Great great and great”
My boyfriend and I loved the resort. We had travelled around Thailand and Malaysia before we ended up on Koh Rong. Having spent weeks living out of a backpack and staying in so many resorts, we thought that Sok San Beach was one of our favourite resorts. We stayed in the garden chalet, one row behind the sea view villas. The chalet was great, there was a master bedroom with a living space and two bathrooms. The chalets were cleaned everyday, with fresh towels, linen etc and my favourite thing.. hot water. You forget how great it feels to have hot running water on an island. The staff were fantastic and so hospitable. Each staff member from reception to the restaurant staff strove to give the best service. The selection of food at the resort is quite limited and quite pricey, but nothing we didn't expect as it was the fanciest resort on the island. I would suggest eating there for a night or so and venturing out down to the other side of the beach and eating at one of the village restuarants, much cheaper and good local food. Despite it being quite pricey for a beach hut, we were happy to pay the cost as it was the last destination of our holiday and having read the reviews it seemed to be the only place on the island that delivered the comfort and quietness we craved. Overall I would highly recommend staying at Sok San for at least 3/4 days... you won't be disappointed.
Overall we had a great time here and are glad we chose the "more expensive" route to ensure a quality stay. Sok San Beach Resort sits on arguably the best beach on Koh Rong with only Lonely beach rivaling it. The water: Crystal clear, turquoise The beach: Beautiful white sand and so fine it literally squeaks! The rooms: Very clean and comfortable The restaurant/ bar and service: Good, not amazing but pretty good. Compared to the other limited amount of places to eat on the island, I'm sure it's the best restaurant on the island as far as overall food quality and deliciousness. It was a bit pricey though but nothing too outrageous (tip** the bar menu is much more affordable and also tasty). The service was good too. The hotel service: the only part I wasn't thrilled about. We had some complications with what our stay included and was somewhat difficult to resolve. Once we actually had a chance to speak to the manager though he resolved our issues and made up for the complications. If you are looking for a truly comfortable, relaxing stay on Koh Rong, this is THE spot. My girlfriend and I stopped off on Koh Touch on our own private long-tail boat day tour of the island and are soooo glad we chose to stay here. We definitely recommend this resort/ location.
beautiful beach ,clean water”
I only want to say it's so sad when I looked back, the island and hotel is gradually disappearing from my eyes. I just felt so sad to leave from this resort and island.I love the dogs there, and also the people, the beach is sooooo beautiful. one thing I need to point out. we spent double money on boat from Sihanuvie to Kog Rong, because we were not informed clearly that the other boat company would be parked at different ports, and KoH Rong is big, in order to go to sok san resort we had to take another boat from one side of the island to another side. only this point, I hope the hotel can explain to customer more clearly that other company's boat will not be able to part at your port and they are far away from your port. because many customers actually arrive at sihanuve in the morning and your boat comes to pick at 2pm, most of customers don't want to wait and they would buy the ferry ticket from other boat company, they thought the ports in Koh Rong would be closer to each other, actually they are not.
Nothing short of amazing on all levels we loved our stay! One note to add I didn’t see anyone mention. If you don’t already have the $25 ferry ticket with them from Sihanoukville (one way price), but you bought a ticket to main ferry terminal on Koh Rong which is to Koh Touch beach ($20 round trip-cheaper btw), you can take a water taxi to Sok San Resort for $7 person. If you ask the resort to pick u up from Koh Touch they charge $85 which is crazy and so ridiculous. They need to change this price it’s nonsense. And we had to leave from Koh Touch to go back so you can find water taxis in the village next to Sok San for $5-7 person.
Everything about our stay was perfect. I'm not sure where the negative reviews come from, as the beach was clean, the staff extremely helpful, and the food was very good. The location is nice do to the beautiful beach and several good restaurants within walking distance. We did some scuba diving with them and it was a great experience. Dive master did a great job showing us plenty of interesting things. Scuba equipment was all in near new condition. I had a difficult time choosing which place to stay on Koh Rong, but I'm happy I chose Sok San Beach Resort.
