I would come back”
We just stay 1 night, but the experience was amazing. The woman in charge knows English and that is very helpfull. She helps us calling to the bus company for ticket reservation to Shirakawa. And also with a luggage delivery. Thanks to her, our standing on Kanazawa was very easy. The room is big. There is a private restroom and a little bathroom. And if you want the ryokan has another bigger shared bath. The Japanese breakfast was delicious too. If I’m coming back to Kanazawa, I know where I should go.

Lovely Stay”
Sumiyosshiya is very close to the Omicho Market and the Kanazawa Castle Grounds and Kenrokuen Gardens. It is also a 10 minute walk from the train station. We had a private bathroom, which was very spacious with separate areas for the toilet, sink, and shower. The hotel was also very quiet. The hostess was very gracious and helpful with any questions.

It is a pleasant experience to stay three nights in this Japanese style hotel. The location is good, close to Omicho market and Kanazawa castle. Walking to other attractions and train station is not too far. The room is very clean and quiet, and staffs are helpful. I will choose it again.

Nice people but wouldn’t stay again”
When I checked online I booked it to be near Kanazawa station but it turned out to be over a mile away. So I wouldn’t recommend if anyone’s walking with bags. It’s typical old Japanese but also quite shabby. The owners do a great job but I’ve done it but wouldn’t repeat it. For Breakfast we picked western it was a bowl of cereal & milk a tub of yogurt 2 strawberries 1 slice of toast each & a very small danish & a fried egg.

Wonderful ryokan experience”
Stayed here for one night to experience a traditional ryokan. It was raining when I arrived in the evening and the hostess quickly use a cloth to wipe my luggage. Was pleasantly surprised to find a pot of hot tea and a snack on the room table. The room comes with toilet and wash basin which is good. When I returned from dinner outside, the futon was already nicely laid out for me. I was a bit hesitant about using the open bath so I waited till late and there were no one else. Their traditional Japanese breakfast is a must try, very tasty.

Perfect ryokan ”
Super nice and traditional ryokan that won't break the budget. The rooms are spacious, the futons comfortable and there's fast wifi. The location is great and you can reach pretty much everywhere on foot. It's a family-run ryokan which makes it have a very homely feel. If you ever wanted to experience a Japanese Inn, then this is the place. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved being here. The place has a peaceful understated elegance, is very peaceful and yet centrally located. The owner is very helpful and thoughtful. The spa downstairs was an absolute bonus each evening after a day of sight seeing. Highly recommend this place.

Family run traditional Ryokan with 370 years history”
The ryokan is being run by the 9th generation of the same family for 370 years since Edo period. That is very impressive. It’s been renovated to include modern day comforts and the entire family operates the 8 rooms business together. The Kaiseki dinner that utilize local seasonal ingredients is also to die for. Our family of 3 stayed here for 2 nights and did a day tour to Shirakawago. We knew beforehand that it is a traditional place and we wanted the experience and we were not disappointed. We particularly likes that it is family run and they are so welcoming.

Great traditional Japanese breakfast and Ryokan. The staff was understanding and helpful in addressing our dietary restrictions with breakfast. Just note, if you are taller than most Japanese people, make sure to bring warm socks, because your feet will be sticking out of the shorter duvet cover at night. We asked for double layer/triple layer futons because we are side sleepers and this was comfortable for us and just about equivalent to a mattress. Tea cookies and warm tea were a nice touch in the room on check in, and warm tea in the room when we got back was also available. They had great yukatas for each guest and the onsen was warm, steamy, and comfortable after a cold day of traveling outside. Walking distance to Kenrokuen gardens and Omicho fish market. Overall loved our stay, the staff was lovely. Would stay again.

旅行当日は激しい雨の日でした。 荷物をチェックインの時間より早めに置かせてもらえるように行ったのですが部屋の用意はすでに済ませて下さっていて少し休ませてもらいました。 その間に濡れた靴を乾かしてくださるなどの心遣いに感動でした！ また金沢へ旅行に行った際にはまた是非利用したいです！

近江町市場が近い”
食事なしでも問題なしです。お風呂が11pm、門限12時でした。Wi-Fiないですが、街中で温泉楽しめるので、こちらにしました。古い旅館ですが、キレイに維持されています。荷物も預けられるので、観光しやすくて助かりました。
