Best Value for Maximum Experience”

amazing staff caters to any and every need or want

I can't say enough great things about the Sugar Hotel. It's like staying with a friend or family -- anything you need, they'll make sure it's taken care of. And the price! So affordable! We had the on-duty manager schedule three separate adventure days for us (two of which were completely private using the hotel's luxury car and a private tour guide), which can be catered to your whims on the fly. One of our suitcases broke in transit -- no problem. They had it sent out to be fixed for $20 (US). The Waterfront is about a 5 - 10-minute walk, where you can find tons of restaurants and a full shopping mall. Table Mountain is just a few miles away. I fell in love with Cape Town, in large part due to the amazing experience I had at this hotel. If I am ever able to get back, I will without a doubt stay there again. Oh! And breakfast! Ridiculously good. Legit.

Boutique Hotel”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sugar hotel. It is very small, with only 8 guest rooms, but the service went above and beyond with friendliness and efficiency. The public spaces are tiny, but the restaurant is a good size and breakfast was very good. Our room was enormous and the bed huge, but with all that space, there was nowhere to hide the luggage so it stayed in view which ruined the look of the room. The room was nicely appointed - but Cape Town itself is so exceptional that we left early in the morning and didnt return until late - so the room was only used for sleeping. The location is close to the V&A and we used Uber very successfully (having been told by a friend to not trust taxis). If you are looking for a small hotel with service that is warm, friendly and efficient, you won't do better than Sugar.

Excellent hotel with great rooms and service”

Very comfortable room

although situated in the shadow of the protea, this small but excellently decorated and comfortable hotel comes with great service. near v&a waterfront but walking is not really considered an option. secured but limited parking (max 4 cars) available. breakfast, included in the room price, was tastefully presented with customised order from a la carte menu. driving from hotel to other parts of the city and even out of cape town is easy. access to the n1 and n2 is quite straight forward.

Satisfied in general”

This small boutique hotel has everything a traveller might need such as free secured parking and breakfast beyond expectations. The area is safe for walking even when it's dark and it's within walking distance from the bars and restaurants. This hotel has one room in the ground floor (lucky me) that in my opinion should be mentionned before booking that the customer will be staying at the basement. During the day it was slightly noisy from the massage room that was just next. The natural light in the room was very limited, it didn't feel right. Efficient soundproof considering it's very noisy location. In Cape Town, staying in the ground floor and without any protection at the window can be somewhat upsetting, although the 24-hour receptionist hopefully will hear any suspicious noise.

Luxurious Boutique Hotel - Friendly and comfortabl”

Staff, Location, room

This Boutique hotel in cape town ticks all the boxes. Extremely friendly and hospitable staff ensured our stay was perfect. The rooms were clean, quiet and extremely spacious, the bathroom was enormous and filled with luxurious amenities. The bed was large & comfy which made for an easy nights sleep after a long flight from Sydney. Location was spot on, short drive from the airport, short walk to the V&A waterfront and only a short drive to table mountain. With a lovely breakfast & safe/secure parking it really is impossible to fault this hotel. My one regret is that we only booked 2 nights.

The Best. Hotel. Ever!”

“Sugar” Isca small boutique hotel is a hidden gem, within a 10 minute walk to the V & A waterfront. We were greeted at the door by George (superior service with a smile) and 2 adorable golden labs. Felt like we were coming home. Pilgrim was radiant, super helpful and personally took us to our room. Then we had a knock at our door and our room “beautifier” presented us with a plate that had “Welcome” scrolled in chocolate (and a few treats). “Spice” is the name of their attached restaurant and the food was so fabulous we took photos. There are not enough words to express what a wonderful hotel this is. Book now because once the word gets out, there will be a waiting list.

stunning 5-star hotel”

