Really a nice hotel with air and no mosquito nets.”

Sok Heng Guesthouse is really a Hotel close to the beach, restaurants, and trails. It is clean. Most places here are bungalows with mosquito nets and monkeys on your porch wanting food or to steal your purse or phone. At Sok Seng you have air con, clean sheets and bed. No mosquitos. Close to the main pier. 40 meters from the beach area. Take a left and walk on some gorgeous beaches and rainforest trails. It is not commercialized so there is much natural beauty. Good wifi and one of the few places with tv. Very peaceful getaway to forget the world. You will wish you could never leave. The ferry to Koh Rong is easy to get to. Near the Golden Lion Circle in Sihanoukville. Go to Koh Rong. Siganoukville is getting seedy in the main area. This is a nice, clean, and peaceful place near everything you want to do on Koh Rong.

A Break from the Bungalow Life”

We were very happy with our stay, it was a nice break from the buggy, muggy bungalows. The AC was lovely, proper bathroom, TV with English channels. Staff was very friendly, set up our room so it was nice and chilly when we arrived. They provide water and even toiletries. Breakfast coupons are given at check in. I’m confused by the negative reviews—people are forgetting they’re on an island in Cambodia. Sometimes the power goes out because it’s a Cambodian island (not the hotel turning it off...). Sometimes there are ants because you are in the jungle. Sometimes the bathroom doesn’t smell fresh because, again, you’re on a Cambodian island. Sometimes the hotel has sandy floors because—aha!—you’re on an island. If you want luxury, fork over the $1000/night to stay on Song Saa Private Island. Maybe they’ll listen to your complaints but I bet you’ll still have ants... ;) Sok Heng is a great choice if you’re staying on Koh Touch.

Best Value on Koh Rong”

Koh Rong does not have a lot of options, but Sok Heng is excellent. I needed comfortable accommodations with wifi that could support a Skype call, and Sok Heng offered just that. Comfortable yet basic room. Great air conditioning. Very close to the beach where all the bars and restaurants are. Definitely recommend.

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!”

I stayed here for 4 nights and it was amazing! I did plenty of research on accommodation to live in Koh Rong island and I lucky to have found this gem! I booked the economic queen room, although a bit small, but it was just enough for a solo traveler. Because the Guesthouse is built on a cement structure, there were no issues with mold, termites, mosquitoes (unlike the other cheaper wooden bungalows on the island). The location is perfect, if you're finding for a place to stay in at the main pier/main beach (Koh Touch). It's only a 150-200 metres hike up the alley from the front row of bars/restaurants which was amazing because you're still close by the entertainment area but you're also far enough to not hear all the noises. Huge shout out to Lindsay, who works at the guesthouse. Really friendly and nice, and was very informative about the island and provided really good insights on what to do/where to go. When I checked into my room, the air-conditioning was already switched on!

love the atmosphere”

this guesthouse has the same concept with others on the island, do not expect much when you stay at a guesthouse in Koh Rong, we kinda like this property because of its cleanliness, and easy to access to the main road. One minus point is the electricity quite poor around here, we stayed on the 3rd floor and when we come back @9pm we have to walk up the stairs in dark, the floor is quite slippery especially during rainy reason, bring mosquito spray as there are plenty of them on the island

a place I could call home”

Throughout my few months of travelling, something about this place makes me feel like I'm home. It's not only the guesthouse but the vibe of Koh Rong island. Such a laidback place. I woke up to the sounds of roosters alarm. I have booked a partial sea view room although, to be honest, it doesn't really make a big difference since the view was blocked by another constructed building. Regardless, the room was lovely. No water heater but it is expected in the entire island. They have a lovely cafe in the lobby and you could always ask for hot water if you feeling like eating noodle in the middle of the night. Like myself! :) One thing for all those travellers, do not expect a fancy stay but if you need a lovely comfortable room with A/C, I would suggest this one. It's a bit up on the hills (3mins walking to the restaurants at the beach). Lovely place in overall.

Aamazing staff, great location ”

Honestly what made this place worth it was the sweet guy running the front desk. He explained where everything was to us and helped us book various activities. He checked in with us every time we came or went to make sure we were comfortable. The location was also excellent. Really centrally located but off the main drag so we weren’t kept up at night by music or noise. The bed was hard as a rock, but that seems to just be a Southeast Asia thing. The room was very small, but if you’re on Koh Rong you’re not gonna be spending a ton of time in there anyways. We were pretty comfortable for the 3 nights we were there. And we would stay again.

worth the price”

we wanted to find an accomodation with clean room and AC in Koh Rong, and we weren't disappointed. the staff was very kind (maybe not always very professional), and the location is great : close to the beach and the main village of the island, but far enough not to be disturbed by the music from the bars. Otherwise, there was neither hot water, nor WiFi in our room. The mattress was too hard for us, we felt like we were sleeping on concrete. We recommend this hotel if you want something clean, without bedbugs (and any other insects/animals) and a bit more comfortable than the budget accommodation on the island. this place is worth its price!

