Good place for good money”

If you want a cheap stay at a good price i recommend Stay Malate. Pros -It is a safe place to stay -Good accommodation -Commodities are available -You don't have to go outside since food is served in house. -Variety of menu is good. Food is good too. Cons -If you choose a fan room better buy a mosquito net or insect repellant. -If you have a noisy room mate, you have to deal with it. -It is noisy at night since there is a bar above. If you like to go party, you can. My overall stay was good. I didn't have any problems at all and i made a lot of friends too.

Great Location and great Roof Top Bar”

I m not the type that sleep in shared bathroom hostels, but this time, the price was one of the best on Agoda, so I went for it we took a private room for 2, so not shared room, but only shared bathroom. The room was ok, nothing fancy, but good ac and good enough bed and the shared bathroom was clean, and good hot water. We met some other travelers, and at night, the Roof Top Bar, is really great, with some music and low prices for beer, when compared to the other bars in the area And another thing, even if there s music on the Rooftop, you still cannot hear the music from the room, so I found nothing to complain about Will return when in Manila

Right in the heart of Malate/Manila. Very nice terrace. The air in the dorm rooms is horrible unless u sleep directly at the window. This is why some people prefer to just sleep at the terrace i guess.

Good place; go without hesitation”

I enjoyed my stay here. Excellent WiFi. Their open-air deck on the top floor gave a good view of Malate and was quite comfortable. The place has a sense of calm. Great Korean restaurants are quite nearby. My only complaint is the single hot water shower: it can switch from freezing to scorching and back in the blink of an eye -- so be prepared to hop in and out of the shower. Otherwise, great value for money.

Where backpackers should stay”

Location, comforting, information

Everything went smooth, from checking in to informations given by the staff regarding where to travel, prices, shopping etc. I also liked the possibility to rent a bicycle to explore Manila that way. The ambience at the terrace with it's choice of music was excellent, as well as the very affordable foods/drinks. For me a very good place to meet other travellers, and you get the chance to chat with the owner and manager too. A place where you feel at ease and at home! One can also take their service to do Visa extensions, a big plus in my opinion.

Good spot for night or two”

Overall, the spot was pretty good! Staff was wonderful and worked with us despite arriving 10+ hours later than anticipated due to flight delays. WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms, but works on the rooftop (covered from the heat!) Not every shower has a water heater, so some showers are cold and some are warm. The room itself (private double) is very small; the bed takes up about 90% of the room, making it a little crammed (but doable) for 2 people. Probably perfect for 1. We haven’t stayed anywhere else in Manila, but as long as you’re ok with the WiFi situation, room size and showers, we’d recommend it!

The place is good but...”

perfect location, courteous staff, reasonably clean

The place is very strategic in terms of location. Numerous Asian-themed restaurants, coffee shops, & Robinson's Manila is just walking distance. Less than kilometer away from the US Embassy, 1.7 km from Rizal Park. Its everything you expect in a transient accommodation for passing backpackers, mostly Caucasians. We used WGH as family staging ground during Pope Francis' last Holy Mass in Manila 2015. Early check-in is allowed & free, only if there's available room. Upon entering the building, guard directed us to a dilapidated elevator, WGH Reception is @4th floor. Big backpacks are queued all around the reception, maybe owned by tenants in the single rooms. Staff is very friendly but...WGH personnel should at least wear decent/simple t-shirt uniforms just for the customers to know that they officially belong to WGH. Our Suite room is enough for us 4, with bathroom. It has a very good split-type A/C, big LCD TV, and a small table & monoblock chair. Freebies: towel, blanket, bed sheet, toilet paper, they forget or will not give unless you request. Our room is reasonably clean, but not "hotel clean". Hallways are not well-lit. Smaller rooms share a common bathroom, so expect to meet a half-naked backpacker looking for a shower room. If you don't mind second-hand smoke, their rooftop lounge is accessible to all WGH tenants. but really, there should at least be a non-smoking area.

For the price, they dont provide toiletries. Room is very small you cant roam around well”

But overall our stay is comfortable. The bed and sheets smells good and fresh. Common CR is very neat and orderly. We stayed at the 4th floor AC room. Our room is very small for two like we cant dress or change clothes together. One has to go out first so that one can finish dressing up. No free shampoo/conditioner, soap or disposable toothbrush despite the price we booked through Agoda. Their cafeteria at 5th floor is one of their best facilities. There are books, board games and food is affordable and great too. Location is near establishments such as ATM, banks, coffee shops and other restaurants.

Bring a lock & towel”

SGD8 is too cheap for a bed space in Manila. However, there is additional charge of 25pesos for towel and some charges for the lock which I did not take at all. You can go out to buy a lock near San Adres market at 25p. Of course bring your own towel. The location is perfect because it is near to all tourist attractions, nightlife, Korean/Japanese restaurants and Karaoke. There are also many massage parlours around there. Robinsons mall nearby is great for foodcourt at 3rd or 4th floor.
