Additionally a new restaurant concept will be launched in May 2019, following a 3 month re-design project incorporating the restaurant, bar and lounge. From mid-February, one or more food and beverage venues will be available with selected offerings. The hotel will remain open throughout, with the rooms’ transformation taking place in cascading phases and during working hours, to ensure minimal disturbance to our guests. Whilst the product is being enhanced, our high service standards will remain unaltered. We apologise for any inconvenience you may encounter during this time and thank you for your patience. Best location in London”
Sofitel St James is the best hotel in London. This is my second time staying in this hotel. This place that makes me feel like being at home. Friendly and thoughtful staff and services makes me, a stranger in this gigantic city, feels like having good friends and family around me. And most important the bed is luxurious. Located within birds eye view from most of the important London sites, you can't really find a better place to stay. Walking distance to just about everthing important things to see and do in London. Shopping, eating, theaters and China town is all within a 15 minute walk. Will definately give Sofitel St James a two thumbs up.
Shaky start, but a magnificent finish”
Arrival was not the best, concierge were not on point. Carried my 3 bags in from my limo as they were too occupied chatting. Check in was good, but when i got to my room, it was not good. I booked a Luxury King Room, it was neither. Bed was a queen, the mattress was old and creaky, the phone didn't work and the sofa was hard as a rock as it was a sofa bed. When i spoke to reception (i had to go down to the lobby as the phone wasn't working), i asked if i was in the correct room, they said yes. I asked them about the bed being a queen and not a king, and they said "a King room doesn't mean a king bed"...um, yes it does. And it says so on the hotels own website. Long story short, i was room moved to a wheelchair accessible room that night (midnight). I received a call from the General Manager the next morning, who was genuinely concerned about the events of the previous night. He offered to move me again to a suite for the last night of my 2 night stay, which i accepted. I packed my bags and went out for lunch with a friend (great recommendation by the hotel concierge). My bags were moved to the suite and i collected my new room keys at reception on my return from lunch. The suite was magnificent..! It was the "Lord Lawrence Olivier Suite" and it was the most amazing suite i have ever stayed in. The GM also sent a bottle of Champagne and a large fruit tray with compliments of the hotel. I know mistakes are made, we are all human, i guess it was my turn to have a few all happen at the same time. but what really impresses me is how mistakes are rectified. Sofitel did this perfectly. What was looking like a terrible end to my 4 weeks holiday in Europe, turned into one of the highlights of the trip. I would definitely give Sofitel London St James another "go" as their efforts to make amends and to impress was exemplary. (The in-room dining is superb, i only had a club sandwich, but it was a delicious work of art). Checkout was fast and charming, and the farewell felt ge
Superb service in the heart of London's West End”
Service is often what makes the difference in how you fee about a hotel. Sofitel have got it right. Superbly rained efficient, courteous staff where nothing is too much trouble. This is a luxurious hotel in the heart of St James - a stones throw from Trafalgar square, Piccadilly and Buckingham Palace . The room was spacious, the bathroom generous and with good supply of amenities. I didn't like that they charged for high speed broadband, but that was my only grumble. Breakfast was excellent, lunch delicious and again, the service was without fault. Very good cosy bar selling excellent cocktails, with a barman who really knew his drinks Lovely touches such as when I came in from a run They presented me with a bottle of water, cold face towel and an energy bar. The gym is small but adequate. Overall an excellent hotel. Sofitel continues to have unique individual properties where the consistent feature is the quality of the staff and the guest experience.
Good service but poor value”
Service was good and friendly when checking in and location couldn't be better. Rooms were spacious for European standards and nicely decorated. All the five star hotels I have stayed in would have provided tooth brush and tooth paste among the toiletries without me having to ask but this was not the case here. While taking a shower I also noted that there was a strand of thread at the area where you adjusted the height of the shower head which looked like floss. That really grossed me out as well. I was really annoyed with the water temperature when taking baths/showers. Somehow it's always too hot/cold for me. Overall I expected a higher standard for the amount that was paid. The only thing that was faultless is probably the location.
Great Location, Great standards, but...”
What to expect from a 5 star hotel when one who wants to check-in at noon is told that his room will be available only at 3pm? Do you expect an excuse? I did not receive one. Do you expect an alternative solution apart from waiting 3h after a long haul flight? I did not receive one. Well Sofitel used to have standard that are now far away... A big disappointment because I love this hotel, great location, great room, great bar tenders. Definitely not a value-for-money hotel anymore...
Sofitel St. James”
Our stay at this hotel was a pleasureable experience from beginning to end, and we can't wait to go back again! Quite honestly, it is the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Being disabled caused none of the usual problems I encounter - all the staff were more than helpful with my wheelchair, especially the concierge. The hotel has a marvellous atmosphere, so much so that I wouldn't feel apprehensive about staying there on my own, should the occasion arise. All in all, our stay was a memorable experience!
Fantastic hotel and location ”
What a great way to start off our European vacation. The hotel oozes great charm and character. Is ideally located close to the Palace and beautiful gardens and other famous tourist attractions. The room was larger than we expected. We will make this hotel our bolt hole on future visits.
Great location, great service and lovely hotel”
We thought it was luxury. You definitely feel comfortable and have everything in the room and hotel. The wifi reception was slow in the room but you can pay for faster connection.
Excellent hotel, great location”
Wonderful hotel in a central location. We were given a complimentary coffee and snack whilst waiting for our room to be ready even though we arrived prior to check-in. Great with children .
A room with a small window near the ceiling! Not what we paid for initially...”
Great hotel and great location! However, the room that was offered to us was very small with a window near the ceiling! It was impossible for us to stay in that room. We had to end up paying additional money to get another room as they had no room available in the same category or in the category above what we had booked. At first, they wanted to make us pay for (2) upgrades but we end up paying only for one after some negotiations. Of course, that room was very beautiful but it became very expensive for one night...
Hotel is good but don't book this category”
We had high expectation of this hotel but this rate gave us, in our view, the worst and one and only one room within the entire hotel, exactly opposite the gym! Only disappointed at this.
perfect hotel”
nice hotel and nice services, very perfect location and it is good to have the free wifi in room...
Great hotel & friendly staff”
Fabulous stay. Welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Superb location & comfortable rooms.
I was there with two other women”
We had a fantastic time and are recommending it to friends and travel agents. The entire staff was so friendly , helpful and made out stay there so much fun!
fantastic”
It was good stay, even it is only 3 days. But I had fun, location is amazing in central london and picaddily street
LOVELY HOTEL IN GREAT LOCATION”
It was really wonderful. Beautiful room, maybe a little small. The bar is fabulous and the bar staff make great cocktails. A short walk to great restaurants and the best of London's shopping.
Charming and convenient hotel ”
I had a good experience during the period. All the staff are so nice and friendly and really take care of the guests's concern.
Fabulous”
Our stay was lovely. Very acomodating staff. We had an issue with the in room safe and also a broken shower head, staff were there to repair in less than ten minutes.
Good hotel to stay.”
Very central location. Very good service. Hermes shampoo/bodywash. However, bathroom shower head on top is dripping cold water while taking bath. Very annoying. Also water leaking out from the glass door onto the floor while taking bath. Should do regular checkups.
Good but can be improved”
This hotel is ideally located. The staff at the reception are somewhat stiff and I am sure I will strike lottery if I can spot a genuine smile. The conceirge on the other hand are super friendly and nice. The ladies at the spa are also very sweet and nice. I would have scored them higher if not on the staff attitude
