Servicable room in an excellent location”
The Stanford Hillview hotel really does live up to its name- situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, it sits at the top of a steep hill near the Observatory. For young people in reasonable health, this isn't an issue, but I would not recommend this hotel to your grandmother. The rooms were clean and well kept, but the hotel is older- those expecting modern design may be disappointed. However, the infrastructure in the rooms was mostly up to date- modern flat screen televisions, a small bar fridge, and available Wi-Fi. (Booking through Agoda, Wi-fi was free during my stay). The lighting system in the room was odd, requiring you to place your room key in a slot near the door to activate electricity, with the switches for most lights in the room on a console near the bed. Strange, but not detrimental to the experience. Overall, the room was comfortable but not large. It's also important to note that the bed was comfortable but seemed to be an Eastern (read: hard) mattress. If you prefer a soft pillowy mattress, you will be disappointed. The best aspect of this hotel is it's location: in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. The Hillview sits right on Knutsford Terrace, so a wide variety of dining options are available to guests. (Check OpenRice before going to eat at the Terrace, however; most are pricey but the quality varies widely.) The hotel is a ten minute stroll from the TST MTR station, from which much of Hong Kong is easily accessible. You're also within walking distance of the Star Ferry. Overall, I would stay again, but would caution those expecting a luxury experience. The Hillview is much more sensible than that- a servicable, convenient place to stay.
All That We Were Looking For”
We were a little concerned that this location might be hard to get to, having stayed in Hong Kong many times without ever having ventured into this area, but it turned out to be just up a small slope from Kimberley Road and right on Knutsford Terrace, an area with an amazing variety of restaurants. And of course, Kowloon Park, the Hong Kong science and history museums, and all of Tsim Sha Tsui are right there, too. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable though without any terribly interesting view. I'm not sure why were given twin beds but perhaps I didn't pay enough attention when booking so we didn't complain.Wi-fi was available for free (with a login provided by the desk), along with the usual complimentary water, fruit, and chocolates. All in all a happy discovery that we got at a good price (HKD1250) by booking early.
Superb surrounding area”
You'd stay in hotel than the hostel. We were happy to be in the Stanford Hillview Hotel. The hotel located at the dead end of Observatory Road which the front entrance was on the slope. But we found the easy access from the garage. The location is very easy to get around from MTR and shopping malls surrounding area. Many restaurants and bars right by the back entrance from the garage and shopping malls beside them. Starbucks within 200 meters. Get off the MTR at Jordan station, take exit D and heading left toward Nathan Blvd. Walk about 600 meter then turn left at Kimberley Rd. Walk about 100 meters and take the escalator at the end of the mall by the ice cream shop. Take a short cut toward alley where you will pass through the nice restaurants and bars. Great place to hang out. All restaurant surrounding area are affordable and reasonable price. We lived on the third floors next to the elevator. No noise issue and the view from the back facing another building in decent distance. Great view from the restaurant and bars though. The room is quite reasonable, not too big and too small though. two full beds and the bathroom is great and very nice. Make sure you bring your own country outlet adaptor though since hotel provide only one adaptor. We love this place since we have 9 years old girl with us. Great room for family of 3 or 4.
