    More about Sri Sentosa Chalet

    More about Sri Sentosa Chalet

Sri Sentosa Chalet is located at the southern end of Tioman Island with the peak of Sri Nenek Mukut standing boldly in the background of this little fishing village. This is certainly a way to get back to nature. With cascading waterfalls, flora, fauna, coconut and palm trees swaying at the pebble front beach. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and rejuvenate at this great location, one of the most beautiful islands in the region of Malaysia.

Asah Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Tioman is about half an hour trek from Mukut village. There, guests can swim in the cool refreshing pool at the base of the falls.

There are a few deserted beaches in Mukut village, complete with regional wildlife. Adventurous guests can go rock climbing at Twin Peaks, accompanied by a guide which can be arranged by the hotel. Sri Sentosa Chalet is a great base from which to experience everything this beautiful village has to offer.

    Wonderful weekend hideout”

I loved Sri Sentosa Chalet and Kampung Mukut. This little village is not very easily accessible, that made this even more an interesting. I called Aiysha Aunty and she arranged for a Private speedboat for my husband and me at RM100. The little village has a lot of fresh water sources, waterfalls and little streams and rivers all over. Besides this, the village has the iconic Twin peak. The beaches are soothing with clear waters which makes the corals visible from the chalets. Aunty cooks good food - my husband loved the crab, the squids and the fishes she made. The little village has a ton of flora and fauna - loved the botanical exploration at the village. Rooms are really basic with necessary amenities and its not very expensive. A good dose of life at villages. Will surely recommend to all - primarily if you are not looking for luxury. I will be there again very soon.. :)

    A very good place ”

We started our journey from Singapore. It took a very long time (coach + ferry + sea taxi) but worthwhile to visit Kampung Mukut. Sri Sentosa chalet is simple but it is clean and comfortable enough for those who like a quiet place and nature. Mosquitoes and other bugs are there but they are everywhere in nature. A chalet has a bathroom + shower. The owners are very nice people. The lady was so considerate and kind. My son cried actually when he had to go back home. She speaks good English and helps visitors arrange activities. She and other cooks cook simple meals for guests . A nice emerald blue beach is 7 min away. Almost private. The waterfall is 30-40 min away. Dragon Horns is 5 min away (4-hours for up and down for an athletic person). Not touristy. Private. Kampung-like. Simple but good.

    Wonderful stay”

Sri Sentosa is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Tioman island. I would definitely recommend it. The owners are very very friendly, warm and helpful, dinner at the restaurant is good and cheap and the chalets are just fine. The village of Mukut is very small, but there are quite some activities besides enjoying the beach. Sri Sentosa provides snorkeling sets, boat trips and canoes. You can also walk to the nearby waterfall and you can climb the iconic twinpeak. And If you are visiting in the mango season like we did, you can enjoy world's greatest mangos all day. All in all, it was a lovely and peaceful stay. Thank you Sri Sentosa!

Aisyah and Zamros - best hosts ever! Hidden gem! :)”

We really loved staying at the accomodation in Mukut. It is all very clean and the rooms are big. The hosts (auntie Aisyah and uncle Zamros) were the best hosts we ever met and they really care so much about you feeling comfortable and give their very best to make your stay unique at Mukut. If you need anything you can simply talk to them and they will arrange all the things you need. For all the people out there who want to get to Sri Sentosa Chalet, please be aware of the following things: - Starting with September 2019 you can finally get directly to Mukut with Cataferry [until now you always needed to get to Genting first and then get a rather expensive sea taxi] (4 people minimum @ 60 RM p. person OR ~240 RM privat boat to get to Mukut) - In case you do not use the Cataferry please make sure to get in contact with the accomodation in advance before you arrive, so they can manage good / cheap ways to get there - Not so much entertainment there, just nature you'll love, really!

    Awesome place and lovely people”

Charming, secluded family owned hostel. We stayed a Sri Sentosa 3 nights and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. The rooms are clean and spatious and come at a good price. The food is simple and fine. The people in Mukut village are all extremely kind and caring. The location is idyllic, just on the foot of Tioman's famous twin peaks (dragon's horns) that you can hike, close to the beautyful Asah waterfalls and right on the Mukut beach, that gives you access to quality snorkeling. But most of all, Aisyah, her relatives and the rest of the Sri Sentosa staff will make sure you fully enjoy your stay, always present and helping, delivering advices and insights about the Island and helping you to organize your trips to the nearby destinations. If you're looking for a peaceful, simple and disconnected hostel, search no more because you've found your place to stay.

