“New Years Eve with toddler”
We booked a Superior Double Room with breakfast buffet. We specifically chose this hotel because we wanted an overlooking view for the New Year’s fireworks, so our 2-year-old baby would not be scared by the loud noise. During booking (via Agoda), we requested a room with a clear view, preferably on a higher floor with no building blocking the view. Since it was New Year’s Eve, we expected long queues at check-in. We waited almost 45 minutes in line. While checking in, I reminded the front desk attendant (female, wearing a black coat, no name tag) about our request. She repeatedly said yes, which made us believe our request had been accommodated. I found out that her name is *** upon checking her name on the 2k security deposit slip. However, when we reached Room ***, the room was facing the large I’m Hotel building, completely blocking the view. This was disappointing because the main purpose of our booking was for our baby’s comfort during the fireworks. To be fair, the room itself was very nice: • Strong Wi-Fi • Very comfortable queen-size bed • With mini fridge • Clean and well-maintained We called the front desk to request a room transfer, but we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and no higher-floor rooms were available. We understood that the hotel was very busy, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We tried checking the 35th floor rooftop, but the New Year’s countdown event tickets (₱400, first come first served) were already sold out. Later that evening, we spoke with*** at the front desk. He was very accommodating and empathetic. He took time to double-check if any rooms or possible upgrades were available. He clearly explained that the hotel was indeed fully booked, especially on the upper floors, and that rooftop access was limited due to capacity restrictions. As a gesture of goodwill, he offered us a complimentary late checkout at 3:00 PM instead of 12:00 PM, and sincerely apologized. We truly appreciated his effort and professionalism. Unfortunately, we were also not allowed to briefly view the fireworks from the glass window near the pool area due to capacity limits. We ended up watching the fireworks outside near Makati Avenue / Poblacion. It was noisy, but thankfully our baby slept soundly through the night. Additional notes: • Elevator waiting time was very long due to the high number of guests • Water dispensers are available on every floor • Guests may reheat food using the microwave at BayLeaf Restaurant (2nd floor) Breakfast Buffet • Served from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM • Food selections were very tasty • Staff were friendly and quick to refill dishes • Cozy and pleasant ambiance at BayLeaf Restaurant Bar & Lounge Overall Experience Despite the issue with the room view, our stay was still worth it, especially for families with young children. The service recovery provided by *** made a big difference. We would consider staying again, hopefully with better room placement in the future.
