It is highly recommended to book a lake view room during your stay in Sun Moon Lake. It is especially calm & relaxing during the night. I am not sure about other hotel, but all rooms at this hotel will have their balcony light off automatically at 10pm, should be for visitor to better enjoy the calmness of the lake? Not sure about that though. Another plus point is that the hotel provide several in-house games/activities such as basketball machine, billiard, Ice-hockey table, X-box & Wii player. Personally, I love the breakfast served! Wide variety with a mixed of Chinese & Western style. However, the location is not the best among hotel in Sun Moon Lake. We have to take a five min shuttle bus to the "central" of Sun moon lake where all the local eateries and public transport are located at. Alternatively, you can walk which take round 15-20 min.

What a delightful hotel with a beautiful lake view and convenient location!  We have been visiting many National Parks both in the United States and Taiwan.  Sun Moon Lake National Park and Hotel del Lago definitely has been the best experience we’ve had so far.  Hotel Del Lago’s location provides unparalleled views.  You can sit at the balcony of the hotel room and enjoy a wonderful view of the lake.   Even though the facilities are not equivalent to a five-star hotel, the location, the views, and the staff were outstanding.  Jerry, the Executive Secretary, is super friendly, professional, and very accommodating to our needs.  He is willing to go the extra mile to give us a lots of tips regarding nearby tours, even the tours for our next destinations.  The hotel is also situated nearby downtown Sun Moon Lake which have many dining places you can choose from.   It only takes three minutes to walk from the bus stop to the hotel.  Furthermore, there is a biking trail just a few steps awa

Location is very good and very close to bus station and boat harbor. There is also many shops and restauraants. Hotel gave us a coffee coupon. Inside room has big hot spring bathtub and it is wonderful. Hotel has morning climbing free event and can enjoy nice view of Sun moon lake and tea plant. I heard sometimes we can see mountain monkey. Workers are very kind and professional, One worker can speak Korean and we had a nice chat with her. Outside swimming pool is very nice and outside hot spring side. Morning buffet is also good to enjoy Taiwan food. I already booked a room on 12/14 to visit this hotel and moon lake hotel again.

This hotel is very close to the pier that is the starter point of our journey in sun moon lake. The staffs are good in English and very helpful during the trip and after we check out. We forget the jacket in the room and request them to send us back to the hotel in Taipei and they do it for us. That's a very appreciated service. Highly recommend. By the way, if your group have an elderly person, I recommend asking about the bathroom first because they have quite a high bathtub that may cause of falling.

We couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at Hu Yue, It is right at the pier. you get a full view of the sun moon lake without any building infront of you. the pier is not too busy. mostly the boat will just be parking there. The room is very basic. Nice big bed, clean bathroom. The pillow is a bit too soft for my liking. We got the corner room on 7th floor. It was huge! Have balcony and sitting area. Location is at Ita Thao pier, Its not the main pier where you arrive to sun moon lake but after seeing Shuishe Pier (where the bus drop you off) We much prefer Ita Thao area, Shuishe pier is very run down and touristy. Travelling from Shuishe to Ita thao is easy, there is a bus running every 30 mins that go from Shuishe pier and around the lake. We would get up in the morning have breakfast catch a bus to shuishe pier rent a bike and ride around the lake. take around 3 hrs. (we were going slow) and you can stop at visitor center for lunch. There is a big GIANT bike store there to rent the bike they closed onThursday. So we rent from small shop not far from them. Also GiANT bikes at cheaper rate. FOOD: hotel offer breakfast. Ham, sausage, bao, fried rice, congee with toppings, toasts and some fruits. Basic stuff. For lunch /dinner there's restaurants in Ita thao but nothing romantic. There is a cafe called Tea 18 nice little place to have your tea and kill 30 mins. Must try black tea ice-cream! Do your homework before you go of how to get there. Local dont speak english and information center speak 'okay' english.

