Nice little boutique hotel in the middle of Beijing”
We were a small group of 3 travellers enjoying our 3 nights stay at Sofu hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect for those who want to experience the little small ecentric street - “Hutong” of Beijing. Within 5 minutes walking distance is a bunch of small cafes and restaurants. There’s a 24 hour mini mart by the Ping An Li subway station entrance. The staff is friendly and willing to help. Some of them, however, are lacking their English speaking skill, but we found there’s no issue since we can converse with mixed basic Mandarin. The room is not big but comfortable. The only drawback of the room is that there is a big safe deposit box placed on a table that occupies 1/4 of the table space. The heater in room 303 doesn’t function properly. Cold air can still be felt thru inside the room and we’ve reported to the front desk. To remedy this, we used bunch of towels to “seal off” the windows. In conclusion, we found Sofu hotel to be excellent value both for money and location.

Great location! ”
We celebrated our anniversary here. Sofu hotel is a good choice because of quiet and accessible location. But it’s very hard to communicate with staff since most of them does not speak English. Thanks to jack and jaycee of the front desk as they speak very good english. When we checked in we had to wait for an hour since we were not given a room that we reserved. But we were just excited to be in Beijing that I didn’t mind. The next day they transferred us to the room that we had requested. Housekeeping did not clean well and I had to request for cleaning it all over again. Then it was all squeaky clean. Breakfast was not great... they repeated the same food everyday for the next 6 days. But nevertheless I will still choose sofu hotel if we visit Beijing again. Thanks sofu hotel

Nice room in a great hutong”
I spent 3 nights at Sofu Hotel and, when I first arrived in the busy hutong, I was worried about the noise, but it was quiet inside the hotel and I never heard a noise throughout my stay. The room was the perfect size for a solo traveler and very comfortable. Huguosi hutong is famous for its shops selling traditional snack street and the always packed Huguosi Xiaochidian (护国寺小吃店), located to the left of the hotel, should not be missed!

An easy living hotel”
The Sofu Hotel is located in a tourist area full of restaurants and small shops. You don’t have to go very far to get all you need. It is very close to the subway station which can access to nearly all major attractions. The room is cozy and clean. Front desk staff are helpful. We also get free bike rental from the hotel which really helped us to travel to all the nearby attractions.

Great Hotel”
Sofu is really nice and tucked away down an interesting side street. There are some quite good restaurants close by and easy access to the underground. The staff are pleasant and they were reliable.

Very good”
The location of this hotel, on a hutong street near the Ping'an Li subway station, really makes this hotel an enjoyable place to stay. The street is bustling with activity from early morning until late at night, with lots of local restaurants and shops to visit if you're so inclined. Checking in and out was a smooth process - the hotel will charge a 500 RMB deposit that should hopefully get refunded after you leave. My room was quite small, but this is Beijing, and it fit my needs as a solo traveler. I would highly recommend skipping the breakfast on the second floor. It was a buffet-style breakfast for 98 RMB, which is quite expensive by Beijing standards, and neither the Chinese nor western food was particularly good. There's a Starbucks next door and a location of the Taiwanese chain 85C on the corner, not to mention any of the local restaurants on the street that open early. The hotel provides bottled water, tea, and instant coffee in the rooms, along with a kettle for boiling.

A place for budget travellers”
Hotels in Beijing are known to be expensive and Sofu is considered one where you can still pay $100 per pax and less per night depending on the period you are travelling. The cleanliness of the hotel needs major improvement as there were hair in the toilet and smell from the carpet. The showering area and the toilet bowl were also chocked although the housekeeping managed to clear it upon our request. Kudos to the reception especially the morning shift who were very friendly and answered to most of our queries and also offered to change our room due to the carpet smell. The hotel is also a 5 min walk to Pinganli station (line 4) which is a direct line to Beijing south railway station. There are along many eateries along the street where the hotel is situated where you can grab breakfast/lunch/dinner. Overall, it is a good stay but not for travellers who are particular on the cleanliness of a hotel room.

