Extremely clean, comfortable, and affordable”
I didn't have any expectations for the Sunbee hotel--it just seemed like it would be a pretty standard hotel and room. However, upon arrival, my friend and I (two American girls in their mid-20s) were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very modern and stylish, but still comfortable and inviting. The room was very large and had a big screen tv (not that we really spent any time watching it). The bathroom had a separate toilet and an adjoining room with a large tub and a great shower (amazing water pressure). It was so close to two Metro stops (Anguk and Jonggak) and a short walk to Insadong for touristy souvenir shops. Great restaurants around as well. Breakfast was minimal but still good with access to their cafe as well. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful, letting us leave our luggage there while we traveled for a few days. They had high speed wifi which you could access in the hotel without needing a passkey. We stayed at the Sunbee at the beginning of our trip and then again upon returning to Seoul a week later. It was such a lovely experience, and we have already agreed to stay at the Sunbee when we go back to Seoul. While the Sunbee is in a great location--walking distance to palaces, shopping, restaurants--it is a bit difficult to find as it is on a tiny side alley off of a main street. If you stay there, you can tell your cab driver to drop you off at the Center Mark hotel as it is next door (our cab driver was unable to find Sunbee Hotel on his GPS). In conclusion, I recommend Sunbee Hotel 100%!!
Value for Money at a Superb Location”
Sunbee Hotel is over a decade old now, so it shows a few signs of its age, but it is clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Their English language skills were fine for us New Zealanders to communicate well with them. Sunbee’s Café provides guests with a complementary fusion breakfast, which is all you need to start your day exploring Seoul. Sunbee hotel has a SUPERB location. Within 5 – 10 minutes walking distance is: 1. Jonggak subway station, from which the whole city of Seoul is accessible. 2. A whole long street (Ujeongguk-ro 2-gil) of great Korean restaurants. 3. Seoul’s central tourist information centre (in Cheonggyecheon Street). 4. Several interesting historical sites, including Bosingak Jong and Tapgol Park. 5. The famous Insadong market. If we return to Seoul, we will be happy to stay at Sunbee Hotel again.
The staff at the sunbee hotel really make your stay in Insadong easy. This hotel is great for first time travelers to Seoul who are looking to stay near the traditional district. The hotel is adjacent to the Insadong traditional street and within walking distance of local party areas as well as some of Seoul's famous Castle Grounds. The staff were really friendly and were able to converse easily in English. They helped us book a tour to the DMZ as well as provided us with any info we needed. They even upgraded our room free of charge. The hotel itself is down an alley so it's a bit difficult to find but once you get there it's easy to remember the way. Again, I would highly recommend the Sunbee to first time visitors.
Dear Zach Thank you for your recent feedback on your stay. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and I hope you experienced many things in Seoul. I will pass on your kind comments to our staff and we promise to provide better service next time. I look forward to welcoming you back to the Sunbee hotel in the future. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us. I wish you all the best. Best wishes, Sunbee hotel
Great location & very friendly service.”
We had a wonderful time staying at Sunbee Hotel. We could walk to Insadong alleys for sourveniers and tried some tasty local street food. There were also numerous choices of restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. Namdaemon Market & Dongdaemon Market were also within walking distance from Sunbee Hotel. The rooms we chose were very comfortable & big enough for 3. The bathroom was big with shower & a bathtub. We will come back to this hotel if we visit Seoul again.
Centrally located hotel ”
My son and I visited most of the temples surrounding our hotel. Easy 20 minute walk to the farthest temple. Citizens of Seoul very helpful when trying to figure out the expansive Seoul Metro system. We used the metro extensively to get to places across the Han river. The staff was very, very helpful when I asked questions about tourist spots around The Sunbee hotel. Key was especially helpful. In fact I was able to use the washer/dryer unit that was available to guests during our stay. The breakfast was spartan. I would have appreciated hot cereal as they only had cold cereal. Also, they ran out of yogurt one morning. But McDonald's is just around the corner from the Sunbee so I had breakfast there on a number of days. Otherwise, the stay was perfect!
Really like this hotel.”
We have stayed at the SunBee Hotel many times. This trip because of late reservations we also stayed at the CenterMark and the Aventree. Both of those hotels are new and quite nice. The Aventree is pricier. Both are clean and more formal than the SunBee. Although the rooms are smaller than the SunBee I would still rate both hotels high. Why do I like the SunBee better? I feel relaxed at the SunBee. It is just as clean. It's breakfast has greatly improved and is now quite good. The breakfast at the other two is a premium and adds to the price considerably. But the bottom line is at the SunBee I can relax and feel more comfortable.
Comfortable and relaxing.”
This was the 3rd times I stayed in Sunbee Hotel during my holidays in Seoul. I booked 2 Deluxe Double Rooms and have been upgraded to Deluxe Twin Rooms. The room is clean and having big bed and bathroom. The breakfast have more variety compare to the last 2 times I stayed. I really enjoy the breakfast with my family. We shop at Insaedong every night after a whole day out. We felt comfortable and relaxing during our stay in Sunbee Hotel. I will highly recommend to my friends.