The hotel has about nine rooms in total and ALL the rooms are facing sun moon lake with unobstructed view. The scenery is very compatible with other expensive hotels. The hotel is not in a very good condition as i think it's been operated for a period of time and its like a family run business, but the staff, the style is very nice if you are looking for just a relaxing trip. The mattress and the full height sliding doors are the most impressive!! They claim as the mattress is come from a brand which has a very high rated. (Unfortunately i forgot the brand name). When you sleep on the bed, you can just turn around and facing to the sun moon lake, watching the sunset..... For this price, i would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing trip, rather than luxury.

The hotel is a convenient boat ride from the Sun Moon Lake bus station. It is walking distance to the cable car, and right off the boat dock. The room and bedding is rather luxurious, with an excellent dinner and breakfast. We booked a lake view room and it has a jacuzzi, which is very nice after a long day hike around Sun Moon Lake. The service is excellent, and the staff are very nice and helpful. Although it is across the lake from the main bus station, it is a very convenient and nice boat ride from the Sun Moon lake bus drop off in the Nantou Information center.

We absolutely looooved our stay at the Blue Sky Bay B&B. The hotel's smartly furnished and designed with high quality interior. We experienced the best shower in Taiwan here. (all the kids voted Blue Bay B&B with the best shower head and water pressure). the staff were professional and so very friendly. We absolutely love Sun Moon Lake, what a beautiful place. We will certainly be staying at the Blue Sky Bay B&B again. The rate is reasonable, and it is close to all amenities. Highly recommended this place to anyone who is visiting Sun Moon Lake.

This is one of particular buildings in the Sun Moon Lake. It is a big wooden cottage built next to the Lake. It is highly recommended to choose the room with lake view. The room is spacious and with free Wi-Fi. It is amazing to enjoy the breakfast in the hotel restaurant facing the lake on the morning. The scene is really unforgettable. Be reminded that there is no elevator in this lovely hotel but the staff is very helpful so that it is not a problem. There is an outdoor car park near the main entrance of the hotel. Although there was several hours power cut when I stayed in this hotel due to typhoon, it did not change my view on the hotel. Oppositely, the power cut incident showed me the professionalism of the hotel staff. I am sure I will come back when I visit Sun Moon Lake again.

it was such a treat for the senses to stay at the lalu... calming, soothing, and quiet with every detail, from the architecture to the service. in our opinion, the best way to enjoy sun moon lake is from the massive patio of one of lalu's lakeview suites. things that stand out... our very warm welcome to the hotel nearly put me in tears by the time we were guided to our room to see the unbeatable view of the lake, music created especially for the hotel, the old bonsai tree on our patio, viewing and listening to the rain, very comfortable bed, borrowed art books from their library, hot bath overlooking lake from suite, cool dip in the heated infinity pool, delicious dinner at their western restaurant (we were told, headed by a canadian chef), a kind send off before we were shuttled back to the bus station.

we really like this hotel. the location is perfect, next to the ferry terminal. and not far from the intercity bus terminal which is right outside the sun moon lake visitor centre. the hotel building is relatively new and clean. the bedroom is quite spacious with unlimited hot and cold drinking water. the only thing was that staff cannot speak english. the hotel serves good food.

This is actually homestay, not hotel, but the standard can beat 3 star hotel standard, even more. Is newly operated from Sep 2018, so everything look very new. Good location, lot of food and souvenir shop within walking distance. Breakfast is freshly cook to you when you attend to cafe, not those hotel buffet style. The taste is highly recommended! If you come to Sun Moon Lake, this is a great choice of stay.

When I book this hotel I do not know much abot it, the picture represented it well, I chose it for value. When I arrived at he Sun moon lake, I feels disappointed that it was so far away from the bus station, It is located in another area across the lake, a lady officer suggest to take the boat across the lake and I did, it was a painfull walk from the baus station to the harbour, take the boat across, arrive at Itathao harbour, then another painful walk along ascending road to the Hotel. In fact I should not go this way, the best to do is to use the local bus from the bus station after arriving at SunMoon Lake, and the local bus will bring you just next to this hotel, within only 2 min walk on a plain road. Itathao is the name of the tourist area across the lake, this is a very nice area best for travellers, and there is a night market within the area, not so crowded, so very suitable foe a nice and relax stay. Near to the beach, and and path way to many area of interest, food market, cable car station, and the harbour. Near bus service to scenic spots and the lake itself. the Itathao hotel is recommended to budget travellers to enjoy. I suggest to include an intro to Itathao, and a "how to get there".

