Perfect escape from the Kathmandu crazyness”

Quietness, serene garden setting, yummy diverse food

So relaxing! Kathmandu is very lively and interesting, but can feel crowded and dusty. The summit hotel has the perfect setting to escape this and relax from your trip in the city. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the food is diverse, very affordable and tastes wonderful. The hotel has a small swimming pool and recently build small but well equipped gym. The hotel attracts an expat clientele and is family friendly.

Beautiful Hotel w/ an amazing garden landscape”

Garden, Fitness Centre, Rooms

The Summit Hotel exceeded my expectations for hotels in Kathmandu. Nestled among other hotels and windy roads you would never expect the Summit Hotel to have such beautiful grounds and gardens. It is peaceful within the hotel grounds and I felt completely safe there. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and just an overall great experience for my first time in Nepal.

Shangri La”

Location , friendliness value

The Summit Hotel has a well deserved reputation for the standards of accommodation and service that are experienced. The staff are friendly , courteous and helpful. The food is really good in terms of the variety of meals offered and there is something for all tastes. The laundry service was brilliant and the clothes were returned in really good order and very promptly. Rooms are good and housekeeping is efficient and unobtrusive. On clear days it was brilliant to be able to see Langtan and Ganesh Himal from the terrace. Would definitely stay here again.

As usual we very much enjoyed our time at the Summit Hotel. We have been going there several times over the last 12 years and as always we were very much looked after by the staff. The only downside was that the prices for drinks have gone up considerably compared to other establishments. Maybe we should look elsewhere for our next visit??

Good hotel in a dusty city”

Good food, hotel environment, greenry

Nepal has constant power cut every day. It can be very inconvenient. The Summit Hotel is one of the oldest hotels. It is a very nice hotel in Kathmandu. Breakfast is double the price of lunch, surprisingly. Service was good, safe in the hotel as well. The garden view room are all double beds, very small bed in a tiny room.

Pleasant, good value-for-money part of 3 starhotel”

Nice grounds with outdoor pool, good restaurant, friendly and effective staff

I decided to test this room and if I didn't like the lack of air-conditioning, TV and private bathroom in the room I could always upgrade (which is true). However, I liked the Holland House enough, as it has everything you have in your own house if living in Kathmandu: a good bed, a fan, a desk, toilet and showing nearby and internet, while the main hotel with beautiful grounds and outdoor pool and restaurant is still accessible. So I came back and took the same room again. Nothing wrong with Holland House, as long as you can't miss the usual hotel room amenities and provided you choose the cool season, like May to July and September-October. The price was right.

Budget room in a three star hotel ”

Budget room, friendly staff, internet in room

I came during the monsoon time. Then Kathmandu is not too hot, although humid. I decided to try out the non-AC, shared bathroom part of this 3-star hotel and I found it good enough. The room is still big enough with a desk. It has a powerful fan and windows opening on opposite sides to get some breeze through. The shower and bathroom are just outside the room in the corridor and all is kept very clean. The hotel grounds with restaurant and swimming pool are still available also. Good value-for-money.

Away from the bustle and good mountain views”

Friendly staff. Mountain views.

The Summit Hotel is a great place to stay if you are wanting somewhere away from the chaos that is Thamel. Having lived in Kathmandu for several years, this was my hotel of choice since it held many fond memories and was close to friends. The hotel was full to bursting on the night I stayed, so there were only rooms left in Holland House, the hostel part of the hotel. Sadly, I found the room to be musty, damp and overpriced, with just a communal toilet and separate shower room. It was nice however to catch up with the friendly staff, but I wouldn't stay in Holland House again.

Great oasis in the center of Kathmandu”

Quiet, views, grounds

Spent three days at Summit. Very pleasant experience. I take into account we had a $50/nite room via Agoda.com so we had a small room and shared bathroom. There are other larger, nicer rooms. The grounds are excellent, the views beautiful, the service great. Very peaceful. The gym and pool look awesome although I didn't take advantage of it. All-in-all, a very peaceful, pleasant stay at a reasonable price!

Always a place to call home in Kathmandu”

staff, price, location

We come here every year for our two week business trip to Kathmandu. We're on a budget so we stay in Holland House with shared bathrooms, but it's never too busy - so it's pretty private. Food is really great, and there is always a relaxing spot for you to enjoy and evening or morning tea.

food, garden

I stayed at the Summit Hotel for the third time. Food at the restaurant is always delicious and of a good quality. Rooms are clean and tidy but you sometimes feel that it is slightly inclined. Internet connection is good through land line disposed at the room but wifi is very weak in many cases.

The loacation is excellent and the area does not suffer from the terrible Kathmandu airpollution. Good place for lunch. Taxieas are avaiable at the entrance to the hotel. It is not in a shoppingg area or sightseeing area, but this is an advantage because one is not pestered by agents.

Mama getaway”

Swimming pool, food and drink, great breakfast.

Overall I had a lovely stay. Beautiful gardens to sit and ponder life made for a great mama getaway. To save on cash I opted for a room with a shared bath. No problem with that, but the room had a musty smell, which I attributed to the monsoon season. In the morning after sleeping in that smell all night, I was ready to quickly leave my room and rest somewhere else on the grounds. Otherwise had a really lovely stay.