    Amazing stay, felt like home”

What I appreciated the most, as a solo traveller, at Sri Sentosa was a warm welcome from the owners: auntie Aisyah, Zamros and their son Zhafran, who made me feel like a part of a family. Aisyah was very helpful in organizing my arrival by ferry and sea taxi and during my stay the whole family was making sure I had everything I needed and had a good time. I also felt welcomed in the Mukut village. It was a nice experience to see how the villagers organized different activities to bring the community together. Mukut is not a very touristy place, it’s rather quiet and peaceful, but besides beaches, there’s a waterfall in a walking distance, twin peaks to climb (personally haven’t tried), possibility of snorkelling, kayaking and fishing (Aisyah rents snorkelling masks and kayaks). The chalet was simple but very clean and overall very comfortable. The food is fresh and yummy. The stay in Sri Sentosa was truly a highlight of my trip to SEA. Thank you again for hosting me! :)

A pleasent retreat at sri sentosa”

It has been a good stay in sri sentosa chalet. Auntie aisyah and uncle zamros and family are superhosts. They even upgraded our room for free (booked for double room, was upgraded to triple room). Their workers too are friendly and helpful, get baggage pick up and drop off from the jetty to/from room. The room has basic facilities, aircond is good, beds are comfortable, shower also nice, all the things that u need. Can even ask the host if u need something they are very helpfull and generous too. Our evening beach walk always got free kueh from uncle. Beach is just infront of the chalet,u just need to walk a bit for a sandy beach. The stream from waterfall is also near to the beach and u will love this as it's water is clear, cool and unsalty (Suitable for those who doesnt like the salty and sticky feel of the sea water). If u have enough time and energy, try some adventure while taking a glare to the nature, by walking (up and down the small hills) to get to Asah Waterfall (30 minutes walking and climbing). Water is so cool and clear, even pokok durian are at the river bank. The food nearby the chalet is nice and affordable. Taste roti canai in the morning at warung mak jemah near jetty. Taste bbq set at night at sri sentosa cafe, fresh and tasty. Conclusion, if you are searching a place to relax and chill, this is definitely the place. Away from the island town and hectic tourist attraction. Get you pocket full coz no atm here. Feel welcomed, like home and ambience of a village life. My 1 year-old++ son also enjoyed the stay. Suitable for a family vacation.

    Beautiful spot, lovely family”

We had a wonderful stay at Sri Sentosa, and were looked after very well by Aisyah and her family. 2 nights in a lovely fishing village on Tioman out of the main touristy resorts. When you get off the ferry at Genting, you have to get a sea taxi to Mukut village, we paid 80RM altogether but I think usually it's about 60-70RM per person, Aisyah or her husband can help you arrange one, or you can ask one of locals on arrival. Aisyah has lovely sea view chalets with balconys, she is very flexible with cooking and we had lovely fresh fish and veg dishes. In Mukut you can walk to the waterfall and swim which is beautiful, there are pretty little secluded beaches, fantastic snorkelling, and wonderful views of the twin peaks. Perfect stay all round and I think what really made it for us is how kind and helpful Aisyah is

    Unique experience”

It is very challenging to describe the beauty of Mukut in the Southern part of Tioman Island. This fisherman village is a jewel, full of colours and with a very positive atmosphere. The locals are genuinely friendly. Spending a few nights at Sri Sentosa Chalet has been a unique experience and the owners really looked after me. I hope to repeat this experience in the next future.

    Worth the money”

we stayed here for 2 nights. We were SURPRISED to be well greeted as we were concerned about the bad review we read before. Welcome drinks were served and the staffs were friendly. We had to go to Kampung Mukut by water taxi from Genting. Travelling time was about 15 mins to Mukut. We were greeted by amazing blue clear water. We could also see the corals around the jetty. There are a lot of activities around Mukut as compared to others' village. Hiking, Asah Waterfall and etc. The villagers are super friendly. They like to tell stories about Tioman. Food is affordable. The room is very comfortable, clean and worth the money. We didn't have to pay anything extra. I have been to tioman several times but I had different experience at Kampung Mukut. The place is underrated! Best budget trip I've ever had!

    Relaxing, authentic cultural experience”

If you are the type of traveller who wants to immerse yourself in a local culture and learn about different ways of life then Sri Sentosa in Mukut is a perfect place to spend some time. I recently stayed there with my wife and 12 year old daughter for 3 days. It was the highlight of our 12 day trip to Singapore and Malaysia. Aisyah and Zamros, the owners, looked after us incredibly well. We feel privileged to have been a part of their life and that of the the village for the time. They helped us better understand the culture and daily lives of the people that live in Mukut. Aisyah also helped us to find the local places to eat breakfast and lunch. It was great to sit down like locals and be a part of their daily life. She cooked us the fresh food of the day for dinner. We ate great food. The rooms are in a wonderful setting over looking the water. They are basic but clean and roomy and only a few metres from the beach. This is a very special place if you want this type of experience and its not too hard to get to, just a 15 minute speed boat ride from Genting. I recommend Sri Sentosa and Mukut as a great place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing, authentic cultural experience.