The hotel is located at the opposite end of the main Sun Moon Lake visitor centre. You will need to take a boat over to Ita Thao where the hotel is situated. It's conveniently located to the ropeway station and the overrated Aboriginal cultural village. The drawback is that check-in time is only at 3pm and check-out time is 11am the next day! Moreover, there are very limited eating places in Ita Thao and most are quite expensive. So, do prepare to either 1) bring your own food; or 2) buy cup noodles at the 7-11 convenient store nearby. Otherwise, the hotel is clean, value for money and the staff are friendly. Also, there are dense fog that engulf the lake quite often and if you are rushing for your next bus out of Sun Moon Lake to the HSR station, please do remember to give yourself a couple of hours advance notice.

I really liked the look and feel of the hostel. Basically 2 rooms per floor, one opposite the other (non-connecting). Room view of lake was nice to have, bathroom was great, albeit dim. In-room wifi worked well. Reception got me a ride to Alishan via taxi at fixed cost. Overall, not the best place to stay in Sun Moon Lake as it is on the quieter side of the lake but the hostel really makes up for it. Loved the place.

We stayed there one night during our visit to the Sun Moon Lake. The hotel breakfast is on the top floor of the building and it gives an unblocked view of Sun Moon Lake. It was very beautiful. An added point with this hotel is that the ferry jetty is just 2 mins walk and the Hotel sells concession tickets. We were there for one a day, thus unable to go jetty hopping, the ferry ticket is a single day good for use. Due to time contraint, we just took the ferry around the Sun Moon Lake and did not alight which about 45 mins start to end.

My family stayed at the Youth Activity Center for two nights. Even though the facilities were a little dated, but the location was excellent and the price was good. The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway Station was right across the street. Along the gondola ride up to Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, we had a breath-taking aerial view of the beautiful Sun Moon Lake. The visit to the village was yet another high-light of our day. It was eye-opening for my college daughter. There was also a theme park that looked fun but we did not have enough time to try. There was also a bicycle shop right at the entrance of the Youth Activity Center. We rented bikes and rode around the lake. The route was nicely paved and not much slope so it was quite easy. There are lots of vista points along the way for photo lovers. For dinner, we found a great pizza place about 5 minutes walk down a small path across the street from the entrance. It is near the camp site. The bread and pizza were both delicious. The service of the Youth Activity Center was excellent, too. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The cafeteria staff were very nice and flexible. The maintenance team was also very efficient when we needed help. In addition, during our stay, there was an incident occurred to one of my family members that we needed extra help urgently. Their staff provided timely and gracious help which we deeply appreciated.

Bamboo Rock Garden is a hotel away from the busiest areas of Sun Moon Lake. Staff are the best. Rooms are spacious. The view is breathtaking. You can get a bike for free from the hotel, some of them with child seat, and explore the lake. However, it is difficult and expensive to hire a taxi. I would suggest you to rent a car from the airport in Taipei, for more convenience, especially if you have babies or toddlers. Breakfast is basic, but good. The F&B could be better in this hotel, but they have English menu and the food is good. Only Chinese food though. There is a small coffee shop with waffles, toasts, tea and coffee. I would definitely come back to this place.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff was very helpful before our arrival and during our stay. We liked the rooms (family rooms + 3 double bed rooms) very clean and spacious. The bathroom was big as well, with a shower cabin next to the bathtube. The decoration is mindful. Good quality of sheets and towels. We were at the 6th floor (elevator) 4 rooms per floor. 2 rooms with view on the vegetation. 2 other rooms with a street view (very calm neighborhood) The building has 9 floors + great view from the rooftop at 10th floor. Supermarket 7 11 and family mart are next block. Few minutes walk. Very close to the port and street food in less than 5 min walk. Ita Thao is a good location for visiting sun moon lake. This town is very convenient to visit butterfly garden and Formosa aboriginal culture village without car. It has potentials and more construction works are on progress to develop the town. I highly recommend this place.

