A quiet respite near the major sites in Bangkok”
I chose Sourire from Agoda due to its location on the island and within walking distance of the major wats, palace, and Khao San Road. It lived up to my expectations, and despite other reviews neither my taxi from the airport nor I had a hard time finding it off the main road. Perhaps the signs are new, but they worked perfectly! I really enjoyed waking up and walking to where I most wanted to go in Bangkok, then just took a tuk-tuk to the "downtown" shopping area, which frankly I would not bother doing anyway - it just looks like any western mall inside... Stay at the Sourire, walk to what you want to see, get cheap foot massages, cheaper food, and plenty of sites and laughs around Khao San Road!

Lovely Hotel, Perfect Location & Brilliant Service”
we stayed here for 3 nights in april 2012. the hotel is located only a few minutes from khaosan road yet you would never know as it is very peaceful, almost silent, so you can get a good nights sleep! it is situated down a lane just off the main road and is decorated well with lots of potted plants and shrubbery. the rooms are very clean, spacious and decorated to a high standard. there is air con in all rooms, wi-fi on all floors, and a high standard breakfast tos et you up for the day ahead. all the hotel staff we encountered were very courteous and polite and made us feel welcome, they helped us with taxis and tuk tuks and boats depending where we were going in bangkok. i would definetly return to this hotel if i go back to bangkok. only a few minutes walk from the mecca that is khaosan road yet quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. only 2mins walk from a main road - easy to get taxis downtown. fabulous place!

We stayed at Sourire two nights. It was a great launching point for venturing into Bangkok, and was near Khaosan Road which us popular with tourists. The staff were fantastic, extremely helpful and the breakfast included in the reservation was delicious. The room was clean and the WiFi connection was strong. Would stay again.

The best kept secret in the heart of historic downtown!”
Charming leafy entrance beckons inside this quiet oasis located a five-minute walk to the Democracy monument. Kao San Road is a short walk away too if you fancy a little higher energy. The English-speaking Thai staff and owner (whom we saw often) are lovely and accommodating. We booked two tours through the hotel: the canal tour (including a short visit to a nearby floating market) and the dinner boat cruise (we were on the top deck - a must if you can get it!). As I was travelling with my dad, a senior, this was perfect for us, although people who have more time and are more mobile may wish to make the trip to the larger floating market. The dinner cruise was a standout event - we enjoyed the entertainment (70's and earlier cover band, Elvis impersonator - again, may not be for everyone, BUT the company os very professional, wait staff extremely attentive, departure and arrival on time, food quite good - a mix of Thai and international). Lovely views of the Bangkok skyline from the boat. The hotel's driver was excellent and on time. We also booked our return taxi to the airport. You pay a little more for the privilege, but again, it met our needs. (ie. 6am departure! - the trip only took 35 minutes at that time of day). The hotel owner is often present and as she herself said, "this hotel is my passion!" I would definitely return to this hotel and have already recommended it to a colleague. The lobby area has seating and outside table as well. We enjoyed the fact that we could get a drink in the evening also. Breakfast was tasty - egg, fruit, toast and excellent coffee. Don't expect to eat and go, though. Each breakfast is lovingly prepared as it is ordered - so save a few minutes to enjoy the greenery and perhaps strike up a conversation with your table neighbour! The bedroom was spacious (2 bed) and clean. Television and A/C worked well. The shower was hot and good pressure. Fridge stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks. Only a few small thing

Comfortable stay near palace and museum”
Sourire is a comfortable hotel. The highlight is definitely the big breakfast. The staff are very friendly and able to provide travel advice. My room was spacious and equipped with everything you nee, but the bathroom was cramped. The room was also quite dark, which the photos do honestly show. It takes about 7 minutes to walk to Khao San Rd for food and 20 minutes to walk to the palace. As a solo female traveller I was initially a bit nervous walking the last 200m back to the hotel at night as it's in a quiet laneway, but there were never any problems. I was disappointed when they quoted me 600 baht to organise a taxi to the airport. I ended up hailing a taxi and paying 220 baht using the meter. It's reasonable to charge a little extra for the convenience of organising the taxi, but more than double is disappointing.

Best Hotel for Medium Budget Travellers”
First, It has the location which is very close to lots of famous place. It is on the very center of Bangkok. A lot of bus stations and taxi, tuk tuk around there. Khao San Road just 5 mins walk, 15 mins to The Royal Place, 15 mins to Golden Buddha Temple,... Through It in the center but It still so quiet and peaceful. Secondly, price is cheap. Almost 200 usd for 3 nights in Deluxe room. Idk about the other room but mine was amazing. All facilities are on the good condition. Room services is also great. You will not have to worry about your stuffs. It stay where it is when you came back. I left money and jewelry on the table but they were not move. Thirdly, breakfast and informations. You will get your breakfast served perfectionaly and delicious. And you will provided a card have name of the hotel in Thais, a map of famous places they made for traveling. And you are free to ask informations. They are very kind to explain detaily for you. My first trip to Thailand and love this hotel.