Close to the subway in crazy street”
Sofu is located in a chaotic street. Actually it's just an alley without road markings but there's scooters and bikes everywhere and they're driving like crazy! But nevermind, it was fun! Metro station "Ping'An Li" is within 5 mins walking distance and is well located in the metro net. Staff's English wasn't too good but we made it. Also it was possible to have a tour to the Great Wall (tour was great!!! And inexpensive also) and tickets for the forbidden city (which you def. should buy in advance) booked by the reception. Although bed was very hard for a western taste we slept well. Eoom was full when both our suitcases were open but that's Chinese hotels I guess. Bathroom was okay. Lots of accessories were provided like toothbrush & -paste, different towels, hairdryer, ... Overall our stay was okay!

Good Value and location”
Great location right in the middle of a hutong but with a Didi stop right in front of the hotel. Front desk was helpful with questions. The room was neat and clean and comfortable. Slept well, no issues with noise. We were there 2 nights. Did not use the restaurant. All in all a good deal .

Very good service and will come again”
The staff were super kind and helpful. The toilet was clogged on the first day but the housekeeper helped to solve the issue promptly. She even left a spare toilet roll for me when she noticed the current one had almost been used up. A lovely luggage tag was given as a gift when check out. I will choose this hotel again. The air cons were not quite adjustable despite having two air con control panels, but a fan had been prepared for you to improve the ventilation or you could choose to open the window. The WiFi was poor though, no connection. The tap water was quite dirty on the first day, could see many suspended solids in water but the condition was improved after keeping the water running for several minutes. Overall, I enjoy spending my time in this hotel.

Spacious Room and near to PingAnLi Metro Station”
Stayed 4 nights and location is very good. Near to PingAnli Station and there are plenty of Beijing street food all around the vicinity of the hotel. Although the room floor is a little dusty, but given bathroom slippers for us, this is not a very big problem. Overall, we had a good stay.

Great 'local' spot”
Friendly staff who speak English enough to answer your questions or help you with taxi's , queries etc. HUGE rooms with plenty of space to swing a cat. On the boundary of a Hatong, so real feeling of being in the neighbourhood, whilst being only a couple of minutes walk from Ping'anli metro station (servicing 2 metro lines). Plenty of restaurants around and starbucks and another coffee shop on the Ground floor of the hotel building. Would definitely stay here again.

Covenient location”
It is very covenient to walk to good restaurants (even well known eateries that make you queue for 2hrs plus). Metro is nearby too. Room is small, but cosy for couples. Toilet is big. Only con is lack of cupboard to hang clothes, so have to be creative in hanging them by the door. Would recommend staying here if you want to explore the night activities nearby (night market, lakes).

Quality Boutique Hotel”
The hotel is conveniently located near a subway station. The streets surrounding it is peppered with various eateries, snack house, 24/7 restaurants, and other food stalls. You will never end up hungry. Just bear with the scent emitted by a nearby stall (I think it sells stinky tofu, hence the repulsive smell) when walking towards the hotel. They provide free welcome drinks upon arrival. Options were brewed coffee, or hot tea. As to the room itself, it is spacious. Ours was located at the 4th floor. However, I think the hotel has thin walls, the room next to ours complained that our television was too loud (volume was at 25 only). The bed was huge, and they did invest with high quality linens. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Bathroom layout is weird, room is old but clean. Carpet smell and not worth for the price. But hotel staff and cleaner friendly and helpful.

Overpriced, not a great room”
We struggled to find hotels in Beijing that offered a family room to suit all 4 in my family (two adults, two kids, 6 and 9), and Sofu came up as a reasonably priced option. I liked the location in terms of being close to the subway, and on a vibrant and culturally rich street. However the facilities left something to be desired. We stayed in the "Chinese Family" room, and the bathroom was pretty smelly, and had some sharp nails pointing out of the carpet that I snagged my foot on coming out of the bathroom. The ventilation in the room was terrible. It was incredibly stuffy, and I woke up many times because of this. I don't know how people would be able to stay there in the summer time. The mattresses were pretty thin for the kids beds. They slept OK, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep on them myself. One of the bright spots was the Hunan restaurant on the second floor. Food was great! Next time I would look elsewhere for a nice place to stay while visiting Beijing.
