A good place to stay in Ayutthaya Thailand”
I don't recommend the ground floor rooms unless, like me, you have moderately severe hearing loss and take out your hearing aids when you sleep. Otherwise the ground floor can be noisy with guest departures and returns. Ground floor also seems to have more trouble with slightly stale or mouldy smell. When I toured the upper floors neither of these issues seemed to exist. The staff was friendly and helpful, but sometimes hard to find and didn't volunteer suggestions of options or ad ons for activities related to my inquiries. Rooms and other facilities were clean and relatively well appointed. Towels were on the light weight side but adequate. Location is fairly central to the Island section of Ayutthaya with numerous nearby coffee and food options. Transportation options are available on site or nearby. Places of interest are mostly within walking distance, or a short bike, scooter or tuk-tuk ride. I'm likely stay there again if I return to Ayutthaya.

Good choice, but for someone, who likes hard mattress. It was too much. Otherwise was OK.

Friendly staff, great room”
We had an enjoyable stay at Somjai place. The staff was very friendly and we even got a bigger room than what we paid for. It is a little far from the temples but there is always a tuk tuk or motorcycle taxi available to take you. Likewise, you can rent a bicycle or motorbike from Somjai Place. It is also located very close to 'Falang (foreigner) Street' so if you are craving western food or like to be around other travelers it is just a walk away.

Very helpful staff; comfortable and clean”
I stayed three nights at this hotel while sightseeing around Ayutthaya. The staff (Tan) was very helpful with anything I needed - from a bottle opener, to more tissue and water, to maps and detailed information about what to see in Ayutthaya, to mailing postcards. The room was large, very clean and comfortable, quiet, and had *almost* everything I needed. The small balcony was a nice bonus. The one thing I would have liked was a way to make coffee in the room. (There is a terrific coffee stand in front of the hotel, but it is not open early enough to get coffee to have in your room before heading out for a day of sightseeing.) The hotel has no restaurant but it is not a very long walk to the evening walking street (with *excellent* food); just a bit further away are a couple of areas with several restaurants. Recommended.

great budget hotel”
I arrived at Somjai Place around 1.30 pm, they informed us to wait around 30-60 minutes before check in since the hotel was full at that time. Before, the officer gave me info about the tour that i could take around the city while drawing on the map. while waiting we went to the noodles resto not far from the hotel as his reccomendation also. After checking in, We rented motorbike from the hotel and going around the city. The room was quite spacious, it has extra bed, tv, fridge, clean toilet and small balcony at the back so i could wash some of my dirty laundry and hang it to dry there. The problem is only with the mattrass. it's a bit hard..but then i think it is worth the price. The location is not far from the station, and if ever i will come back to ayutthaya, most probably I will stay here again

Clean, quiet & comfortable room & good value.”
We were looking for a cheap hotel close to the centre of the town (close to the ruins). This hotel was clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. The room was large, with a comfortable bed, functional bathroom, aircon, and tv with a couple of channels in English language, and everything was clean and well looked after. There was ample on street parking opposite the hotel. We didn't try the internet, but passwords were provided at check-in without the need to ask. I have stayed in Ayutthaya a few times, and this is the best place by far in terms of cleanliness and value for money. The only slight downside is the lack of eating places close by. However, a 15-20 minute walk away there is a 'backpacker' area with a few bars and restaurants serving thai and international food at low prices.

Excellent choice ”
We stayed at the Somjai Place Hotel in Ayutthaya. It was centrally located, clean, with the staff friendly and helpful. We emphatically recommend it.

clean guesthouse good services ”
its not difficult to find, and in good location. Just right turn with few mins walk to historical sites & night market, left turn with few mins walk as well to 24 hours supermarket and mini bus station to bangkok victory monument. left turn about 10 mins walk to some bars with many westerners, sometimes those bars with live band (mainly on Sats) the owner keeps the hotel very clean, only a bit bad is too many mosquitoes, but im sure same case happen to all other guesthouses, or even worse, as most guesthouses are only rooms with fans instead of air con for the basic room type, so im still fine with it. Only need to spray some mosquito repellent then all mosquitoesssss gone The owner (im sorry i forget his name provided me a very informative map. he knows Ayutthaya well, so he probably can provide guests lots of useful information. He can also offer guests a free bike, sad that im afraid of riding it alone, without trying it. If i have chance to come back Thailand, definitely i will come back this guesthouse again!! i like here Thank you