Excellent Choice”
We stayed just two nights in Bangkok and can certainly recommend this hotel for its welcome, comfort, cleanliness and convenience. It is located near Democracy Monument so reasonably close to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Khao San Road, the Chao Phraya River and a good selection of restaurants. Our room was clean with a comfortable bed, excellent WiFi. television, and a very small bathroom with hot water. A simple breakfast, served in their pleasant restaurant, is included in the room price and comprises a selection of fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order with toast & jam, etc., coffee or tea served by friendly, cheerful staff. We can highly recommend this accommodation. An excellent choice for a stay in Bangkok.

Central location yet quiet”
This hotel is just off the Democracy monument, within 25 minutes walk - evading traffic included - to the Grand Palace, boats, Khaosan Rd, we didn't stay long enough to find out what is close by. Breakfast is adequate, but can get tiring after a few days. The facilities are a tad worn, yet charming, and they get by with small fixes. Our bathroom had shower water draining into the main floor, so be careful. Worth a small investment for a safety correction. Rooms were large. Would be nice to have cable though. Staff is friendly and helpful. They can assist in booking rides, shows, tours etc. just be sure you are clear on price and timing. They allowed us a late check out and to store a piece of luggage for a week, for free. I would come back- maybe with a different bathroom.

Nice, quiet hotel 10 mins walk from Khao San”
This hotel is a little difficult to find especially at night as it's hidden from the main road. Our taxi driver drove us around in circles for an hour or so with no luck (despite telling us he knew where it was). The easiest way to get there is to ask your driver to take you to the 'Democracy Monument'. You'll see a McDonalds and just across from that the 'Sidewalk Cafe'. Just to the right of the Sidewalk Cafe there's an un-sign posted alley way. Walk down the end of the alley and you'll find Sourire Hotel. It's a quiet little hotel far enough away from the noise and chaos of Khao San to feel like a safe haven, but easily within walking distance when you feel like mixing it with the crowds. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast is a nice start to the day. The only English language TV channel is RT (news channel), but you probably won't be watching a lot of TV anyway. The rooms were well set up and provided good value for money. I would stay here again.

Great location, friendly staff”
the location is ideal for first time visitors to bangkok--within walking distance of the grand palace, national museum. it is not far from khao san road, but totally removed from the spring break/frat party atmosphere of all that. you can walk to a boat stop (pra athit) or go by cab for just over one dollar. be sure to ask about the canal boat behind the golden mount which is cheap, fast and interesting--it will get you to siam square shopping area in 10 minutes. it's on a quiet street just off a main avenue. rooms are simply furnished with wood floors and furniture, very clean. there was a lumpy mattress in our room and we were quicky moved to another, better room--so do check the bed before you settle in. the breaksfast room and lobby are attractive, although the coffee was terrible. i've stayed at the nearby royal hotel--this is a far better option.

We loved staying at sourire. We loved the location. Very enviting cosy clean lobby and rooms. Lovely breakfast. very nice welcoming and helpful staff. The room and especially the bathroom in the regular room is small some manuvering needed but we did not mind it at all because of all the other advantages. Greatly recommended.

Nice hotel, quiet, friendly staff”
this hotel is quiet and clean, run by very friendly staff. it is in a good location close to khaosan rd and not far from the watertaxis into siam square etc. we stayed in their basic room which was good (a little small)with a tiny bathroom - you could rest your head on the wall in front while using the toilet! nice clean sheets and huge fluffy towels in the room. no curtains on the windows (glass bricks) which made a sleep in a little problematic. wifi signal is pretty weak which was an issue. i liked this place, have stayed twice and will stay again

Would stay here again... if the protests are over”
We had chosen Sourire based on other reviews and location in proximity to certain sites we wanted to see. What we didn't expect was that the protests (that have been affecting Bangkok over the past two months) would be camped out a few hundred meters from the hotel. Although there was a back entrance that made getting in/out of the hotel manageable, falling asleep to the sound of thousands of protesters meant we didn't stay here on our way back through Bangkok. I'd stay here again, but only once Democracy Monument isn't the home base for the protests.

Friendly staff, excellent location”
We loved this hotel, the location was perfect for our stay. close to Kho san road but far enough away from the madness. The staff are friendly and will go that extra mile to please. The rooms are basic but have all you need for the stay in bangkok. The alley/lane to get to the hotel is dark but the dog at the end protects his area keeping people at bay..... we enjoyed our stay here very much.

As a family of four, we booked a family room and we had plenty of space. The room was very spacious-included a sitting area with a table and chairs-as was the bathroom. The location is perfect if you want to be near-but not too close-to Khao San Road, as it’s less than a 10 min.walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful whether you’re looking to book a taxi or need directions somewhere. The breakfast is basic. It’s a set breakfast - not a “help yourself” buffet as is common at many hotels now. It includes coffee, juice, a small plate of fruit, toast and eggs. It’s adequate and the ambiance is lovely. It’s like eating in someone’s dining room rather than a hotel. The WiFi doesn’t always work great, but worked fine for the most part. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking to stay somewhere that has Thai character and feels more like home than hotel...

Laid back comfort”
I chose Sourire for it's location in old Bangkok and nearness to Khao San Road. It is a comfy boutique style hotel with smallish rooms and tiny bathroom. But it has charm and the staff provide excellent service. Worth it!
