It Really is as Beautiful as the Pics!
Me and one of my best friends went to Spider House for a quick vacation. The pictures we saw online looked like we'd be in an awesome tree house right over the beautiful turquoise water and it was just that! The staff was incredible! Michelle in the restaurant was so sweet and wonderful no matter how many mango daiquiris (that I HIGHLY recommend and I'm not even a girl who drinks sweet drinks) we had. They provide towels, toothbrush/toothpaste, and shampoo and conditioner. You get a welcome drink on arrival and their bar/restaurant sits right over the water. From the bar there is a ladder that you can take to descend in to the gorgeous clear shallow waters. The bar/restaurant seems to be a pretty happening spot for other travelers around sunset. Yes, the food and drinks may be slightly expensive, but not any more expensive than the other nearby places. It's worth it. Our room had 3 walls with an open view out to the water so the fresh breeze blows in and you awake to a view of the sun shining on the water. I saw someone's review complain about bugs or something but this makes me laugh - it's on open air room! Of course there might be a few natural things coming in, but nothing crazy. You can still lock your door and even with an open wall you still have privacy. Also it stormed one night (fun!) and none of my things got wet because I had them away from the open area. It is quite a mission to get to Spider House from the airport - but it IS worth it. I'd recommend being able to stay for at least 3 days because of this. Spider House recommends SOUTHWEST TOURS for your airport transfer and they were the best! Yes, the trip was long, but they made it SO easy. Use them. Hands down hassle free. They were lovely. I loved Spider House. I dream of when I might have the chance to visit again.

Nice for eating but not for staying....
I stayed at the Spider House for one night in 2014 and enjoyed it. I decided to stay again last week but sadly the experience was very different. At check-in I was told the room I had booked (Bamboo Queen with Sea View) was not available and the hotel was upgrading me. The "upgraded" room had green mold on the ceiling and a very putrid smelling toilet. I complained and was given a different room, which was soaked from a rainstorm the previous night (note that all rooms at the Spider House are open-fronted with no glass windows) but at least the toilet smell was not overpowering. That night it again rained and the room was again soaked, so I checked-out (despite having prepaid the second night) and the hotel promised a refund. I strongly recommend the Spider House as a great place to visit during the day and have a meal while enjoying the amazing view over Diniwid Beach and the White Beach in the near-distance, but except for more adventurous travelers who don't mind forgoing creature-comforts such as hot showers (the Spider House apparently relies on solar-powered hot water, meaning there's no hot water on overcast days, I cannot recommend it for an overnight stay in its present somewhat dilapidated condition. Given rising sea levels, annually worsening typhoon frequencies around the Philippines, and the hotel's very exposed location overhanging the sea, the hotel might even be considered uninhabitable for overnight stays during the typhoon season unless the owners invest in a more substantial concrete and steel structure (presently much of the hotel is constructed of thin bamboo).

Very unique, beautiful views
Beautiful view from balcony and dinning area, great location, nothing else like it
This place is a travellers paradise, the online pictures speak for themselves. love the views, the dinning area is literally right on the waters edge. The pool table was also a nice touch to enjoy with friends. As long as your not looking for anything fancy the rooms were nice, clean, and safe. I would highly recommend booking well in advance for best room selection.
