Extra ordinary services”
my family and i have had a very pleasant stay in Sonnien last week. And i want to specially highlight the extra miles the hotel had stretched during our stay; we were trapped at the Taipei Station by the DouJuan typhoon and couldn't get a taxi back to hotel. I called and asked the hotel to try get us a taxi to pick us and send us back to hotel; despite numerous attempts by the hotel front desk, they have decided to come personally to rescue us. And the driver was the owner of the Sonnien Hotel!! And this service was provided at no extra charge to our room!!! (i have similar encounter elsewhere where fees is charged) Words can't describe how grateful we were and touched by this act of concern during that terrifying weather conditions. I will highly recommend this hotel to all my friends who are travelling to Taiepi. Well done, the boss and all staff at Sonnien
Great location, nice rooms & amenities, and awesome service”
Hotel is located in between 2 mrt stations with approximately 5 minutes walk away. There's an eatery in about 3 mins walk that serve local heartwarming breakfast. The room is great too. All in all, a great stay at Sonnien Hotel. No doubt to book again when I'm in Taipei!
Very decent stay”
Location - the hotel is just a few stops away from everything - xi men ding, taipei station, yong kang food street. Staff - friendly and knowledgeable. give good recommendation on food and places to go. always willing to help. Room - new, very clean and spacious given its upscale location and price. the only thing that the hotel may need to improve is their breakfast. extend the breakfast hour and improve the taste of the food. Also, there were times where there were no staff at the front desk during the day - maybe short of manpower? A little weird for a 4-star hotel. Overall, i would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for a decent stay in Taipei.
Decent Hotel but for the price there are ones with even better locations in Taipei. ”
I just got back home from my 5 day trip to Taipei. Sonnien was a good hotel. The reception folks were quick and friendly. The room was in good condition. The amenities (TV, Wi-fi, toiletries) were all good, minus the shaving supplies. Its location is also decent. just a small walk from two different train lines and one of which is next to Da'an park which had a three day jazz concert going on while I was there. My room's view was quite bad. It just overlooked some shoddy buildings mostly. I would imagine all rooms xx01, 02, and 03 will have the same kind of view. I didn't make much use of the hotel other than as a place to sleep so having a place better situated next to the shopping districts would have been better. That said, the location of Sonnien is very beautiful. the main road in front of it has a small strip of a park between the two sections of traffic that is pretty and leads down towards Taipei 101.
Great Value ”
I had to stay in this hotel for one night due to work and they nicely upgraded my room. Everything was clean and organized. I got a bargain. Will definitely consider Sonnien the next time when I am in town.
Great hotel in Taipei”
I enjoyed my stay at Sonnien Hotel as the room is new and spacious. I also enjoyed its location as it is near to 2 MRT stations.
We had visited the hotel for many times, unfortunately, our room was a bit smaller than before ( because of some specific room , I hope I would not get back to the the same room next time) . Overall speaking, everything was fine, staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean as before, but the breakfast was less choice as b4. The fruit choice was limited that time , only the same choices of 2 -3 for my 3/4 days staying , so as the hot dishes ( I almost ate the same things for 3/4 days ) . Besides , I also missed the waiters and waitress whom I met 2 yrs b4. I didn't see them during that trip, they gave me good impressions and memories with Sonnien !! Wish them good and bright fortune !! Furthermore, I had to say thanks to the reception man, who chased back my umbrella ( which was taken by a china man without asking ) near the police station. I hope I would visit the hotel soon !!
Very clean and spacious”
I stayed 2 nights in the executive room, which was I think very clean, quiet and spacious for 1 person. There were both shower booth and bathtub in bathroom, and those were very clean and new. I also really liked shower amenities such as shampoo, bodyshampoo and lotion, which I think were high quality ones that are rarely found in hotels. Breakfast was okay, too. I would stay here again if I visit Taipei later. Pretty satisfied!
Large room but not much else”
The Sonnien hotel is reasonably priced for the size of our room and laundry rooms were good but there is not much else to compliment the stay. The hotel is awkwardly placed on a one way street with about 10 lanes of traffic. Quiet often we were dropped off on the other side of the road and made to cross the road because the taxi driver took the wrong lane. There is no parking even for taxis in front of the hotel so catching and departing from a taxi is done often in congested traffic. The most disappointing part of our stay was the thermostat in our room was stuck at 23.5 degrees Celsius. Changing it to 16, 18 or 20 didn't make a difference. We told reception about it but they blamed the weather outside and said if outside was 20 degrees then inside would have to be a few degrees more then that. When the temperature outside was ~10-14 for the next few days our room's temperature was still 23.5 making it hard to sleep for the days we stayed there. They supplied a fan but that didn't help much in terms of cooling down the room. The hotel is also relatively unknown and saying the name of he hotel to taxi drivers never worked. The "please take me here" card worked relatively well though.
very comfortable stay”
Our stay at Sonnien was very pleasant,we return to it twice in a week of traveling.
Small but very clean”
I love the location of the hotel . it is not exactly on the main streets of Taipei, but it is a good residential area ~ next to a police station, and there are eateries and MRT within 5- 10 mins of walking distance. I would stay here again! Many times.
Great location, we love it as it is not too busy in the area. ”
Great location. Close to the mrt and Daan Park. Not too busy in this area. Nice hotpot down the road. Clean and bright room, all good.
Price - a midrange hotel so price was average Usd100 per night for twin room. Facilities - good that hotel had a small bar but no tv. Would have been nice to watch tv while having a drink. Didn't use the gym. Don't think there's a pool. Didn't eat in the hotel. Location was ok. Not in a busy hectic area. Train station is a 10 min walk. Plenty of taxis around. A few local restaurants scattered around the neighborhood. Room - twin single beds. Clean room. English and Japanese tv channels available. Sizable bathroom. Walkin shower. Comfy bed. Room blinds didn't completely blocked out the sunlight. dont expect breathtaking views because hotel is not that high. Front desk - professional and courteous!
Would visit again!”
Next time we come to Taipei we would consider coming back again! And we would recommend to friends and family! Hopefully we would get good deals though! But over all we were impressed!
Spacious in great location”
If you are looking for a hotel away from shopping streets with space to stay, this could be the one. The hotel is new, the room we stayed is spacious and its location is quiet on an avenue about 10 minutes' walk from the Blue and Organge line station. One thing you have to accept is the breakfast is the same over the past 4 nights we stayed. I don't mind as long as it had freshly brewed coffee.
Staff are friendly and the hotel is in a great area - lots of things are within easy walking distance. Fronting a major road, but very little road noise in the rooms. Rooms dont feel cramped, and the bathrooms are cleaned. Breakfast is included, but even otherwise, the restaurant is very reasonable and without service charge. Popular among locals too - during our stay, at least twice it was closed off for private events.
Relaxing and quiet”
This hotel is not next door to those busy commercial shopping place but it is not too far from MRT stations which you could take to go to almost all major tourist attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean and simply decorated, which created a calm and relaxing environment. The only improvement I wish for is more towel bars. For two person, you need more than on bar to hang your wet towels.
Location. Helpful staff. Cleanliness”
Overall, thumbs up! Will consider Booking this hotel if I travel to taipei again. Cheers!
Friendly efficient staff; good breakfast; good room; good location. Our third stay here and will continue to be our choice in Taipei.
Location is great, it's a new hotel right in the middle of Taipei. Can't go wrong, staff was polite and very helpful. Value for money is great, I would definitely stay again if I ever come back to Taipei.
