Lovely experience staying in this resort. Unique decoration. Food served with love. The only complain is the creaky bed. Otherwise everything else is great.

Unique experience at the Sun Moon Lake!”
First of all the Full House is more a B&B than a resort, but it offers all the best things about B&Bs. The property is choke full of character and it is clear a lot of thought has gone into every detail. The gardens and rooms are decorated with a lot of antiques and decorations from everywhere as well as paintings done by the owner's wife. We spent a long time just taking photos of the place! The rooms have all the usual amenities and the beds are large and comfortable. The balcony offers a good view of the Sun Moon Lake. The owner was very warm and friendly and actually took us for a short drive at night to see the fireflies! Something we would have never found out by ourselves but a definite highlight of the trip. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and the whole place has a very warm family-run feel to it. Would also highly recommend having dinner here as the incorporation of fresh fruit into the cuisine is very interesting and worth experiencing. The food here is actually quite famous within Taiwan with lots of non-tenants coming to try it. The location is in Ita Thao, on the other side of the lake from the more populated Shuishe where the buses into Sun Moon Lake tend to stop. You can take a boat or bus to get to Ita Thao. Full House also offers a pickup service but you will need to telephone ahead to confirm the time - we found that the staff did not receive our a request made through the Agoda booking form or email, and this is the only complaint we had during our stay. All in all a great experience and we would recommend the Full House to people who are looking for a unique experience while they are touring the area.

Good Stay ”
The resort is great for my family with eldest ppls and 2 young kids. The room is clean and big and the overall environment is great! The breakfast is simple but yummy and we love it so much. Very close to the pier, cable car station and food mkt. The staff are very nice and you can ask for advise if you have any questions. I will definately stay in Sun Moon Lake Full House Resort again for 2nd sun moon lake trip.

A good choice on Ita Shao”
We stayed one night at SML Full House Resort, and overall it was a good experience. The hotel is a beautiful chalet nestled on the south side of the lake, Ita Shao village. We enjoyed this area a great deal more than the more touristy north shore, but it does have its downside: there are no boats crossing the lake at night, and the first public bus is at 7 in the morning (the next one at 8:30). So make arrangements if you need to take a bus early in the morning to travel on to another city (Alishan especially). One downside (for us) was the decorating style of the owner, which some people enjoy but we definitely didn't. The garden and house were filled with knick-knacks and art pieces of dubious taste, and it made the whole place very cluttered -- when the chalet and garden on their own could have been delightful otherwise. What a shame. The owner and staff speak very limited English, but were helpful and kind. The restaurant serves some rather tasty and creative food, but the portions sizes might leave you a bit hungry. I'd recommend drinking a beer on the pier and watch the sun set on the lake. It was a great experience.

A curious hotel in a great location”
Chose this location as it was away from the main tourist centre and nearer the aboriginal culture village, it was in walking distance to the cable car. Beautiful room and interesting garden. We loved Sun Moon Lake and would probably stay here again if we return. Felt like a family run business, everyone very helpful and attentive.

Nice room in special hotel”
Sun Moon Lake is one of the main tourist locations in Taiwan and that is exactly what you get. Bus loads of tourists and a even more businesses which try to make their living from these tourists. We nevertheless enjoyed the stay in a nicely decorated mountain viewing (although there are no mountains to view from the hotel) room, if you like wood. The bed was comfortable only a bit short for someone above 6'3". High speed WiFi was available in the room and our sleep was excellent. The latter was not least owed to the fact that the adjacent large museum shut off their ventilation system pretty early at night as temperatures were quite fresh. We prefer not to imagine the noise during a warm summer night, when the mighty museum Aircon units would become active in addition. Even without them in operation the noise level from the ventilation was impressive and it did not really help that the window frames were gaping quite a lot due to broken seals. The decoration of the dining area is wild. Staff was friendly, once you managed to get their attention, breakfast was more on the barren side. To the lakeside a newly build hotel covers most of the view and another one might be build next to it not too long into the future. Unfortunately and a bit sad the Full House Resort seems to have had its heydays. But, it presently might still be an ok choice given the alternatives in this tourist hot spot. But don't forget the earplugs, when you book a mountain view room or when you want to sit in the garden during operation times of the museums aircon and/or ventilation system.

