Wonderful Homestay in beautiful surroundings!”
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at Stone Garden Homestay. We didn't want to leave! The owner, Thanh is a former tour guide, so he has good experience with accommodating tourists and can help plan with itineraries. He's also very entertaining and if you're lucky he might catch you some salmon or sturgeon from his pond for supper! The Homestay is brand new, the rooms are simple, but clean and the facilities are excellent. Hot showers, WiFi, and clothes washing all available. We particularly enjoyed the traditional Vietnamese herbal baths, not to be missed. The local village of Ta Phin is charming and peaceful and boasts some nice walks around the luscious rice paddies with spectacular, mountainous views and the town of Sapa is only a 20 minute drive away. The locals (red Dzao) will be sure to give you a warm welcome, but this usually comes at a small cost of buying some of their unique handicraft. Highly recommended! Will visit again.

Perfect place to discover the beautiful landscape ”
The Homestay at the Stone Garden turned out to be the perfect place to explore the area around Sapa! Living in the nice and quiet little village was an unforgettable experience for the two of us. The owner speaks good english and will always try to make things work for you. It was nice to stay so close to the local people and it felt a little like being a part of the family. The surrounding is absolutely beautiful and way better than staying in the city of Sapa itself! The rooms are very simple but you have everything you need and its clean and therefor very cheap! There is a nice little water stream in the yard where you can sit by and have some good local food. Also the herbal baths are to be recommended! Worth the money!!!

Lovely village homestay”
We had an amazing time at the Stone Garden Homestay. The grounds were beautiful, with an amazing garden, large pond and lovely view. Rooms were clean and simple but had some nice character. The staff was very friendly and eager to provide information on potential future stops along our travels. If you are looking for nice, quiet accommodation in a village outside Sapa, I would highly recommend here.

incredible location”
Excellent experience from top to bottom. The owner thanh was very present, helpful, and a genuinely good guy. Awesome location away from the crowds in ta phin village. Rent a motorbike and ride out there on your own, it will be an incredible experience. The walls are thin so bring some earplugs but the location, staff, and price is right on.

Stone Garden Homestay”
We had a lovely stay at stonegarden. The resort is owned by a hardworking family who try do their utterly best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are small but really clean and cosy. The atmosphere of the resort is peaceful. Stone garden is situated at a 30 minutes drive out of the Sapa city center. Taxi will cost you around 12 dollar. There are a few nice hikes you can do during your stay. One with and one without a guide. We did them both but I would recommend the hike with guide only when the weather conditions are good. Since the roads can be harsh and even dangerous without proper equipment. Please keep in mind that you will stay at a traditional rural surrounding. Which means that the homestay is a bit smokey due to the fumes of wood burning.

We didn't feel it was a homestay”
We spent some time finding this place with moto as we couldn't find Stone Garden's number anywhere. You could catch a cab for 250k dong out here, but I really recommend the super scenic route out to Ta Pinh village by motorbike. We must've stopped at least 10 times on the way over there. After some help from the Red Dao tribe we found the place. What was such a pity was that the owner didn't made us feel like home. There were vietnamese eating at his place, which seemed to get better food, more attention and generally was being prioritized over us, the guests. The accomodation is really basic (wood with gaps), the room consists of hard beds and hardly anything more. It is really badly isolated so we heard noises all evening and we were directly on top of the kitchen so we got smoky smells straight into our room. Huge plus for the cleanliness all around. Instead of presenting us with what the homestay had to offer, the owner did not include us enough. As I said, we didn't feel like home. Right from the begininng it was more of a 'can I help you with anything?'-attitude. The food tastes good enough, but is overpriced. The Vietnamese group eating there got way better food, and we were kinda tucked away in to a corner waiting for it all to be over before getting served. The best thing about this experience was the motorbike ride out to the place. Lovely scenery all around. But next time I would maybe do a daytrip to the Ta Phin village instead. The Red Dao tribe offer you a 1hr trek out there. They are super sweet and good in english, just hold on to your wallet as they take points off the experience in the end by pushing souvenirs down your throat.

Stone Garden Homestay general evaluation”
This welcoming and charming Homestay held by Mr. Thanh is an absolute must if you want to have it all: great service, cleanliness, comfort, great food, beautiful surroundings, calmness and great value for money ! Mr. Thanh has been involved in international tourism for over 10 years and he surely knows how to treat his guests and so does the staff at the homestay. Wether you travel alone, on business or with a family or group, you won't be deceived. Perfect choice !

Perfect homestay”
Lovely stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and great service. The nicest staff we've experienced during our travel. It is a bit of a drive from Sapa town, but there is a car service that has a fair price.

Lovely homestay”
The owner, Thanh, is friendly, funny and entertaining. We had a lovely stay at stonegarden, a really peaceful place. The staff is absolutely wonderful. You will find very good food and really reasonable despite the isolation. At half an hour of Sapa, you will find real Vietnam. Thank's you for everything Mr Than & co.

Expensive but really nice place. ”
They came in the room without telling us while we were out. The owner misinformed us about the hours and the prices of the bus. But the place was really nice and clean!

Not value for the money paid”
It's expensive, you can find the same rate at the town area. There is nothing much to do and eat in that area as well, so your only choice is to eat in the homestay. Food is expensive and price is double from other places, and the taste is not fantastic. We also have to wait for very long before the food came. Cats and dogs will keep coming and beg for food, even jump on the table, for every meal that you eat in the house. We keep being ignored by the owner / staffs as they are bias towards other guests. We literally have to wait for an hour for the food to come, just because the owner is chitchatting with the other guests and ignoring our order and the fact that we are hungry and cold. He even took away the hot charcoal placed beside us by the staff that keep us warm to the guests. The cost for the trekking package is not fixed and will suddenly increase just before we go for the trekking. When there are other guests in the house, you will not find peace at all as you can hear them talking, shouting, and walking (stomping) from inside your room. Well, at least the room have a heater.

Not what the picture looks like”
There was a mouse in my room tended to climb on my mattress (no bed) in the middle of the night. It's also a restaurant for tourists, so come prepared for the noise at lunch and dinner, as well as the constant ethnic song going on and on and on (it's a connecting complex). The staff played with each other and made noise louder even than the guests. The room was ok with no view at all and no sound proofing. I could hear the hard breath of the neighbours next door. The owner is a friendly and welcoming person but maybe he should just choose restaurant or accommodation.

Nothing homey about this stay”
very impersonal, rather tolerated than in any way included in the family life. this is a touristy restaurant trying to make money.owners are in no way interested in sharing their home. place is very noisy due to the paper-thin walls. also the rooms are above the kitchen so you either have the kitchen smell or the smell of smoke comming from downstairs in tour nose. not relaxing at all. bathroom and toilets are see-through so there is a high lack of privacy. would not recommend this place considering the price you pay and the attitude of the owners.
