Hands down, THE best place to stay in Bohol.”
Having already been to Bohol twice, we were debating whether to go back or visit one of the other islands. I was captivated by South Palms Resort's web site and customer reviews but a bit skeptical about how good the resort looked in pictures. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and immediately knew we made the right choice. It is exactly like the beautiful pictures; even the rather iconic beach chairs and green umbrellas lined up in a row on the beach. We had a deluxe beach front room with only a short stretch through the palm trees to reach the fine white sand of Bolod Beach. The layout of the resort is great and everything is easily accessible. The chairs at the poolside bar and bean bags on the beach in a variety of colors gives you a sense of character and comfort. The breakfast buffet had a variety of choices and we found ourselves sitting in the restaurant for a few hours each morning. Although the restaurant menu had a mix, the food seemed a little off par with the rest of the resort and the beach buffet dinner was a little disappointing. Nevertheless, it didn't detract from our overall satisfaction and enjoyment of the rest the property had to offer. Cocktails at the bar were mixed well and tasted great. Our room was excellent, nice and new and decorated well. The best thing for us was the uniquely genuine friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. It's a testament to the high standards and importance the resort ownership places on hiring the right people and training them to accommodate their guests in every way. I've honestly never been to a 5-star resort and been treated as well as we were treated at South Palms Resort. Filipinos are very friendly as a people and it's deeply ingrained in their culture but the South Palms Resort staff takes it to a whole other level. If you've never been to Bohol or have never stayed at South Palms Resort, you really don't know what you're missing. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
For me, it is the best resort in Panglao, Bohol. The place is massive, they could have built more buildings, instead they maintained the natural beauty of the place which made this resort a real paradise. The white sand beach is very wide and long, I think about 2 km and they have a nice sand bar right in front when low tide. I especially love their swing beds and hammocks all over the place under hundreds of palm trees! Oh and the free buffet breakfast is so good! My room is elegantly decorated with complete toiletries, robes, mini bar..etc. If you are looking for a true tropical island getaway, this is it! I must commend their staff too, they are obviously well trained, very courteous, attentive and always greets you with a sweet smile. I had an ala carte dinner while they also have a semi-buffet menu. I asked how I can avail of the panna cotta desert they served for the semi-buffet which is not in their ala carte menu, to my surprise they served it for free to my table. Maybe it was already late and most of their guests finished their dinner already, but still..Wow, such a generous management! Another incident, I only realized that I forgot my wallet into the safety box from our room when I was already in the airport. I called and in a few mins they got back to me and found it, I asked if they can bring it to the airport and charge me for it, I was expecting to pay the amount for their standard fee for airport pick up. But another surprise! They insisted to bring it to me without any charge! The driver also made it on time just before I boarded my plane. I am so so pleased and wowed on how they take care of their guests. Things like these are difficult to find nowadays, nothing is free anymore. If you want a well spent vacation where you can relax, be pampered, make your saved money worth and indulge on nature's beauty, this is definitely the place to go in Bohol! Thank you South Palms, I will definitely see you again! :)
Excellent resort experience”
It s the first time to visit Philippine , I guess this country was dirty before but change my mindset after stayed in south palms , it was a wonderful hotel Although Bohol was a bit far away to Cebu , if you want to select Bohol , you should accept it s far location. I took the business class for speed boat and it s nice I request for the resort shuttle for 1st day pier to resort and last day resort to pier, and when you need to go alona beach , you better prepare a local driver contact because resort shuttle was a bit experience , such as double and triple price This resort enjoy a excellent beach view and was clean and tidy , I stayed in the sea view villa and the room was big and nice , just need to walk 30 seconds to restaurant and walk 10 secs to the pool ... I remember it s the most expensive room for couple Our plan which included breakfast and dinner which was a delicious buffet with different meal everyday, the waiter welcoming was polite with warm smile , they could remember my surname and my favour . There was one point that I don't like , but I guess happened for all hotel in Philippine, they need to charge all every minor thing , and I expected some of them should included in service because I paid a high price ~ E.g resort shuttle to pier , every washing service.... Etc Finally , resort had provided a nice travel tour plan , but the price was high such as double when compare with alona beach , you can reach alona at the first night and seek for local boat supplier with a lower price It s the truth , I finally took the resort boat because I need service , privacy , 1 to 1 guard service to my wife in the sea , the guard was from the diving centre in resort which is professional and he was able to swim in the sea with is on big wave , which the local boat supplier won't do it ( my wife can't swim well) That's why It s worth for me to pay a double price , it s for your reference Thanks