Koh Rong island and Sok San resort were amazing. The staff were always helpful, the beach was beautiful, the snorkeling and kayak tours were fun for the whole family. Our beach bungalow was spacious and comfortable - though if we visited again we would definitely reserve a bungalow on the beach as those set further back needed sunlight and had a few mosquitos entering (but mosquito nets are provided). For families with children there is a lot of fun to be had
A slice of Paradise”
Sok San Beach will forever stay in our hearts!!!! The white sands, the warm crystal aqua water, the sunsets. AHHHHHH..... We had a great and relaxing time at Sok San. While the Resort itself is a little tired it was very clean, and friendly staff were very indulging of attention if approached. We opted for a simple hotel room with Garden view, which was a little small but adequate as we spent all of our time outside. There aren't mosquito nets in all rooms, but they will set one up if requested. The breakfast buffet was really great with heaps of options. And other guests told us the restaurant was great, though we chose to check out the other dining options in the village nearby. It seems to me that the direct boat from the hotel was the best option, as we were told the other ferries are occasionally late or cancelled; not reliable if you need to get back to Sihanoukville for a connection. We did a boat trip with 4 others ($10pp) and had a great time fishing, snorkelling and had a bbq on a nearby beach; a great experience. Id recommend it for couples off all ages.
The Best on Koh Rong”
Wonderful location - on the western side of the island - away from noisy, dirty and unappealing backpacker main port town. A serene piece of paradise - clean white sand beach, azure waters, clean comfy houses with AC and wifi. Would definitely come back. Could be better: limited choices breakfast - you get tired after a week of english breakfast or musli with fruit. The prices in the restaurant are really too high for what you get. The meals are mediocre. Go for lunch to a nearby fishing village - you will pay half you would pay at the resort and have twice as much food on the plate. Also don't take ferry from Sihanoukville to the main pier and then another one around the island to Sok San Beach - you will pay the same price as just simply taking the resorts pricey, but convenient speed boat.
Excellent location with Super Friendly Staff!”
I stayed 13 nights here in early October. The location of the resort, at the far end of Long Beach, 200 meters or so near Sok San village, was spectactular. Given that it was still low season, there was virtually nobody on the white powder sand beach with aquamarine waters. The bottom was all sandy so no worryiing about cutting your feet on coral or rocks. The resort itself, I stayed in a Garden View room, is nothing fancy but it had all the necessary amenities: good AC, safe, hot water, quiet, and a minute walk to the beach. The restaurant prices are, of course, al little higher than the mainland, but that is to be expected anywhere where you are slightly isolate, notably on an island. The food, however, was excellent. I never had a bad meal my entire stay. The breakfast, although not buffet, was plentiful and delicious. You have several options for breakfast, and I think you can mix and match. The greatest part of this resort, however, is the staff. There were the best!
Dear Mark, Warm Greeting from Sok San Beach Resort! 10 Score -thank you so much! Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. Simply beautiful beyond belief! ”
My husband and I originally had planned to stay for 3 nights but we extended to 10! We thought we'd be staying at other islands but couldn't resist the excellent Agoda deal. After exploring the island, Sok San is the best stretch of beautiful beach and most comfortable room. PROS: - Bungalow right on the most beautiful beach - Comfortable bed - Modern bathroom - Beautiful beach - Local village nearby - Island hopping tour - Super friendly staff - Rent a motorcycle to tour the island- we drove all the way to Koh Toch, (even though there were no roads to get there!) - Amazing massage CONS: After a while we got a bit bored with the food menu, whilst the food was good, it definitely could have had a more exciting variety. (My husband's a chef, so I guess we were being a little picky!) SUGGESTIONS: - Yoga class - Better music to increase a fun/chilled vibe - Stand up Paddle boards -
World's best kept secret!”
Our stay at Sok San beach was incredible! It is truly paradise! Pristine white sand beach, turquoise blue water, fun waves, well appointed resort. It is the only resort in the island right now aside from bungalows & hostels, which are at the far end of the island in the village. Very relaxing stay. We stayed right in front of the beach. The food and drinks are quite more expensive but quality is very good. Wifi is pretty strong everywhere even on the beach. We wish we stayed longer. Will definitely come back! Thank you, Sok San beach!
Great place to hide away”
It's located in a private area with private deck. You can use private company's boats to be here, but it takes 3-4 hours (including waiting time), 2 stops with 1 time changing the boat, then 5 minutes walking on sand to the resort, $27/person/round trip. You can also choose boat provided by the resort, $40/person/round trip. It takes more than 1 hour, directly from Sihanoukville pier to Sok San Beach Resport. Staffs are extremly friendly, food is affordable, room is clean and well-furnished. Wi-Fi is slow and down for nearly a day, but you can't expect more since you are hiding away on island. Beach is very clean and nice.
Amazing, relaxing and romantic”
The difference between noisy Sihanoukville and peaceful Koh Rong was great, it was like entering paradise. The relaxing and peaceful clean beach and cozy bungalows are recommended. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend Sok San Base camp to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing holiday. The best experience on our vacation in Asia. This is Paradise!!
