A Gem in Kyoto”
This hotel is Kyoto's hidden gem. It is centrally located, near the river and San journey Kawaramachi areas where transportation is easy and restaurants abound. You will never go hungry in this area. Convenience stores and bakeries are also a stones throw away. Our room was beautiful and with very well-thought of interiors. Separate bathrooms were spacious and well-lit with enough storage space. Had a really cool bathroom enclave we've never encountered elsewhere. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of sockets and USB ports on either side to charge our gadgets with. Lighting can be changed from moody and romantic to bright and functional. We loved the tea set by the sofa, which we used daily for our green tea fix. Relaxing tea time by the window is great after a long day of exploring Kyoto. Staff were knowledgeable and accommodating to queries and requests. Housekeeping kept our rooms tidy all week. Thumbs up to all these hard-working people! Nice touches such as free ready umbrellas by the door when it's raining outside and an autumn leaves chart enumerating autumn spots to check out and whether the leaves there are at their peak or not. Taxis are easy to hail from outside the lobby and the Airport Limousine Bus stops nearby (Kyoto City Hall). There's also a subway entrance a few steps away. Solaria Nishitetsu Kyoto Premier is definitely our favourite hotel now in Kyoto and we will surely return. Thanks for making our 19th year wedding anniversary trip memorable!
New hotel with excellent service”
I will definitely recommend and go back to Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kyoto. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. It located in the Kyoto city proper. It is situated in a quiet place but a 5 minute walk to the busy area (where dining and shopping area is located). It has a public bath at the basement 1 of the hotel. According to my brother, he was just alone in the public bath. It was clean and relaxing. Too bad I wasn't able to experience the public bath due to medical condition.
25 year Wedding Anniversary - 2nd Honeymoon”
Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel was everything we expected plus more!!! We wanted something nicer and splurged a bit on our executive twin room since we were celebrating a special occasion. The room looked exactly as advertised with the Japanese fabric paneling behind the bed and the beautiful Japanese garden along the window. Everything was rated five stars from the cleanliness of the room and hotel, to the English speaking staff
A great hotel! ”
We love this hotel, we love the room, deco and space, strong showers, beds are comfortable with fresh linen changed everyday!! Staff spoke English and are very helpful and responsive to our needs. Our stay was made very welcome by the friendly staff and this hotel has the best location!! Discreetly tucked away but it's in the midst of the sites, restaurants and shopping!! All within walking distance! My family and I were sad to be leaving this hotel and i would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto!! Thank you Solaria Nisihtetsu Kyoto Premier Hotel for such an enjoyable stay! Hope to be back soon! !
Exceptional”
Beautiful serene property. The twin garden, 31 sq meters, is a tight with luggage but so lovely we didn't mind. The western breakfast is one of the best breakfasts we have had in our lives mmm mmm. Wonderful male/female baths onsite. There are so many excellent hotel options in Kyoto to explore but we have already discussed returning to the Solaria Nishitetsu we found it that pleasant.
Quality hotel in a good location. Reasonable Price.”
Great room function. Comfortable bed. Cleanliness. Offer lots of toiletries, Pola brand. Staffs are helpful. Will love to stay here again when we come to Kyoto. Solaria Nishitetsu has never failed me. Good quality hotel Chain!
Good location, friendly staff”
We stayed 2 nights in Solaria Nishitetsu, the checkin was smooth, room adequately spacious, very clean with all amenities. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was international and Japanese. Location, is close to Sanyo station with access to key sightseeing spots.
Well located, comprehensive features ”
We booked this hotel for three nights at the last moment when we discovered our much more expensive hotel was undergoing large scale renovations, which they had not bothered to warn us about. At a much lower rate, the Solaria room had almost the same features. One particular feature of the room was that the toilet was in a separate room from the shower and sinks. The staff was exemplary - numerous smiling young men and women, each helpful, efficient and knowledgeable. The downstairs onsen was great. The location was perfect, next to the City Hall subway station, right by the river, 150 yards from a scenic Starbucks and 15 minutes walk along the river to the heart of Gion.
Excellent Hotel with Awesome Services”
This is the first Kyoto hotel I stayed in Japan for six days. Hotel staff is from front desk down to kitchen are extremely helpful and polite, I am truly impressed by the japanese people, from their attitude to the ways things are being done. Hotel room is always clean and tidy whenever I got back. Hotel location is conveniently located next to the shopping district. It is also within walking distance to multiple subway line. The hotel is definitely worth for Its values to money. As an experienced traveler, I would strongly recommend you not to miss this hotel. Almost everyone says Kyoto is a beautiful place to see, but I would like to add one thing to it, almost every Japanese’s face in Kyoto are filed with warm and heartily smiles. Love you, Kyoto!
Beautiful Hotel ”
Solaria was the perfect place to stay in Kyoto. Close to everything and near a metro station. The rooms were clean and the service top notch. I loved their onsen. The staff is so nice and accommodating.