Good location but well over priced and lacking basics.”

This would have to be my strangest review ever! Place is very well located in a quiet street just meters from a beautiful beach. The room is comfortable and the bed good. Aircon is great. But the toilet/shower was a bit average with no hot water??? I should’ve read previous reviews instead of relying on score. Considering the price, even by local standards, it’s very expensive but lacks standards. The worst part was the constant smell of marihuana from staff smoking it. It’s Koh Rong (a party island) so you have to give some leeway and I have nothing against cannabis but to constantly smell it became somewhat annoying.

Quite Good Relative to What's Available on Island ”

Having a well functioning aircon (though noisy) and cable television with many English channels provided a nice refuge for lazy/hung over times. These amenities can't be readily found on the island so that alone makes Sok Heng a decent option. The drawbacks are that it's not on the beach (but quiet because away from bars), the bed is kinda hard and there is no hot water. Also, there should be a free breakfast for what they charge. Instead you get a 3$ coupon for each day. Thr cafe prices aren't great so you end up spending several dollars to round out your breakfast, even with the coupon. The food itself is only serviceable on top of that, nothing to write home about. One final complaint is that they start cleaning way too early in the morning. A mop bumped against my door at like 5 am and woke me up. The ladies were out cleaning the commons area with flashlights. I feel like they should at least wait until 8am before disturbing folks like that.

Good location and friendly staff”

The staff is friendly and really helpful. The bed was comfy and the aircon was good. I am not sure what I should expect in Ko Rong but there was no hot water and the wifi did only work in half of the room. I had to be outside of the room to get a good signal. The worst part was really the damp smell in the room. It really smelled. The location is good and just a few steps away from the arrival pier and bars/resturants.

Too expensive for no hot water”

We moved into the hotel after 2 days of staying at dirty, noisy Cocos boutique hotel, so was happy to see a more livable room. We had the family suite which worked really well for us as a couple traveling with another person because the 2 beds are actually separated by a partition and there was a little tv sitting area. The a/c blew very cold as long as the power on the island worked. Unfortunately Koh Rong loses power regularly so one night we spent the entire night sweating in a humid room. You would think a place like this would have a generator for that price. Also, we were totally disappointed when we used the shower to find it only shoots freezing water. We paid $80 per night and it really wasn’t any better than the $40 per night places. The location was better than most because it is away from the noise, but you do have to walk up a hill a ways.

Great location and Staff”

The place was steps from the beach. The staff helped us check in so smoothly and helped us organize the rest of our trip. The beds were comfy. Rooms were a good size. Some downfalls, we didnt have hot water. BUT it was so hot that it was OK. Also this isnt the hotels fault, but we had blackouts but the entire island had rolling blackouts. Breakfast was not included BUT when we got there we got $3 coupons for each morning. All the meals were 3-4 dollars. So that was nice! I would stay at this guesthouse again.

Very good”

Nice, clean hotel. Rooms are modern. Private bathroom but no hot water (I think this is usual for the whole island). Nice breakfast/food options at the hotel. Room isn't cleaned everyday (but should be as lots of sand travels to the rooms and into the bed!). Loved the two resident cats, Carrot and Noel :) and staff were excellent! Nothing to do with the hotel, but some advise to first time travellers to Ko Rong: the island has a MASSIVE SANDFLY PROBLEM so wear insect repellant when going to the beach!! I was mauled with maybe 20 bites on my back alone after 2 hours at 4K beach. Was too scared to go to the beach after that. The island is REALLY undeveloped, so there are no real restaurants and no hygiene standards as a result (both partner and I got food poisoning). Also stray dogs, cats and rubbish everywhere (so no wonder we got sick).

Worth spending some more money to stay in this hotel, spent two days in another hotel before we decided to book our last night here. Nice, clean guesthouse with very lovely stuff”

The only thing I would mention is that you'll wake up cery early cause of the village's chicken, who will scream like nonstop from 5 to 9 and that there's no hot water at all. They could ave electronic water heaters for that price. The house is pretty, very friendly stuff and clean rooms.
