totally annoyed
nothing special
it is extremely inconvenient. we took a while to reach the hotel. the entrance was unclear that makes us puzzled. as it is a hanok, we need to take off our shoes and climb a big step to enter the room which we nearly tripped over or fell off a few times. we knew that the hotel provides shared bathrooms, the conditions of the bathrooms were out of our expectation. the bathroom looks muddy and unhygienic. the water came out like leaking tubes and the temperature of the water is either too cold or too hot. the whole showering was a disaster. most importantly, the room is like a mini forest. sleeping with insects and sniffing the smell of old wood was a fresh experience for our family. sleeping on a thin mattress is a torture. my family members got a sleepless night and i was woken by a fly that flew into my ear. although the staff's attitude was quite good, the hotel doesn't worth that much money i paid. the wifi there was too weak that i couldn't even send a wtsapp. seriously, living in this hotel is the last thing you should do.

Traditional Korean House
Setting is lovely
we didn't really know what was available in andong...we just wanted a cool place to stay while we visited the mask festival. this guesthouse popped up and the price seemed right so we reserved for 3 nights. we were stunned that it was a good 30-40 minutes ride outside of town. if we had a car, this would be a much better place to stay. the advantage is that it is right next to a bus stop, so you don't need a taxi. however, the buses are limited, so if you miss it, your only option is a taxi. the room is tiny with bare minimum essentials, basically your futon and rice pillow and a light. the floor is warmed at night by the traditional fire, not electric. that was very nice. there is a shared shower room and toilet. you must walk outside to get to it. so in the colder months, i would probably not like that. the shower was hot and lovely to use though. the woman who manages the guesthouse is sweet and friendly and welcoming. however, don't expect anything else....there are no meals here or even a cup of tea. being that you are out of town a long way, breakfast or at least tea in the morning would really be a great addition to this stay. across the road from the guesthouse is the loveliest setting! it is on the river and there is a beautiful small park to sit or stroll. so pretty! the setting is the best reason to visit here and if you want the experience of sleeping in a traditional korean house.

Traditional, just renovated korean house
An air of tradition, but not for the customer
The house is 20 km out of Andong right beneath the lake. There is no infrastructure (shop, restaurant etc.) in the vicinity. You are depending on taxi (between 24-30000 Won from/to Andong). The buses run infrequently and coming from Andong you have to get out before the dam and walk the remaining kilometer or so. The very friendly owner tries to speak some English. There is absolutely no service, no tea, water etc. The ondol room was about 2,5 sqm and had a plastic floor (no wood, no linoleum). My critique is not so much on the low, if acceptable standard (for simple minbak)that can account under "authenticity", but is aimed at the very bad relation of what you get for the money you pay.

Truely perfect place for relaxing away from city!!
it's quiet, clean and has a beautiful scenery!
I have ever wanted to stay and experience 'Han-Oak'(<- it's a Korean traditional form of house) style of accomodation! Suaedang met all my expectation. It was quiet, clean and beautiful! The owner was so nice and friendly! She friendly guided us how to use facilities and let us know things to do in An-dong!! I stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights with my mother. If you want to exeperience truely beautful part of Korean culture(traditional part), I would like to strongly recommend you to visit Suaedang and An-dong city!! You won't regret at all! Cheers!
