I stayed in around 6 hostels in Seoul and this was the best by far clean warm floor fast wifi 2 minute walk from the metro station I made many friends thank you

Close to the subway station, cheap, bunk beds. Because there are so many people living there, the hygiene must be taken care of by ourselves. I will also choose this hotel when I travel to Seoul next time. It gives people with insufficient budget a place to rest.

The location of this hostel is amazing! Bed‘s were clean and it‘s definitely worth staying here if you are on a budget. The owner/receptionist was very kind to me and helped me with tours/Buses - overall good experience!!!

Bad Experience”
Stay just for a night and my travel adapter, charger adapter and even cables was lost in the hostel. Hence, overall bad experience. It does provides basic necessities needs of a hostel stay.

An honest review”
If you are looking for a very affordable place to stay, I would recommend this one. The place does not have an attached bathroom, thus you have to share amongst other travelers. No freebie at all. The place is located in a little sketchy place altho there are other hostels along this road. Staff can be easily contacted

The pictures of the room I reserved was...different”
from the real one I was alloted which is the main reason why I gave low rate. With that cheap price, I expected at least clean bed sheets which was not. And I got worried of my stuff to be stolen due to the main gate was open all the time and there was no locker and also no door key.

Stains all over the sheets. Staff barely at reception. There’s a WhatsApp number for out of hours but they left me on read. No breakfast, shower is in the toilet. Cheap but not cheerful.

Perhaps it was good pre pandemic, but at present it is not a travellers hostel. It smells and feels very unclean and doesn't have a safe feeling, the front door is open during the day and the dorm doors aren't locked (as I was checking in a man from the streets entered and wandered around thinking it was a "motel"). I checked in and left 30 minutes later, not even hoping for a refund, but not willing to risk staying there.

Down a dodgy ally, my first impression walking in was that it was dark and messy. There was no one to greet me even though it was only about 6pm. The room was cramped and the bedding looked stained and dirty. The bathrooms were no better and there was hair everywhere. Kitchen smelt dirty and there was no way I was going to prepare food in there. I’ve stayed in hostels all over south east Asia, the US and Europe and this was by far the worst. Would have rather paid twice that much and stayed outside in the park in the middle of winter.

So many crazy foreigners”
Too many big 🪳 🪳 🪳 cockroaches and spiders there . Also many kind of worms people who stay there are crazy in long-term .. Be careful for your belongings when you stay

i usually go to seoul a few times each year and have stayed in the same place everytime but this time i wanted to try somewhere new (and because that place is charging more and i dont think it's worth it) so i chose star hostel - turned out to be a great experience and i think this place will probably be my number one choice from now on! staff: really nice (he can even speak fluent mandarin chinese and english!), willing to make conversation with the people staying there and asks for comments and suggestions of our stay room: is just able to fit my HUGE luggage but i think it's okay. since im travelling solo, i dont need a huge room. walls are a bit thin - i guess my neighbours can hear what im playing on my phone :p location: very convenient - 1 min walk from subway station, less than 10 min walk from dongdaemun shopping area (no need to worry about catching the last train! you can basically walk back to the hostel) anyhow with what im paying, i think star hostel is a great choice

Superb central location”
This hostel is only 100m away from the Exit of Jongno5ga Stn (Line 1, same as Seoul Stn). It is walkable to Dongdaemun (10 mins) and Gwangjang Market (5 mins) from the Hostel. Good for those who need to do some fashion, duty free shopping and "streetfood-ing". I totally recommend you to purchase a T-Money or a Cashbee transportation card for your transport needs. Fare is cheaper with a card instead of cash. It works nationwide, even on buses in small cities. The hostel itself has a simple kitchen (no stove, so eat before you return. Plenty of Korean restaurants and convenience stores dotting around the corners) and a common area where you could eat your food and watch TV. The common bathrooms arent exactly the cleanest, but acceptable for a couple of nights. You might need your pair of slippers too. Also I would recommend to bring some mosquito repellent, as I was attacked by mosquitoes at night. One final tip is DO NOT mix this up with Star Hostel Suites a few blocks away.This place has a BLACK entrance, the other has a white one.