Only My Most Relaxing Resort Vacation”
The first time I came to South Palms (4 July 2014 to 5 July 2014), a teenage cousin of mine had said, "Now I have an idea where to get married." I can see what he meant. Everything about the resort hotel is appropriate for the event he had in mind. Best features: - the white sand beach, - the pristine swimming pool and ocean waters, - the delicious food and their artful presentation, - the accommodating and friendly staff (Oceanica staff, bellboys, beach sweepers, and several front office staff), - the myriad of palms that make the property so lush, - the gym and other sporting facilities (tennis court and beach volleyball), - the man-made forest that adds a touch of mystery to the place, and - the placement of the rooms and villas that still afford maximum privacy even when the resort hotel is fully-booked. South Palms is not only a perfect wedding venue. It is also a perfect getaway vacation that offers privacy and is considerably better than some resorts and indoor and outdoor restaurants along Bolod Beach and even those along Alona Beach. We may think that the hotel prices are somewhat steep (room rates and food). However, in exchange for those rates, you get a luxurious room and the freebies that come with it (especially the turn-down service with complimentary Peanut Kisses), delicious food and excellent restaurant service, the long stretch of private beach, and the warm smile and greeting you get from every hotel staff you meet. I recommend South Palms for the food, the room accommodations, and the beach. You will find that staying at the resort may be a truly unforgettable experience for you.
South Palms Resort provides a very relaxing vibe. The place is so grand and peaceful. They are able to effectively maintain the vast space of trees and cottages, not to mention the long strip of the beach they occupy. All over the place, there are hammocks and swing beds that you can use to rest. The cottages are well maintained and clean. We booked the Garden View cottage and it exceeded our expectation in it's location. The staff are all very accommodating and friendly. Not one of them fails to greet you when you pass them by anytime of the day. Upon check-in, they greeted us with coconut necklaces, shaped like a heart. They also offered us cucumber juice and cold towels. One front desk staff, Jojie, even assisted me in getting a birthday cake for my husband. Robel and Joey from Oceanica Resto gave birthday surprises for my husband, and they assisted me in our dinner reservations. We enjoyed our stay in Panglao mainly because of South Palms. Thank you South Palms Resort!
LOVED OUR STAY AT SOUTH PALMS PANGLAO! ”
My family and I stayed for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time. Beach is so pristine and quiet. The hotel was full but we felt as if we were the only ones. Bed sheets are clean and new, the bed and bathrooms were very well maintained. It was a pleasant surprise since I had never heard of South Palms before reading it in Agoda. For me, Panglao, Bohol has surpassed Boracay in terms Philippine vacation destinations. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful and relaxing vacation that gets you back to nature at a reasonable price....SOUTH PALMS RESORT PANGLAO is the resort for you.... My family and I will definitely be back! 4 out of 5 stars!
Great stay, wished we stayed longer”
My wife and I were quite surprised how nice South Palms resort was. We already half-expected that the place would be beautiful, but staying there was something else! The resort's beachfront was very wide. It was difficult to decide if it was better to soak in their infinity pool or swim in the sea. The rooms were great. We've always preferred cabanas/huts over "building type resorts" and we were not disappointed. Their smiling and courteous staff go above and beyond to make your stay very relaxing and enjoyable (example-- they looked for someone to play tennis with me and have arranged for mailing of the iPhone charger we left after checkout.) As for food, there was a "mongolian barbecue night" one night and possibly other themes on other nights (unsure because we only stayed 4d/3n). You can certainly order fresh seafood to be prepared for you or just order room service. During our stay, we managed to squeeze in one day for dolphin chasing, snorkelling at the Balicasag marine sanctuary (beautiful corals and sea turtles) and trying our first "swaki" (sea urchin) at Virgin Island. Virgin Island itself was a bit disappointing (it was too crowded with people taking selfies). That was a full-packed day, but the couple spa (requested to be done in our room) took all the tiredness away! We spent the other days soaking in the sun and ordering drinks by the pools. Overall- a great experience. Hoping to stay there again soon!