Location, location, location”
The Stanford Hillview Hotel is unique in my Hong Kong hotel experience. It boasts a superb location from many perspectives: •easy access to the best of Kowloon shopping •located at the head of a street with more than a dozen fine restaurants of varied cuisines •excellent cost/benefit ratio •suprising extras like free shuttle to airport express station •fast friendly service throughout, but especially at the front desk It has become my regular Hong Kong residence
Maria from Philippines”
The hotel in general is clean and modern. My parents, together with my niece, booked for two (2) OAK rooms (4 days, 3 nights). Overall, both rooms are nice, spacious and has good lightings. Both bathrooms are also nice, and size is just enough. Location-wise, the Stanford Hillview Hotel is near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station (Tsuen Wan Line), Kowloon Station (Airport Express Line) and Kowloon Station (Tung Chung Line). The "breakfast buffet" has a variety of food to choice from such as bacon, ham, sausage (pork / chicken), congee, egg (scrambled or boiled), rice, various breads, fruits, salads and sauces, etc., and the price is reasonable enough (my opinion) at HKD 100.00 per person. The staff in the front desk are also very helpful, considering we have dropped-by the front desk several times during our entire stay just to inquire on directions, taking taxis, etc. (hehehe)
Stanford Hillview Hotel - Nice”
We enjoyed our stay at the Stanford Hillview Hotel. It made our marvelous stay in Hong Kong very pleasant. The room was clean and well designed for a week-long stay. I needed to ask for a smaller, more comfortable pillow, but they were quick to bring it. The floor plan for the room was very efficient with plenty of drawers and counter space and we liked having a refrigerator and safe. It was relatively convenient to the subway and the front desk team was very accommodating to arrange one-way shuttle service to Kowloon station. Kudos to the staff who were kind and helpful. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant so I rated it as a 3 since there wasn't an N/A (not applicable) option.
Great”
It's my first time visiting Hong Kong with my sister after visiting relations in China. As this hotel has been recently renovated, the Pine Room which we stayed for 5 days 4 nights were big, clean & modern. The location were close to lots of eating places, restaurants & popular bars. We feel safe walking back to the hotel most nights after shopping or sightseeing. The staffs are friendly, helpful and we even have free bus shuttle taking us to t off Knutsford Tce Bars and restaurants. This stay took me to yet another location of Tsim Sha Tsui and only a 15 minute walk will get you to Star Ferry Pier and all the food and shopping centres along the way.
Great hotel but tough-to-reach location”
Overall, in terms of location, it's located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, superb location of hongkong shopping paradise. Many convenience store like 7-eleven and Wellcome located nearby. There are also plenty of good restaurants if u choose to have local breakfast. When i say tough, it's actually already stated in the name of the hotel itself - "Hillview" - the steepest hill i've ever been. Even though there are steps to help pedestrian, it's tough when u just arrive - especially when u're not taking taxi because u hv to lift ur luggage way up to the hill. I was helped by a friendly staff from the hotel concierge staff. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. I'm very satisfied with the service.
Amazing big room!”
As most may know hotels in Hong Kong have really small rooms. Stanford Hillview has caught me by surprise. Amenities provided is also good and cell phone with data card loaded is provided, allowing hotel guests to bring in on the go for checking information on food, shopping etc. Hotel is located in a prominent location where food and shopping center can be accessed easily. Hotel also provide free shuttle bus service to Kowloon Station where guests can transit to the airport express to the airport. This has provided much convenience of lugging our luggages taking public transport. Guess the only downside of staying here is hotel is located on a steep slope, thus pushing the luggages up the slope can be challenging!
The breakfast had bacon!”
The hotel is located in a good part of the city near the major shopping areas. It's just off Nathan Road and near Tsim Sha Tsui subway. I was able to get to all the places I wanted to visit very easily from there. As well as near the A21 bus to get to and from the airport. The hotel was absolutely fine for my needs and being so close to the subways I was often able to pop back during the day for showers and changes of clothes and heading back out again. My favourite part was definitely the breakfast, I had so much bacon every morning and cheese! I also tried the food on my first evening and it was delightful. The cocktails I wasn't so hot for, however the barman seemed very conscientious whilst preparing them. All in all I had a great time and would consider this hotel again if I were to return to Hong Kong. All in all
Affordable hotel with good location”
Stanford Hillview Hotel is located within walking distance to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and star ferry pier at Victoria Harbour. Room is quite comfy and staff is very helpful, too. Nearby Kimberley Road has quite a few nice and affordable restaurants to dine in. Great value for money and I will be happy to return to this hotel when visiting HK next time.