    Excellent service Sri Sentosa Chalet”

The chalet is located in Kg Mukut, at the southern tip of Tioman Island. It is a beautiful place especially to those who appreciate nature. The staff especially Zhafri, the owner's son are very helpful, giving a personal touch on their service to the guest. Food are excellent, local cuisine with seafood fresh from the sea. Suitable for family with young children. Plenty of activity for everybody, swimming, snorkeling, diving, climbing dragon horn peak, trekking, fishing you name it. To get to the resort, need to take ferry from Mersing or Tg Gemok Jetty, stop at Kg Genting and then take water taxi to the chalet. Hope in future, state government will instruct Ferry company to stop at Kg Mukut, so no need to take water taxi from Kg Genting. Water taxi fare is quite expensive because it is operated individually, not by the chalet owner. Definitely will come back again, love it so much. Thank you Zhafri, Zam and Ita for taking good care of me and my family.

authentic village life, great snorkeling, very warm and caring host”

We stayed at Sri Sentosa for a week sith our 3 kids. And what a week it was! We really enjoyed our stay there and were very happy with the decision to stay in Mukut. It is a village harder to get to because there is no direct boat connection btw Mukut and the mainland. We had to use sea taxi to get there from a bigger jetty. But the extra effort was worth it. Mukut is a real village, not just a bunch of resorts clamped together. There is a school, a mosk, some shops and eateries there ...signs of real life:). Local people eat at the same cafes as tourists. Fishermen hassel with their gear and go fishing. People were really frindly. Ouf host Aishya, her family and staff took such a good care of us. The main Tioman attractions, the twin peaks and the waterfall are in the walking distance. Nice corals. A lovely, peaceful and friendly place. I am very grateful.

Great peaceful retreat within a friendly family village ”

To express the enjoyment of staying at Sri Sentosa in just a few words may not be enough, but simply staying with Aunty Aisah and her family really makes this a wonderful experience. The whole family are warm and welcoming, and provides not only tips of what to check-out at Tioman, but gives best advice on how and when to get there, especially on the sea taxi arrangement upon arrival (cost wise, it's a really fair deal, and saves you the worries on missing the boat). Interacting with them feels like chatting with old friends and if you wish to know how a village stay is like, Kg Mukut is one of the place to stay at. The house have basically everything needed, and with the sea just outside the door, most time whole be spent enjoying the sound of the sea, the jungle trek to the waterfall, and snorkeling to the beautiful corals just a few meters off the shore. Simple food, simple amenities, simple needs = simply living the moment. Thank you Aunty Aisah and Uncle Zamros

A relaxing and serene place perfect for a quiet getaway.”

Sri Sentosa Chalet allows you to experience the authentic "kampung" life while living comfortably in a basic room with amenities like air conditioning, electrical sockets and hot water. As this part of the island is not as accessible, it is a calm place with few tourists and this appealed greatly to us. Furthermore, there is a somewhat-hidden private beach just 10 minutes away. If you're looking to ascend the dragon horn or visit the waterfall, this accommodation would be a great option too. You can also request for a barbecued seafood dinner which is really fresh, delicious and cheap! The hosts Aisyah and Zamros are extremely nice and kind people who are willing to help you in any way they can. Lastly, remember to call beforehand to ask the hosts to book a sea taxi for you that will pick you up at Genting. It's way cheaper than if you flag one down on the spot.

    Relaxing and wonderful”

Sri Sentosa is placed next to the beach in the calm fisher village Mutuk. We loved the authentic and relaxed life where you get in contact with some locals especially the very friendly owner who were always helpful. She told us a lot about the life in Tioman and the plants in the nature around the Chalets. The food was great as well! The Chalets are basic but clean and comfortable. The Air Con worked well. Mutuk is a beautiful place if you like trekking with magic view-points, cold waterfalls, snorkeling, good conversation and quietness. Dont forget that you have to organise you transfer from Genting to Mutuk and that the ferry from Mersing depends on the tide ;) Thank you so much!

AWESOME STAY. Must go if you are looking for a retreat away from the busy world”

Our stay here was short but very sweet and warm. Sri Sentosa is located south of Tioman far away from the popular touristy spots but will definitely provide you a great time as the place is quiet and very relaxing. Many secret spots for u to explore and snorkel. Big beautiful corals just by the shores and marine life coming really close to the beach will amaze u. Aunty Aisyah and her family were very welcoming and exceptionally warm. They took really good care of us during our stay and only provide the best quality food for us. They even arranged our island hopping and open water fishing where we caught 19 fishes for our dinner! Absolutely amazing people. They could arrange water taxi for you from the jetty at a cheaper price and if you are looking for liquor, be sure to get it at the DFS in Genting terminal before heading there. Data can be bought there at 15rm for 2Day of data. Don't let the price of the water taxi stop u from going there. It is definitely worth your time and money!

    We recommend Sri Sentosa Charlet!”

Sri Sentosa Charlet has been a great place for my parents and me. The host was very kind and friendly, and the host family was very keen to make our holiday enjoyable and relaxing. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The place was very quiet and not tainted by tourists. We very much enjoyed its pristine surroundings, and we saw many different sea creatures while snorkeling. The ferry does not reach Mukut, but we enjoyed the exquisite scenery of the island on the way by a sea taxi. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to release your stress and empty all your worries, we strongly recommend this place!