Exellent Bohol/Panglao Destination”
Gorgeous resort situated on a lengthy beach. Rooms are very clean, plumbing (including hot water) works well. Toilletries, bottled water and hair dryer are provided. We were in a "garden view" room with two doubles, but the resort combined them into a "super king" which worked well, and from the front we could actualy see a decent bit of the beach (your mileage may vary). The resort also has a "pillow menu" so you can get whatever firmness of pillow rocks your world (the defaults worked fine for us). Room quality is among the best that you will get in the Visayas. On-premise restaraunt is very good. Our rate included breakfast, which was a nice combo of western (omlettes, eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, etc.) and Filipino, with Eastern additions like Congee and Kimchee also thrown in. Pizza was suprisingly good (4 cheese especially), and the chicken halang halang was really good. Menu is helpful in breaking out what has nuts, and what is vegetarian and halal friendly. (If you want a change of pace, the only restaurant we found worth the trouble to get to is Pearl at Linaw Resort, which is excellent). Staff was uniformally friendly and helpful, and it's worth engaging them to learn about the area. The three times-a-day shuttle to Alona Beach drops you off in a tourist area, near lots of smaller dive resorts and bars. We had fun walking along the numerous small bars built into small dive resorts, but other than being cheaper to drink and eat at, there wasn't much in the areas that exceeds what you will get at South Palms. There are suprisingly few shops where you could can get decent souveniers or even a Panglao t-shirt. Only two things that kept everything from being full marks. First, the wifi was pretty poor, and this was true for people with iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, etc. The resort's connectivity must be pretty good, though, because their business center's computer connectivity was decent. My wife and I are both avid divers, and found the on-pre
It was our first time in Bohol and booked South Palms based on the great reviews and competitive pricing. The facilities are first rate. Having access to a private beach with no one trying to sell us something every 2 minutes was so great. Clean rooms, wonderful staff. My sons enjoyed the pool and free bikes. This resort is pretty secluded so the only con is that you can't really walk to other restaurants outside the resort. The restaurant on site is nice but somewhat pricey for the amount of food you get. The buffet breakfast included with our stay was really good. They changed the offerings everyday. We used their airport transport leaving the resort and the driver and customer service manager who escorted us were really friendly. We would definitely stay here again!
Our long weekend getaway!”
Bohol had always been very memorable to me and my husband since this is the place where we had our first out of town plane trip when we were still bf/gf. Now, we brought along our 2yr old son with us. Since our very handful toddler is with us, we wanted to stay in a private, beautiful and beachfront resort where we can just relax. Fortunately, we found South Palms Resort. Exclusivity indeed. Beachfront its is! The long stretch of the beach is amazing. We booked a deluxe beachfront room and we are very happy with it. The whole staff of the resort are very courteous and accommodating. They are kid friendly as well. When we dine in at Oceanica, they provided my son with his own kiddie plate, fork & spoon, and kiddie cup. That is definitely plus points for them! We would definitely be coming back to this resort and would gladly recommend it to our friends.
Excellent service, amazing resort, beautiful beach!”