I love this place!”
After staying in Bangkok for two weeks in the cheapest crappiest hostel we could find, we stumble upon this place on agoda. We came here expecting the worst, and oh my god were we wrong.Admittedly, I have little experience with hostels around south east asia, this is only our second one, but truly this has been) a refreshing experience. The hostel/hotel looks amazing, not the usual run down dirty you see all over Bangkok, the rooms are huge, with huge soft spring beds, you get a fridge, a TV (but it only has, like, 3 english speaking channels on it- Syfy, Sony entertainment channel, and universal, which are not bad at all), lots of electrical plugs (none near the bed though), a lan connection (bring your router), wifi, air conditioner, hot water, and a little balcony where you can sit and smoke. The location is great, as it's very close to the train station if you cross the river by the ferry west of the station, the staff is great, we were welcomed by Tom, the youngest of the family, who is always eager to help, has good english, and without even asking pulled out a map and told us exactly where to go. There bicycle and bike rentals right down stairs (50 and 200 bahts per day), but I'm sure that's normal around here. Anyway, for the price it's going for on agoda right now, 360 baht for a double room, it is a steal, considering we were paying 430 for the cheapest tiniest double room with a fan in Bangkok. The only cons are- Wifi doesn't reach all the rooms, so make sure you get a room close to the router, and the hostel might be a bit hard to find as it's not on the main road, but a little bit off of it, we didn't have any trouble, but you might, I don't know. Oh and they also give you little soaps and shampoos which was really cool.

Ayithaya with Thai experience”
We had a family room for four. A bit cramped, but we needed just a place to shower and sleep. The hotel had nice little touches like a sink on tha balcony good for laundry and lots of extra hangers on the balcony for drying laundry. The hotel is away from the main street with all the other hotels and was nicely quiet. It was also very conveniently located close to food stalls with authentic Thai cooking day or night. They rent decent bicycles and it is an easy two block bike ride to the closest temples (the one with the Budda head in the roots).

spacy, good location”
We stayed for 3 nights and it was good enough for the money we payed. It is located in the centre of Ayutthaya city, 10 mins away from a river. Room was big enough, while bathroom was little bit tiny. Free coffee and hot water was available, so that we could able to have cup noodles as well. Many dogs were wandering outside at night, so you should be careful for them.

Good overall, great quality/price hotel”
We went to Ayutthaya for two nights and our choice stopped at Somjai's Place Ayutthaya because the hotel is between the train station from Bangkok and the main temples of Ayutthaya. I liked very much the entrance garden and the staff was attentive and comprehensive. There was i lot of information for the tourists and it was the only hotel with the train schedule of Thailand which i really appreciated (hard to find on the net by the way). The room was good for the price, comfortable, clean, quiet. I didnt expect a five star room here but the essentials were met. We rent 2 bicycles for the day at 100 bath each with a lock and everything went OK. Be extremely CAREFUL with traffic, it was scary at the main streets intersections!!! No convenient store near but there is restaurants close and a night market two streets away.

Good for the price”
The hotel was good for the price - large room, quiet and off of the main street, and security was good. It had a nice atmosphere and offered tour bookings and directions to the main sites in Ayutthaya. The bed was very hard but that's common in Thailand. It was nice having a refrigerator in the room and everything was clean. The only thing I would say is to skip breakfast (3 pieces of toast and a single cup of coffee). There were great coffee shops and restaurants around the area though so this place is still worth it for the price.

good price great quality”
The price is very good and the room is very clean and comfortable. Easy to access to the surrounded by nearby attraction places in Ayutthaya. The internet is very fats. I really love and enjoy living there and would love to come back again.

Small hidden resting place, in center of Ayutthaya”
This place has an excellent location in the middle of the city, close to places of interest in Ayutthaya. When we were there, the receptionist (a Thai guy) was friendly, provided some good advice for dinner place, and able to speak English fluently. Happy with the service. They also provide rental service for bike & scooters at a decent price, if you haven't got your own transport to explore surrounding areas. However, the exact location is a little bit hidden , as it lies behind the buildings from the main road with a small entrance. The sign on the main road helps to let people know that the hotel is there.

good location with friendly staff”
the stuff was friendly and gave me a map of Ayutthaya, as well as some tips as to best restaurants and things to do and when to go. They also arranged for a tuk-tuk ride for a convenient price (lower than the ones I had taken by myself). the hotel is well located - close to the railway station and close to the center. Ayutthaya is tiny in any case, so you wont have problems getting lost.

Centrally located good budget hotel”
Stayed one night at triple bedroom on ground floor. No complimentary breakfast. Local Thai breakfast easily available at stalls and shops within walking distance . Centrally located hotel with public transportation nearby. Friendly staff will advise you how to go around the city either on hourly charged tour by tuk-tuk or on your own by renting motorbikes or bicycles. Nothing much to complain about Somjai Place except for poor reception of free wifi at the ground floor. Recommended good budget hotel.