Loved the indoor Onsen + Location”
We've been to Kyoto several times so we were curious to try this one out, especially since it was a new hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay here. The location is in a favorite part of Central Kyoto that we like, off of Kiyamachi Dori, which is a street with a small stream, with little restaurants, shops and cafes. It's also walking distance to Pontocho and the shopping arcade (covered market place). Our twin room faced the river. Personally, I thought it was "Ok"...the bed was fluffy, the amenities and toiletries were provided (POLA) and yukata to wear for the japanese bath. After staying in many hotels in Japan, it was a comfortable stay, but nothing really stood out about the room per se. The window view of the river was nice, but couldnt' entirely open for safety. I think if there was a balcony, that would've been the added plus. The real pleasure was the use of Indoor japanese bathhouse, which was a nice touch to end the day. Very urban and well designed. Really relaxing to end the day. Although we liked the hotel and enjoyed our stay, price wise, I think it was a lot compared to other hotels that could provide just as much satisfaction. The staff at the reception were generally helpful. Some were friendly and accommodating, while others kept a straight face. Overall, a positive review. I would recommend for 1st timers or even put my parents here. The location is great, it's modern, comfortable and easy access.
Great location, friendly staff, good amenities.”
I actually travelled with my mother (but no such option in this review and so I selected "couple"). Great location near Teramachi/ Nishiki & Nijo Castle and right next to subway station and near a bus stop that takes you to Kyoto Station. Also a short cab ride/ train to Gion. They provide top/ trousers for the public onsen and the room bathtub is divine (large & spacious so it can take a large man). Staff were attentive but sometimes early in the morning, you can't see anyone at the front desk so you will need to knock on the door of the office behind the front desk. Bit odd. Otherwise, great location but do bring their hotel card (with address) with you as not all taxis knew where it was located.
Spa like boutique hotel in perfect locatikn”
I am not a seasoned traveler and my pick of hotels usually run to the chain, family friendly type. I found this hotel after a thorough search and I’m happy to report that I was not disappointed in any aspect. The hotel is located in a lively spot close to shopping and food. It also allows you to access other locations such as Gion, very easily by foot. The room is spa-like, very clean and beautiful. I wish I had this hotel room everywhere I was in Japan. The service was impeccable. Always helpful and polite, even with my minimal Japanese, I had no trouble whatsoever in making any needs or wants known. The breakfast they serve is phenomenal- if you can get it, do so. They serve Japanese as well as Western fare for breakfast. The spa they have downstairs is amazing. I had the place to myself and it was restorative. Please read onsen etiquette before using the spa to acclimate yourself. All in all, I will only stay here if I ever get a chance to go to Kyoto again.
Comfortable, modern, relaxing”
This hotel has an excellent central location, walking distance to many excellent restaurants, bars, and shopping but also very close to Sanjo station, an airport limosuine stop to Kansai Airport, and walking distance for Osaka train connections at Kawaramachi station. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable and the Onsen in the basement is a great bonus.
Exceptional”
We loved this hotel so so so much. It was very very clean and nicely decorated. Location was awesome too. It was in the city centre and within a few walks from the Kamo river. Love the river!! Staff was awesome. They were really helpful. Helping us find our ways around Kyoto and nearby. The staff is one of the top things that came to my mind when remembering about this hotel:) Facilities were good too. We love the onsen! Will definitely go back there again next time we are in Kyoto!
New hotel with great river views!”
Nice hotel with great locations. We paid SGD 450/nite for a triple room which is not exactly cheap but align with Kyoto prices. Had great views of the Kamo river. This hotel is near train station (5min), shopping district (5 min) and Nishiki food street (10min) and also less than 10 min from Gion. Concierge was Super helpful who helps to book return bus tickets and recommend lots of restaurants to us. My only complaint was I feels itchy when lying on the bed ( I have very sensitive skin) though my family members do not feels it.
Excellent location, will return.”
I had done some research before booking but having never traveled to Kyoto I didnt really know where to stay, but I lucked out with this hotel... the location was A+++++ perfect for exactly what we wanted. It is at the start of the "quiet" historical area, next to a river and a canal, and really is a great launching point to explore Kyoto. We booked a river view room and had a view of the water and mountains, it was GREAT. We will certainly return.
Would not hesitate to re-book when we visit Kyoto again”
Stayed in this lovely hotel for 3 nights in early September 2017. Good location and close to the shinkansen station (Taxi fare around 2000 YEN). The public bath (only for hotel residents) was impressive. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had sent our luggage via takkyubin service from Karuizawa the day before our check-in date and were pleasantly surprised when informed by concierge our luggage was already waiting in our rooms when we checked in! We needed help with a restaurant reservation and they were happy to oblige as well. We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit Kyoto!
Exceptional”
The hotel was near the Sanjō Station in Kyoto and a 10-minute walk (using only the main street which was convenient) from the Karasuma Oike Station. The hotel was clean and the staff was courteous and helpful. The room was large enough to fit our luggage. It has a nice stand up shower with a bathtub next to it, separate toilet and separate sink area. There was also a sitting area. It is definitely worth the money to stay at a comfortable and convenient hotel.
Loved my stay here!”
Amazing staff! Kyoto was having torrential rain (1 million people evacuated) and they were so accommodating and helpful. My room (garden with bath) was amazing. Great retreat after spending the day out in lovely Kyoto (even in the downpour!). Beds were comfy. the breakfast buffet was delicious too! It’s located right next to a subway stop for easy traveling and the staff were bending over backwards to make sure you had everything you needed. Free umbrellas provided as well. I would definitely stay here again!!!
