happy with how their staff performed from check in to bell boys, to waitresses in the restaurants, to pool attendants, even those men at the lobby. Overall it was the best - Congratulations Sofitel Philippine Plaza - you lived up to your branding! i checked out the following morning and promised myself that when I'm in Manila, i would stay here again and again and again. And the food was great, too.... though its a little expensive but its all worth every cent!
superb location, superb service, superb facilities”
We had a one night stay to catch the flight next morning but our short stay was very smooth in Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Hotel. Specially the location and the staffs are the asset of this hotel. Also they have couple of restaurent to offer you nice foods, the pool side restaurant (on the Manila bay) is really worth to spend some time. Airport, Mall of Asia are realy close to the hotel. The security of this hotel is very high. Only negative thing was the HUGE noise from the club/casino (2nd level)distracting our sleep.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
We had a brilliant stay in Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Hotel the place was amazing and the staff give us a very warm welcome. We enjoyed our stay and it's very convenient as the shopping mall is not far. The hotel room service was in the high standard and the food was lush and to die for. The hotel ground is beautiful we really enjoy every bits of our stay. We will definitely stay with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Hotel.
We had a short but very good stay at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Hotel. The front desk offered us an upgraded package that we took advantage of so we could enjoy some of the hotel features and a late check-out for our flight. The room was very nice and comfortable, the staff very pleasant, and the food (especially the Sunday brunch) was excellent. We enjoyed that the hotel was not in the higher traffic areas of Manila as we were looking for a quiet stay. And the large pool was very well enjoyed by the many families staying in the hotel.
The most beautiful hotel”
my wife and i were very pleased with all about the sofitel plaza hotel, it really lived up to it's name. the hotel was beautiful and the staff was sooooo nice and helpful. we only got this room to be closer to our wedding venue and i was soooo happy we did we ended up with a room facing the manila bay and it was on a friday night so the mall of asia was shooting fireworks off it was beautiful! all was great their breakfast buffet is great so much to choose from fresh cooked eggs, fresh cut fruit to champagne all included in the buffet. my wife and i will be returning to the sofitel plaza hotel next visit. sofitel really made it easy for us to relax and enjoy eachother during all the stresses of our wedding. book this hotel now you will not be dissapointed.

A nice golden cage”
No doubt is the Sofitel Plaza Manila a very good hotel with high quality standards. Obviously, if you’re a traveler who visit a city because he wants to see and feel it, this is totally not the place you want to stay. The Sofitel is a golden cage for the wealthy and if this is what you are looking for, read on. The hotel is heavily guarded – before your taxi is allowed to progress it will be throroughly checked. At the entrance you’ll be briefly patted down, walk through a metal detector plus have your baggage x-rayed. Had I wanted to, I’m pretty confident I could have walked in there with a gun on me every single time. Which leads me to think they do this mostly for show. First entering the lobby leaves quite an impression – uniformed girls opening the doors, pretty young girls in beautiful dresses greet you with “bonjour”, the hall oozes class and luxury. My room was great: super comfortable bed, a desk with a good office chair – a good setting for working which I had to do in the evening. There’s a very nice pool outside with deckchairs and towels – swimming a few rounds is a great way to start the day. Free WiFi in the lobby is something I expect from any hotel and other than many business hotels the Sofitel actually offers that. Mind you, not everything about the hotel is great. First there’s the location which is in the middle of nowhere. Yes, you have a nice view over Manila Bay but it comes at the cost of not being able to reach anything else by foot. The hotel takes advantage of this by making you use their “taxi service” for which they charge three times the ordinary cost (a 90 pesos ride set me back 300 pesos). I’m sure when asked the management will tell you this is just for your own safety, with all the cab drivers out there that overcharge… Rest assured, the hotel cab drivers will try to rip you off, too, but other than their colleagues they have a 200 pesos head start! Next time I'll stay somewhere more central.
Almost Flawless Hotel”
this almost flawless hotel can stand up to any sofitel worldwide. i frequent sofitel worldwide and the manila location is wonderful. the room size and the spectacular view of manila bay is great. a quiet attentive staff are everywhere. the size of the physical property creates it's own oasis in a busy mega city. the food choices and venues are many and ll great. the pool side bar and over stuffed lounges are a perfect place to recover from jet lag. even hammocks are available to swing to sleep. i especially liked the driving range into manila bay. all in all an almost flawless experience. i used agoda to book form the usa and on my last day at the hotel i decided to add another day. i used agoda and keep the same savings as my original booking. wow!
the sofitel manila plaza is one of the most luxurious 5 star hotels in manila, well located at the manila bay. also great is the proximity to the mall of asia and the airport, and that all off the buzzing streets of the roxas boulevard area. the in house restaurant spiral is fantastic, with the largest buffet in town for breakfast lunch and dinner, so great place to receive customers and impress. the lobby bar is also recommendable for food and drinks and displays one of the best selections of spirits and wines in manila. staff is very supportive and friendly. the spa is also trendy and very modern. outdoor pool is great for family with kids.
