Great Budget Stay in St Kilda”

Stayed here for two nights in the triple room with a friend. The beds were really comfortable and the room we got was spacious. The reception staff we had contact with were very friendly and helpful. The place itself is really close to a lot of great shops, bars and the beach in St Kilda which is its greatest appeal. The only thing in too keep in mind is that the room could have been cleaner, however for the price you pay and everything else that comes with it, we would both definitely stay there again as it is overall really great value for a short stay :)

As we are approaching the high peak tourist season be prepared to move dorms or room's because of high bookings , very few people stay in the same place more than one or 2 nights, ,not the best place to unwind from jet lag, ? Prices can be a bit high for what they offer, you can get a nice hotel room self contained or a air bed b rental for a week with privacy, backpackers not all of us a made of money ,some are just looking for a place for a fresh start? Rents can be high in St kilda , lowering the age demographic , also means lowering the income of those who come , the older the person draws better business ,professionals , not a party house but can be a social one, trying to be something they are not? Short stay only recommend, , thanks , note summer is in December January ,if looking for warmer weather 😀 kitchen can be dirty at times, housekeeping is staffed by rental subsidies free rent for stay ,if struggling financially? But they're selective? They need to change with the times , to improve more value for money , ? Must offer more ? For high cost ,

Nice Private Rooms”

Nice private rooms, but it is located underneath a nightclub so was very very loud until late. Very nice bathrooms with good powerful showers. Good location and helpful staff, but whilst being able to use the kitchen was very helpful it did not have an oven and other guests were not very good at keeping the space clean.

Great little find in St Kilda beach sector of Melbourne with direct access from airport on Skybus. Has A$10 nights of steak and all you can eat pizza at the linked bar. Can be a little noisy, but not over powering if you choose third floor. Questionable security if you have to leave your bags on the day of departure, but for price paid very spacious clean room (we had room 301). About a 5 minute stroll to beach.

The kitchen is a huge downside to it and just not easily functional except any time when making food isn't a normal time. No breakfast bowls most of the time and although it's free the breakfast options and the availability has been better previously. That is the only thing I could really fault, room was comfortable and bathroom was fine. The rooftop area and seating section is pretty good but I'm not convinced the price is overall justified u less you can get it each time for a cheaper price.

Ok stay, weird vibes”

The hostel was alright. The proximity to St. Kilda beach is nice. I didn't like the vibe of the backpackers / long stayers there at all. There is no common space to socialize and the bar area is so-so. Only recommended for easy visits to the beach.

Not as advertised, specifically images ”

The only 2 positives I can think of are 1. Images looked good online 2. Staff were nice at check in. Everything else was grim. And dire. The private room I booked looked nothing like the advertised images. Images also included towels, which there are none of at all. After a walk back to my ‘nearby’ parking (for me was the botanical gardens 7 mins walk away with luggage). I was lucky enough to encounter two acts of street prostitution, which wasn’t listed as offered. Worth it to get a towel for a shower. Lucky for me there was no hot water so I saved myself that convenience after a long days travel and matched the grime of the carpets and smell with my own foul level of hygiene. There was toothpicks and food waste on my table, which was fun to muse on while I tried (without success) to get the heater to work. No matter, I kept myself warm with trying to guess the smell. Top guesses were neighbors smokes but sometimes vanilla room freshener as masking agent. Mainly the word strong musk could cover all of it. The sanitary bin is a gross feature. Knowing they are collected weekly if not monthly means previous occupants likely used that bin which I got to now cohabit with. Really giving that shared bathroom feel for the bargain price of a private room. If you’re staying and want a hostel experience just stay in a dorm. This private room was advertised as if a hotel suite. And there’s nothing sweet at all here. Except sharing the ‘what I paid for vs what I got’ photos for lols with your mates. One star. But only coz at least it wasn’t the street.

Review on the Room”

First of all the package was one star (I clicked the first question 5 stars wrongly just the receptions were welcoming and warm, the rest was terrible!)The room was totally different from what had been shared on your website. In the description you had written there will be breakfast and drinks available but neither of them was there. In the picture you have shared pictures of balconies but there was no balcony in the hotel! the bed sheet and quilt were very old and the towels were not clean and were full of burn marks! no toothpaste no shampoo, no hangers for our clothes and no slippers were provided. There was a vacuum cleaner left in the room. To say in short, in the pictures there room was so clean and more luxury but the real room was a disaster!! It was not worth more than $30/night! I have taken some pictures and videos from the room to compare with what is shared on the website (I can share if you want). They are completely different. Briefly, the whole thing was a disaster!! I want to claim this somewhere and get a part of my money back. Please read my review and let me know how I can get a part of my money back as the room was not really worth $58.20!

So easy! Clean rooms, not sure if they did without the night club bc I never hear anything and I stayed on Friday and Saturday night.... Nice staff, clean room... I've been in the hostel and private rooms... Hostels in general are not for me... But it was what is expected from a hostel... The private rooms are surprisingly nice, very clean and tidy.... Summer house hands down has the nicest private rooms out of any local backpackers place :-) def recommend !

well its a nice place to stay . very helpful staff”

Nice hostel . A little far from the CBD . But excesible by Trams . The skybus from the airport is very expensive. About >_<AUD $ 19. Alternatively you may take the public bus No. 901 from Terminal 4 carpark Ground floor to Broad meadows train station which is a 15 minute drive . From there take the train to Flinders Street station which is a 40 minute journey and from there take Tram No. 16 to St Kilda's tell the driver you need to alight at Barkly street. And it stops near the traffic light junction at Barkly Street. Just turn left at the traffic light along Barkly Street walk straight along Barkly Street, about 200 meters and at the first traffic light junction , Summer House is at the corner on the left . It costs only about AUD $6.00. If you want to save . :-) Nice place to stay. You can cook your own food . They have all the facilities like stoves, microwaves , ovens, storage fridges and utensils and cutlery. Enjoy the stay!

Ideal for backpackers!”

Value for money, very friendly and attentive staff, great location!

Originally booked for only 3 nights, ended up staying for over 3 weeks. Great location and very friendly staff made my stay very enjoyable. I would recommend it to every backpacker. The place is full of travellers from all over the world mostly staying in Melbourne for longer while working. There is common kitchen with a big fridge so you can cook your own meals. When you feel like relaxing you can use TV room to watch a movie or use internet. There is pretty fast wi-fi also available but you need to pay for it. There are two bars: main one on the ground floor and roof top one opened only during weekends, so you don't have to go far to have a beer! Overall a great hostel to stay while travelling around AU!!!

Decent place to stay”

Cheap, clean and has an elevator

Nice and friendly place with a cosy pub downstairs. Comfortable bunks and not too noisy. St. Kilda is a really lovely place to stay. Internet costs 5 dollars per 4 hours and was really fast.
