The lift terrify me”
The bed and room is ok. But the nearby places are lots of indian and they make the street dirty. The bathroom is not clear only have one for 8 rooms.
Should be cheaper”
Do yourself a favour and go 2 doors down for €1 more, you get new and outstanding, instead of old and dingy.
My Greek "home away from home"”
I gave 5 stars for value for money, cleanliness and staff because, well, it deserves 5 stars. Location, 4 stars because while it's close to both the Omonoia and Monastiraki metro stations, it wasn't as close I had expected it to be. If you just came from the airport with luggage in tow, it could be a bit hard to walk from the station to the hotel. Other than that, the location is good, as it's near Omonoia, Monastiraki and Kotzia squares. Facilities, 3 stars because I consider Internet connection as part of facilities, and the Wi-Fi isn't the best. There were times when I couldn't even open my emails. Don't get me wrong; it works because I was able to post gazillions on pictures on Instagram. But you need to find the best time to do that.
I dont feel safe at that area, a lot of people seems wandering on the street.
Great little place”
We had a top room with a balcony. The area is so vibrant and bustling. We really enjoyed it and it's filled with cheap lovely Asian restaurants, Kebab shops and food markets. It's really close to city centre, Monstariki fkea market , the Akropolos ... it's walkable to all of Athens and its sightseeing monuments. The only problem was the shared toilet , the key wouldn't slot properly in the card reader to access electricity, it wasn't a setback to our mini stay. A real pleasure will come back again. Thank you Sparta Team and Athens!
Great value for money. Second stay and I will be back for a third!”
Since I stayed here last time 2 years ago they have given the hotel a lick of paint and it is freshened up. This time I was kindly given the bigger than I booked double room facing the back, by the lovely person on reception, who also made my day by allowing me to check in early! The room was spotless, had a lovely balcony and table I could sit out at and it was very private. The room has a fridge which was handy for keeping drinks, coffee and cheese for breakfast - perfect on the balcony! The room also has AIR CON! I had previous spent two nights without it elsewhere and this was the most welcome cold air I have ever experienced in my life :) The hotel is in a very convenient location - Psirri, in my opinion, the best area for cafes, sitting having a beverage or nibble at night, is just 10 minutes walk. Another 10 minutes and you are having ice cream whilst gazing at the Parthenon... Thank you so much to the wonderful receptionists also x
It was definitely value for money, but the location was not so ideal for 3 female travellers - cat calling going to and fro from the hotel was a twice daily occurrence. The heater cut out during out last night there, and the wifi was unreliable throughout the stay. Ultimately, for a no-frills hotel, it serves it purpose.
satisfying quality to price ratio
I stayed at a 4th floor mixed dorm room, for only one night but I couldn't stay. The bathroom in my floor couldn't lock! both the toilet and shower room. They do have a hook on the door but is too reach the other hook. Also they ask all the guest return the key to reception every time when we go out. When I finished my visiting went back to the hotel, the receptionist couldn't find my key, doubt that I remember my room number wrong. They are still being kind to find me my key from some other guest. I checked out right after that.
Good stay, location to be considered”
I stayed two nights, one in a 2 bed dorm and one in a private room. The dorm was truly perfect, it had a sink, a tv, a great balcony! The private had all that but it was facing the street, so other guest speaking loud outside in the night made it impossible to sleep. Some of the staff were really helpful and nice, others not so much. It is nor far from the flee market (literally the center) but it is also located on an area FULL of drug addicts so you will feel in zombie land. I didn't have a problem, but if you are scared of this type of "ghetto" don't come. Would stay again.
I couldn't even bring myself to stay ”
Firstly I can't fault the woman on the desk, she was very kind and helpful, even after me coming back downstairs and saying "there is no way I'm staying in that room". The area was terrible, I was actually afraid walking there by myself as there were people all over the streets leering at me and making comments in Greek (I know the difference between a friendly hello and something less friendly...). The room was no better, one creepy guy in his underwear smoking in bed. The WiFi didn't work and the room was beyond basic. I've stayed in some shocking hostels before and I really don't mind, but this place was next level. I would not recommend it. Again, the staff on the desk was wonderful, she ordered me a taxi to my next accommodation.
Mixed feelings ”
The hotel itself is a great budget hotel. It's actually very close to some great restaurants and only a short walk to Monastiraki. Unfortunately it's in a bit of rough area and you don't feel the safest when you leave with your favorite watch or piece of jewellery on. Once you walk maybe 200 metres you're past it and in amongst the restaurants and trendy bars. I'm not sure if recommend the area for girls travelling alone. Great price though..
A good place for a quick sleepover, not for a long stay”
The hotel has a central location and it is very cheap. So a good place if you need a quick sleep. We had to spend one night in Athens before our flight so this place was very useful for that. But if you are looking for a cozy place to hang around and enjoy yourself, maybe look somewhere else. Quite clean except for the bedbugs.