Wonderful Sun Moon Lake Kitsch”
Was delighted when the owner was still up at about 11pm when we arrived-- we had been delayed by road closure in 21 just past Alishan. Was expecting more of a true hotel/resort reception, but this is family run and much more casual. Beautiful house and gardens, meticulously maintained. The decor is a cute mix of modern and retro and antiques which gives the main space and rooms a unique look and feel. Huge flat screen, private deck overlooking the lake, nice complementary amenities for the bath. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast is included and was homemade, western style, with some local flair. Also, dog friendly!

Arty yet affordable hotel in excellent location”
Plus Points: - haberdashery of delightful art objects that decorate both hotel and restaurant in a pleasant manner - excellent restaurant (they creatively utilise fruits with each of their dishes!) that is well endorsed in the Michelin guide and many other resto-guides from Taiwan - cute Swiss chalet style wooden building - large and comfortable rooms - walking distance from the (NT$300 per person) "rope way" cable car to head up to the "Formosa Aboriginal Culture Village" (which is really a commercial theme park with additional entrance fee of NT$ 250 per head) - easy access to lakeside trail (cycle/hike route) Areas for Improvement: - English language skills of staff is limited - breakfast not extraordinary. Just ok by western standards Overall Take-away: - you can reach the hotel from the main bus station of SML by taking the local bus that tours round the lake (NT$30). It is the next stop in the small town of Ita Thao after the stop for the cable car (lifted close to the Lealea hotel) - located in the small town Ita Thao has plenty of small stores, street food and restaurants plus the pier with boats to get to the other side of the lake. Room tip: request a top floor lake-view room or back-room to avoid the noise of the early-bird groups strolling by the lake at 8am

Awesome experience, great for relaxing trip”
From the moment you reach the entrance of the resort, it feels like you walked into a different area as it looks like a log cabin that is vastly different from the surrounding areas. There is a garden like dining area before you step into the check in area. Inside, the place is nicely decorated and the boss attended to our check in. He was very nice and offered an upgrade to a ocean view. He helped carry my luggage up the steep steps. The room was so clean and the toilet had very new amenities. There was a rain shower and also a huge TV in front of the two queen size beds. You can also try the fruit meal as the owner's wife is a one star michelin chef in taiwan. At night, the owner personally drove us up the dark mountains to watch fireflies, free of charge. It was a good experience, highly recommended!

Excellent friendly place to stay.”
Excellent. The food was top notch. The non-English speaking staff did a great job with making us feel welcome. The owner's art and collections were stylishly arranged throughout the hotel. Eating in the garden was delightful. Easy walking access around the lake and to the ferries.

Amazing”
This place is just great. The rooms are amazing and the staff is so friendly. My girlfriend and I were pressed for time to catch the lake bus back around to the main bus terminal so the owner offered us a ride. The owner! Really, this place is amazing.

Extremely overpriced food!”
Climate and decor in this resor is really amazing! Inside and outsie you can feel there magic of this place. Scultures and garden are fantastic. The view from our room on he first floor was on the Lake. But in the place like this it should be a better food. The brakfasts was the same every day and it was simple. But the worst was the dinner - the restaurat in this resort offres simple one-dish shrimp for 1000 taiwan dollars!

Fantastic Experience ”
This place is amazing, the building itself as well as the surrounding gardens are something to behold. The owner is extremely generous and for the price you can't beat it. I will stay here every time I visit SML.

Overnight stay at Sunmoon Lake”
Good location, Ita Thao pier and the cable car is just a short walk. Room is spacious but the bathroom wasn't in too good condition. Decoration is unique, the house interior and the garden is really nice, has a good atmosphere. Staff wasn't always approachable (on our check-out date it took a while to find someone in the morning). Staff didn't speak too much English.

Above average”
The price is quite expensive, lake view room is just 1/4 of the lake, there is other hotel offer full lake view.
