About Somerset On The Pier Hobart

Description

Modified from a 1930s pier building, Somerset On The Pier Hobart is the idol of old world beauty in combination with contemporary style. Panoramic views of the River Derwent and historic Sullivan’s Cove can be enjoyed by hotel guests from the shores of Hobart’s waterfront. The property offers 56 one-bedroom and two-bedroom residences with complimentary Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchenettes, modern decor, fittings, and facilities. A loft-styled design boasts an ultimately spacious area for comfort. The hotel’s location is ideal in the heart of Hobart’s tourist attractions and business spots including Salamanca Place, Salamanca Market, Battery Point, Sullivan’s Cove, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, and the ferry to the Museum of Old and New Art. For dining options, Hobart’s best restaurants and bars are within reach of the hotel. And since Hobart is one of Australia’s most scenic capital cities, Somerset On The Pier Hobart is indeed an ideal accommodation for experiencing this amazing city.

Great views across the water
The view was spectacular and the location perfect. Looking over the water onto the Auorea, Glass house and Mt Wellington lights dancing on the water was a delight. Loved the mezzanine bedroom and separation from the living area.

Great place to stay
We always stay at this hotel due to its location and views over the water. Very handy to have a small kitchenette so you don't need to eat out for every meal. A tad noisy in the mornings as the walls are thin, unless we just had a loud speaking group next door. Try not to stay over the driveway.

Fabulous location, little bit of heaven sitting on the balcony looking at the marina and the Derwent River. Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Noisy heater, thin walls
As soon as we got in to the room, the heater was on and it was loud, very loud. Straight away we asked for a different room, the only one left was without a bath, that's ok we said. We got to room no 2, heater quieter however bathroom for disabled, no shower screen, no vanity unit. Not ideal for romantic weekend. Staff unapologetic and in fact seemed like we were just annoying to him. After all, they had been paid for the room already and taken a security deposit of $100 (debit card thing...). Room 3, suddenly found a spare without disabled bathroom when prior he said it was his last. Basic furniture, uncomfortable couch with no pillows, 1 small towel each to use at night and again in morning. They advertise free parking, but only 5 spots, if they are full you have to drive around for public spots. Better choices in Hobart for same money.