This resort is amazing place. I stayed here 7 nights with my wife, which was our honeymoon trip. Even we were unfortunate with rainy weather, we had a great time. Outdoors - South Palms is outdoors resort with cottage style/small villa accommodation, all single story buildings which wouldnt give you a feeling of hotel style accommodation. Rooms are all along the resort private beach. Hotel stuff is very diligent in cleaning the resort beach and garden daily so you wouldnt see many fallen leaves and also they clean any seaweed from the beach shore. Of course expect that its open nature area therefore prepare your repellent. Reception and restaurant area uses Burtsbees kind of smell repellent which is not too intimidating and so there are no mosquitoes around. Restaurant - I would highlight breakfast, that one is amazing, great choice and every day new hot food bar. You literally dont need lunch that day if you eat well for breakfast. They also provide breakfast box in case you have some trip early morning, selection is quite wide and comes with drink, water and fresh fruit selection. Restaurants offer a la carte menu which has a bit limited selection and also is shared for their bar menu, reason is most likely their daily dinner options of all you can eat buffet with quite big choice. They also offer fresh fish selection, price is based on weight. I would say that quality of food is satisfactory and maintains its level, but do not expect high class restaurant specialties. Bar and restaurant offers variety of drinks and fresh fruit shakes. Prices are higher than you would found in Alona beach restaurants, but comparable to other separate resorts restaurants. Accommodation - we had a double room with ocean view, kind-sized bed. View was very nice and room was very clean. Housekeeping coming in the morning and also during dinner time. They offer great menu of pillows for best sleep which we used immediately as soft pillows did not suit us well. We had small flies ap
Quiet, Relaxing, Soothing”
I loved it! At first I was surprised to find out that someone used my account to book a trip to South Palms. I even tried to cancel it via Agoda's customer care hotline. Apparently my husband wanted to surprise me. Good thing he did. The resort was amazing! Very private. There were bean bags at the beach which their guests can use. The sand was powdery creamy. Water was clear. There are hammocks scattered all over the property which you can use. Their food is pretty pricey though. Buffet breakfast for an additional head is P688 and dinner is P1,088. Transportation is at P800/trip (one way) within Panglao. You can also rent a car from them to tour parts of Bohol of P3,000+. Overall, I would stay there again.
An Amazing Place”
South Palms Resort is an amazing resort. We stayed at their Premium Beach Front which has direct access to the great beach from the bedroom and from the living room. It also has direct access to the pool. A small balcony with 2 chairs and a small table faces the beach and it's such a relaxing place to just sit and stare at the sea. There are also lounging chairs and tables, hammocks, and swinging beds at the beach which are other options for relaxation. The chairs by the pool have funky colors which adds to the ambiance. Lifeguards are always present by the pool and by the beach so you always feel safe as well. The bedroom has good working AC, big flat screen TV, a desk with big mirror, a big cabinet with bathrobes, slippers, iron, flashlight, and safety deposit box. There is no AC for the living room but it's ok because the breeze from the beach which enters via the sliding doors and the big screened windows provide adequate ventilation. Comfort and relaxation are very easy to achieve no matter at which part of the resort you decide to spend your time... whether inside the room or outside. If it's the night life that you like, the resort has free scheduled shuttle to and from Alona beach as well. But with a senior citizen and a child, we were very happy to just stay within the resort for quiet relaxation. Our reservation includes buffet dinner and breakfast and there were numerous selections in both instances. The resort staff are also all friendly and courteous. We wish we could have stayed in this wonderful relaxing place longer.
Good Place, Best staff”
Me and my family booked the a room with sea view for 3 days 2 nights. The room we got was a sea side view room and it was awesome. Very clean and well maintained. For the tech savvy audience, the whole resort has a Wide Area Wireless network giving you internet connection everywhere. We stayed around valentines day so the resort was filled with couples. There was a couples buffet on a campfire on seaside that was great. Going there was easy, you can use the resorts pickup in the airport which will cost you some money or if you are in a limited budget, you can also rent a van or tricycle outside the airport. I dont recommend going with a tricycle if you have back problems. :-) The crew was very friendly also, from mangers, receptionist to maintenance guys around the hotel, you will always get that Filipino smile. Overall, the experience with South Palms Resorts was memorable and surely recommend this resort to others. I will definitely going back to this place.
Such a lovely place!”
We loved the place! We love how all the staff were very polite and accommodating. They were always greeting us and were always ready to assist us. There were a lot of choices in the breakfast buffet too which was great because I love breakfast buffets. The regular restaurant food though was expensive and has limited choices but they have free shuttle in the afternoon going to Alona at 3PM to 5PM so you can just go there to eat if you want cheaper choices. They will also assist you in getting a tricycle going outside of the resort since the entrance is not really near the reception roundabout. South Palms beach also has the most beautiful front beach among the resorts in Panglao so if you want to have a chill out of town without any activities, this is the best resort to stay at. It has two pools so if you don't feel like swimming at the beach then you can just use the pool. My husband and I will definitely go back here!