As a frequent traveller, I've been staying in variety hotels and hostels before but there was never one that made such a great impact in my staying experience. My first arrival at Mei Jen House, greeted with warm welcome by the Host and she had the itinerary planned out for me during my stay @ Sun Moon Lake. The host, Mei Jen, is very passionate about her job as well as her minsu. She encouraged us to do alot of things which we did not plan at first but luckily we took her advise because everything turned out to be an unforgettable one. One episode was that we actually lost one of our tour package tickets along the way there and we were lost don't what to do. We consulted Mei Jen for help and she's the only host that I've encountered who was willing to go the extra miles to help us out for a solution. We are forever grateful for what she did for us. Room was really clean and neat, breakfast served was simple yet warming in the heart. If you're intending to explore Sun Moon Lake, this place is highly recommended for you. It might not be the 5 stars hotel you're looking for but definitely the 5 stars experience that Mei Jen's able to bring. One last thing to take note: please accept the offer from Mei Jen if she do mention to bring you to see the sunrise the next morning. It's going to be as early as 5am but trust me, it's all worth it.

After full 4 days of travelling around Taiwan, we decided [[we booked in advanced before we arrived from recommendation on website in Thailand]] to spend a night in Sun Moon Lake and which hotel??? The given is, we want a hotel with bathtub to relax with a good price and Harobr Elite Hotel is a good choice, plus location not far from where we would get of the bus (with big luggage) so its quite easy although around the Shueishe pier not much interesting as the Ita thao pier.

Granted that the picturesque locations are all occupied by the traditional hotels, this minsu (B&B) was a gem of money well-spent. Extended my budget for this but had unexpected returns through the Sun Moon Lake experience curated by the hosts. 1. Local breakfast: homely and locally-sourced ingredients breakfast 2. Warm and cozy aesthetics down to the smallest detail: the choice of Grohe showers to the space design to the smell of the soap 3. Possibly the best location for the best sceneries in Sun Moon Lake 4. Peaceful atmosphere: no noisy kids * bonus: the 6am bicycle tour (no commission earned by hosts) led by Mr Wang to the scenic spots to experience the spirit and essence of Sun Moon Lake was an invaluable bonus. The hosts understood the peaceful spirit of the place, and sought to create a conducive and mindful experience for their guests seeking a connection and rest.

I recommend this place especially for those travelling to Tataka, Shang Dong Pu where they will spend their day before hiking Mt. Yushan (Mt. Jade). This place in Sun Moon Lake is less than 5 minutes walk from Shueishe Visitor Center where bus going to Alishan is waiting. The room is complete with shampoo conditioner and body wash. Also there are dental supplies for your hygiene. There were room slippers provided. You just need to forgive that the owner or keeper cannot speak english but over all this place is worth your money.

Having never been to Sun Moon Lake, and hoping to enjoy the scenery without too many other tourists, this inn was PERFECT! Not only was it clean, cute (with many whimsical owl decorations) and comfortable, it also was located in the small town of Ita Thao. This turned out to be exactly where we were happy: not nearly as much commerce or people as Shuishe, the larger town on the lake. The staff at Yuan Su could not have been nicer. They inquired each day about our plans, and offered guidance as needed. They were attentive to our needs. They were friendly without being intrusive. They also have a very cute little dog. The location even within Ita Thao is away from the waterfront, so the street is quiet. Yet it is just a few steps away from the lakeside walkway. And we had a view of the lake from our room! Room even had a balcony. Bonus! We stayed during the week, and yet still the place felt relatively empty. It deserves to be full. Try this place out!

Although I am from Taiwan, I would like to share my own experience in English for those people who are willing to go traveling in Nantou(Sun Moon Lake). Here, the owner will prepare a lot of delicious food as your breakfast. Moreover, He will kindly provide you the information about Sun Moon Lake. He is always with big passion with everyone. The best of this hotel is its location. It's very easy to reach the tour places, such as shopping area, cable car and wharf. If you really don't know how to get there, the kind owner would like to help you anytime. Don't be shy and try to ask :) With the beautiful landscape and nice people here, you will definitely have fun here. By the way, the breakfast is super delicious and a lot :P