large rooms, value-for-money, great breakfast, prime location

if you do not want to bother reading the following long review, just make sure you get my abbreviated stand on this hotel: outstanding in every respect. if i really want to nitpick, the only thing missing is a fitness center. otherwise, this is indeed a true 5-star hotel, as advertised. the food, the staff, the rooms, the service, the tours and the location score full marks. i stayed with my family of four (myself, my teenage brother, and my parents) in this 3-storey, 7-room boutique hotel in june 2012, for 7 nights. location: you might or might not yet have heard of the v&a waterfront. this waterfront is the equivalent of san francisco’s fisherman’s wharf and sydney’s waterfront. the hotel is located 10 (if you walk briskly) or 20 (if you amble slowly) minutes away from the v & a. either way, it is a very manageable walk to the waterfront. we walked a dozen times to and fro from the waterfront to the hotel at all times of the day (the latest we ever walked back was around 8 at night), and safety-wise, there was absolutely no problem. besides the waterfront, the 2010 world cup stadium is also the same distance away. there are restaurants, fast-food places and a supermarket at the waterfront, so everything we needed was within easy reach. staff: they were friendly, accommodating and warm. because of its friendly team, i am able to recall the names of those i interacted with during my stay: the owners, marc and riaan; cindy, de wade, gary, nkosi, oncemore, and serenity. the hotel: the interior design is elegant, contemporary, yet cozy. the sitting area, for instance, was furnished exquisitely with coffee table tomes; the sofas were comfortable; and the lights were warm and welcoming. you could actually spend an hour or two just sitting there and flipping through the books. the rooms: the rooms were huge, and the bathroom was just amazing. imagine a bathroom that is almost half the size of the already spacious room, and you are looking at the sug

Cosiest place to stay!”

Not enough stars to do this cosy, friendly hotel justice. The facilities were all we could wish for and more, the food was delicious served in the friendliest setting, service was excellent and the staff was the friendliest and most helpful I have encountered in a long time. They make the hotel the lovely place that it is. A shout out to our fantastic waitress, Dorcas who has the loveliest smile and easy laugh. I will certainly stay at the Sugar Hotel and their restaurant, the Spice, is worth a visit even if you're not staying at the hotel. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

Cecil ”

Sugar Hotel is a small boutique hotel with wonderful staff. It is staffed 24 hours a day and the front staff knew us. We were able to park in the small off street parking (allows for about 2 or 3 vehicles), which was good reassurance since we had a rental car. We were able to order off the ala carte menu for the wonderful breakfast (included). The bed pillows were of various thickness and material, allowing one to choose the type desired. The room and bathroom were clean and well stocked. We would like to stay here again.

The hotel is well located, the breakfasts were wonderful and the rooms were attractive

Sugar Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel with good sized rooms, beautiful decor and great staff. Everyone staff member we met was positive and could not do enough to help you. The breakfasts (prepared by the owners) were just wonderful. We would have tried dinner in the hotel but it was fully booked each night. It is in walking distance to numerous hotels and shops. We would recommend the hotel highly and hope to return.

A wonderful small hotel with an excellent staff”

The staff was very helpful, the breakfast was outstanding. The decor of the hotel (rooms, dining area, lobby) is very well done. It is very sophisticated, yet comfortable.
Lighting in bathroom was not good

We normally do not stay in luxury accommodations, but we were able to get a very good rate through Agoda. Also, the location was very good. Everything about the hotel was spectacular. Although we did not have breakfast included in our rate, they offered to add breakfast at no cost. The breakfast consisted of cereal and fruit, followed by your choice of hot items. Everything was wonderful, including the best coffee I had in Cape Town.

Fantastic hotel in a great location.”

Beautifully decorated room with large bathroom and a spa pool outside the balcony.

Great location - about 15 mins drive to Table Mountain. about 5-7 mins drive to waterfront. Conveniently located near the highways to Cape point, Hermanus etc. Food - Restaurant serves fantastic food. Breakfast was great and the dinner menu though has limited choices but the quality is superb. Hotel service - The staffs are so, so helpful and genuinely polite always. Safety - no barb wires around the hotel but I felt extremely safe. Cars can be parked in the in-door garage.

Great location, service, food, rooms

Tiny little Boutique hotel, one of Cape Town's real gems. I don't know what to compliment first. The rooms are superb and very well fitted-out and mine had a hot-tub out on a private balcony. The staff counldn't have done more for us, taking time to walk us down to the Waterfront (a 5-7 minute walk, very convenient), opening the bar especially for us when we arrived that first night at some late hour. Thanks very much for an absolutely wonderful stay. I shall be back!

Lovely hotel, but not really smile service”

good design, nice room, great location

we stayed 4 nights in sugar. it was quite long. heard they had great breakfast, but we found its quiet disappointing. 1st, all breakfast choices on the menu are related to egg which is very boring. if you only stay for 1 night is ok, but for longer, no. 2nd, the lady serve the breakfast definitely with no smile or very dry one. we didn't feel like welcome morning. compare to blackheath, their service was much nicer. the rooms are very nice designed, and we like the toilet is a separate room which could provide more comfortable privacy. last: such beautiful hotel deserves the same level of beautiful service and then you will be unbeatable.