Stanford Hillview Hotel”
I really loved this hotel. Been staying at this ever since this trip. The location is nearby Tsim Sha Tsui shopping area. When I'm hungry, I can easily find fine dining along Knustford Terrace which is conveniently located below the hotel premises. The food is good and the price quite reasonable too. If I fancy some local coffee shop food like fishball or wanton noodle, I can find plenty along Tsim Sha Tsui area too. The rooms are clean and spacious. Will recommend this hotel to friends and relatives who are visiting HK.
Great hotel in great location”
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly at Stanford Hillview hotel. We had a very pleasant stay, a place we looked forward too after a long day out shopping and eating around hong kong. We also enjoyed the complimentary free wifi provided which helped us keep in touch with our loved ones back home.
Excellent location and great service”
I had a wonderful time staying at the Stanford Hillview Hotel in Kowloon. It was close to transport, restaurants and shopping. The buffet breakfast each morning until 10:00 gave us the chance to sleep late and still enjoy a great breakfast. The rooms were very clean and quite spacious. Service was great and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I would certainly recommend The Stanford Hillview Hotel.
clean hotel with good-sized rooms”
we stayed at the stanford hillview hotel for four nights during our trip to hong kong. the hotel is located in tst, which is ideal for shopping, museums, and taking the ferry. however, it is on a side street up a small hill, so there is a bit of a trek involved in getting to the subway station. the a21 bus to the airport is only about a 6 minute walk away, though, so this was very convenient. the hotel itself is clean, refurbished in a modern style, and very comfortable. the pillows are huge and the bed is adequate. we had free wifi in our room. we did not eat at the restaurant because it is expensive and there are so many other dining options in hong kong. i will definitely stay here again the next time i am in hong kong.
Great value for its location”
Great location! Within walking distance from Tsim Sha Tsui, 10 minutes walk to the nearest MTR entrance, many eateries nearby, and near a 24-hour supermarket. Not to worry about unpleasant service from hotel staff, because Stanford's staff are friendly. The hotel itself was undergoing renovation when we stayed there, but it was no issue for us as the works were only carried out during the day when we were out anyway. The room was quite big for Hong Kong standard with new interior. The only downside is that the hotel is located at a hilly area with very steep slope, may be quite tiring for elderly or those carrying young children.
We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. We were upgraded to a premium room on the 13th flr.”
Pros: 1. Friendly and accomodating front desk officers. 2. The Lady chambermaid on the 13th flr. was very accomodating. 3. very accessible to nathan road (commercial areas) and to tsim sha tsui station. 4. room was big enough for a couple with 1 small child. clean room, fast wifi, nice bathroom, strong water pressure. 5. very accessible to wellcome supermarket where you can buy stuffs you'll might need for your entire stay in the hotel. e.g. mineral water, etc. 6. Upgraded to premium room. Cons: 1. Not much except for the housekeeping operator who kept on impolitely dropping our calls just maybe because he doesn't understand english.
Great Location, Comfortable Room, Friendly Staff”
I was allocated a room on 13/F, the room is very new and clean, room size is quite decent. Excellent location to Tsim Sha Tsui, the shopping area of Hong Kong. There are also bars and restaurants right next to the hotel. Staff are friendly.
Stanford Hillview Hotel - April 2010”
We stayed in the Stanford Hillview Hotel for 3 night in April 2010. We found the hotel very comfortable. The location is very near to Nathan Road, on a small hill, but the way through Miramar center and Knutsford Terrace make the access easy and nice. The room and bathroom are clean and comfortable and with good size. The staff gave us very good information and was very kind. There are a lot of local restaurants in the neighborhood and international ones on the Knutsford terrace and the access to Hong Kong transports and attraction is near and easy.
Average hotel but great location”
my bf and i have stayed in stanford hillview hotel for a night. hotel is not bad, staff are very nice and friendly. and it is very closed to knutsford terence, a good drinking place. room is tidy, really hill view, but not building opposite to your room. they served us with some fresh fruit as we have been upgraded to a deluxe room.