My experience at Sok San Beach was amazing. The rooms are always clean and all staff are friendly”
Pros: There are things suggested for people to do once you get to Sok San Beach Resort, like diving, walks, trekking, etc. It's very relaxing feeling once you reached the resort and the view was exceptional. Cons: If you are getting to the resort through their boat service, you'll have a bit of hard time getting to Port 65 as not all TukTuk are willing to bring you there. TukTuk should be no more than $7. Once you get to the island, there's a possibility they wont be able to drop you at the resort front but rather have roughly 30 to 45 mins "safari" ride to the resort itself. But the staff will inform you agead of time if this case happens.
Stunning Location! wonderful room.”
We arrived at Sok San after a long and tiring motorbike ride and the first thing that comes to mind is how beautiful it all is! the sand is white, the water is crystal clear and blue, and the resort itself is right next to the water with plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. If you prefer a beach with no people and just sand and water to yourself, just walk less than 5 minutes along the beach and you'll have that too! We were pleasantly surprised that the lady at the front desk, after a friendly smile, welcome, cold towel and drink, proceeded to tell us they had upgraded our room reservation! We got to stay at a large suite on the second floor of one of the buildings... and this room was like a full blown apartment! very spacious, a full living room area separate of the bedroom and kitchen area and even had a guest bathroom. everything was very clean, and all the employees where very professional and friendly. We loved our stay and recommend it to everyone!
Our favourite place in Cambodia! ”
We were absolutely blown away by SOK SAN RESORT! The warm welcome, the views are just exquisite, the staff were so friendly and helpful! The bungalows (Garden View) are simple but it was exactly what we wanted- that Island vibe 🌴The front rooms looked amazing but we actually spent so little time in the room that we were very happy with the more private garden rooms. You tend to get drawn to the sunbeds, village, restaurant or activities. We actually extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights. Nicole and her team were so hospitible. THANK YOU! The massage I had there was the best in Cambodia- thank you “Dah-Lin(?)”. My only (constructive) Criticisms are that I believe the restaurant could better the food. Breakfasts are decent but lunches and dinners were not outstanding. The atmosphere and venue are fantastic but maybe the hotel could sponsor training for service & food. The boat trip to the North was our favourite day! Highly recommend that. Be sure to do Sunset at Lonely Beach too.
In one word Paradise”
Great resort with private beach close to the small authentic Sok San village (5 minutes walk). Accomodation is an easy style but comfortable. Color of the sea was amazing, crystal clear water! We did not find better beach during 3 weeks of travelling in Cambodia / Thailand. Small minus is you can get to the resort directly only by private boat which costs 20 USD per one person. Also the costs for food in hoteĺ is more expensive. But the fact that the village with many food opportunities is close it is not limitating. You can choose. Definitely I would like to go there again. Perfect resting time in paradise! We love that place.
We loved Sok San Beach Resort! It was perfect for a few days away from reality! The service from all of the staff was great and especially liked our barman Jarrod (not sure how he spelt it), he was excellent. The only downfall would be if you were staying here for a long period, you might get sick of the same food in the restaurant. We enjoyed everything we ate, however the menu stays the same each day.
A Little Heaven”
We visited Koh Rong in wet season. But let me tell you, it was still more than beautiful. We stayed here for 2 nights, without going anywhere else. Deluxe ocean front room was amazing, we really love the feeling when we opened the window in the morning. Room is clean enough, indeed sometimes we had that itchy feeling on bed, but I cannot say it's a bedbug. Beach was super clean, super private. Breakfast great, with good options. We fell in love with the restaurant, we tried 6 menus in 2 days and loved the taste of each one of them. Please order some local food as well, to experience more. The price is higher than cambodia standard, but I mean come on, we ordered 2 main course, 1 dessert, 2 glass of wine, the bill was $35. Cheap for hotel standard. Staffs were super helpful with warm hospitality. A little tip: Better to arrange your transport with resort's facility. It is indeed higher price, but (1) you can negotiate the boat price if you buy return ticket, and (2) it makes your life much easier. Not a lot of boat will go to long beach. Will come back for sure!
Location and accomodation was perfect and its one of the best beach in asia. Sea and sand is amazing. Accomodation is decent and the only on sok san beach with regular facilities. Thr only issue is reosorts restaurant wich has amazing breakfast but later if you eant lunch/dinner menu is poor and really expenssive. Cheeze cake 6$ for example, while in good resto in phnom penh is half price. Dinner buffet is 20$ per person what is amazingly expenssive for cambodia. There are other places with food but for a resort guests i think its also poor and not so hygenic so i think the best option is to bring as much as possible food with yourself. Anyhow the nature and peacfullnes of the beach is worth it. Believe me.