“Best Resort Relaxing Experience Ever””
We stayed at South Palms Resort for only a night but the experience in this hotel/resort/paradise is very remarkable and impressive. The place is so beautiful just like a paradise (day and night), feel the ambiance of which a relaxation is perfect, the beach is nice with a sand just like a powdered milk, with Spa at the beach front, not crowded, all the food are heaven, a little bit pricey but considerable (with a lot of option with their free buffet breakfast), with firedance show at night (saturday) and 100% of the people (i mean the crews/employees) are so nice, they are polite, cheerful and assist all the guest with joy all the time. Also, The Hotel is very generous where full of complimentaries are present even without asking or requesting what you need. The type of service they provide could be a benchmark for a resort with the same class. Me and My family enjoyed the stay a lot specialy my wife. One thing is very sure, this is a place where I will miss and sure to comeback for a longer staycation..
2nd trip in less than 4 months”
We were looking forward to our summer family get together in Bohol and inspite of a scary medical emergency, everyone in South Palms did their utmost best to make it a memorable trip for us. Kudos to nurse Esmie who privided quick assistance & was instrumental in helping calm our nerves; Lucile from reservations who helped prepare the birthday surprise for our 2 celebrators; the wonderful & efficient service crew, notably Jonathan & Relyn who tirelessly did their job at the bar with genuine smiles on their faces. The other helpful crew worth mentioning are Knofler, Diolita, Jaypee, Hermes, Raymond, & chef Danny. Not to be forgotten are Lara, Nikka & Christine, wonderful ladies from the front office who always had warm smiles for the guests & thus made everyone feel so welcome. Keep up the great work guys! South Palms is what it is because of your personal touch.
We found Heaven in Panglao ”
For a Bohol first timer, we don't know what to expect, we're glad that we made the right decision to stay in South Palms Resort. Beautiful Long White Sand Beach, Infinity Pools, Bambike (Bamboo Bike) to tour the whole resort. Free snacks, Sea turtle stuff toy inside the room. Buffet breakfast. With free shuttle going to Alona Beach (15 minutes away) if you like crowded place. This is the best place in Bohol.
Relaxing trip ❤️”
Excellent service, South Palms! From check-in to check-out, we were treated very nicely by everyone. All staff are nice and will always greet you when they see you. We had a very relaxing stay, and enjoyed the amenities specially the hammock and those (billiard table, tennis court etc) in the recreation area. Surprised to see those and the bikes and paddle board are free to use. I didnt like the pool because of the strong chlorine smell but it doesnt matter because I stayed there for the beach, which is not as fine as alona beach sand but definitely cleaner. The view there is also nicer, no boats on sight. the buffet breakfast food is also nice. I love this resort and wish we have this in Manila. I will definitely just stay here when I come back to Bohol ❤️
Highly recommended! Very Pleased!!!”
Just got back from South Palms and as a travel vlogger I have to say this hotel exceeded my expectations. The view from my beach view room was refreshing each morning and I literally walked out my room to the beach. Sunsets were like a dream standing way out in the low tide. And swimming during the day was perfect with the morning high tide. Water was so clear you could see where you were standing (so don't fear sea urchins, you'll never step on them). Staff were helpful and very friendly. Food was delicious and a good mix of local and western dishes (side note: before booking I read a review that said the food wasn't good, don't believe this person. Unless you only eat boring bland foods, you'll love the selections). Wifi was slow, but it really made me focus on the reason why I was here in the first place. So PLEASE put your phones down (except for pictures hehehe), and soak up the sun. Lots to do off the resort and very accessible. I enjoy the bicycle zip lining and walking along the beach at nights to try some of the other restaurants and all were excellent! Live music everywhere! Alona Beach is minutes away for a little night life and souvenir shopping and the hotel has a dressed up local style shuttle to take you there and back for free. Happy 'Joyful Traveller' right here! 😎