Fantastic base to explore Seoul”
This is my second visit to Seoul so I knew exactly which area I should be staying in to make the most of my time. This hotel is at Insadong, one of Seoul's traditional streets, lined with restaurants and traditional handicraft stores. There are 2 subway stops within easy walking distance, although we used taxis as they are quite reasonable and saved us time trying to figure out how to get to specific places. We walked to Bukchon, Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung. Took a taxi from Myeongdong as we were tired at the end of the day. Other than the fantastic location, the hotel itself is well designed for comfort. Our twin room was spacious, the bed, pillows and duvet very comfortable. We liked the very small ante-room where we could leave our shoes. Everything worked in our room - if it doesn't, you just need to ask the reception how it work. Breakfast here is pretty simple and straightforward, but there are so many options along Insadong. And one more plus - the hotel is near the Insadong stop of the airport limousine bus. KRW 15,000 per person each way. Very convenient.
all around great hotel”
The Sunbee is very reasonably priced. For such a reasonable price, you get everything you need - internet, big screen tv, fridge, and large comfortable room. I have stayed at the Sunbee twice and will definitely return. It is also in a great location, the Insadong area which is a tourist must-go. It is also close to many government establishments, public transportation, shopping areas, and restaurants
Perfect choice in frames of "price and quality". I've enjoined my holidays with Sunbee, perfect location for Seoul - it's about 12 min walk to metro line 2 and 15 min to shoping. Hotel staff is always polite and ready to help. Some question with breakfast and room cleaning but it's accetable taking into account other pluses. I'd recomend sunbee to my friends for Seoul visit.
Excellent location, wonderful staff!”
The Sunbee Hotel was perfect! It's a bit tucked away in Insadong, which really makes it feel like a hidden gem. We were just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Insadong Street, and we ate the best meal we've ever had at Min's Club (just a short walk away). The staff were wonderful and helpful in every way, and they make a delicious breakfast!
Spacious, pleasant rooms and helpful staff”
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay at Sunbee Hotel. The Korean style room had an extremely comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was large, modern and clean. The main ways it appeared to be Korean rather than European were sliding window screens - good for blackout but could not be fully opened for much of a view - and the low table with cushioned floor seating - which we did not use. With hot and humid weather during our stay, the room A/C was very effective. We enjoyed being so close to a major subway station and many sites of interest. In particular we were impressed by how helpful the staff were and the English speaking man on reception, Kunwoo Kim, went out of his way to help us negotiate car rental and with travel advice. We highly recommend the Sunbee!!
Great base for exploring Seoul”
We chose this hotel due to a friend's recommendation. It was absolutely perfect for our two-day layover in Seoul. The Insadong neighborhood is a great place to try Koren foods and for souvenir shopping. The hotel staff was very helpful in arranging taxis and making restaurant recommendations. They also loaned us plug adapters to charge our phones. The rooms and bedding were very clean. The bath is big and comfortable. As we were recovering from jet-lag, the blackout blinds were perfect for daytime sleeping (but only in some rooms).
Great Location! ”
We stayed in the Sunbee for one night and really enjoyed it. It is in the heart of Insadong a really cool shopping area and really close to the subway. The only downside was that we could not figure out how the heater worked and it was very hot in our room. We ended up having to turn the air conditioner on which is crazy for December. Other than that we had no complaints about this hotel.
Good location and reasonable cost ”
It was my first stay at Sunbee Hotel. I prefer to stay at the area and reserved this hotel becuase my favourite hotels were more expensive than expected this time. It may be hard to find the hotel if you are not familiar with the area and it is very dark on the alley at night. The room is fairly large and simple. Fortunately I stayed at the newly refurbished room and it looks cleaner and newer (though the paint and glue smell annoyed me a lot). The breakfast is included in my reservation plan but I recommend you to enjoy breakfast at the local restaurant (yes, you can enjoy breakfast at Insadong, anyway.)
Excellent location and very nice staff.”
The Sunbee is a little hard to find but it's location near Insadong street was excellent. The staff was exceptionally helpful and a pleasure to interact with. We would definitely stay at the Sunbee again.
Sunbee hotel is very close to Insadong walking street and very easy to get to subway station (Jonggak station and Anguk station) Room is so comfy for 3 persons!
Great accommodations for the price”
We had a great 5 night stay at the Sunbee. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. Room size was great. Although there were no drawers in the room for storage. Great being next to Insadong for shopping and eating. Breakfast was limited.
A wonderful value at the price, great location”
This was our second stay at the Sunbee--we love it! The neighborhood, Insadong, is loaded with things to see, fantastic restaurants, terrific street life. This is an economy hotel but it feels like it costs way more.
Great location, fantastic staff.”
We had a fantastic. stay at the sunbee. This location is central to everything and in a quiet pocket in the middle of a bustling shopping/art area. Rooms are spacious, good water pressure in the bathroom. Excellent staff with great English skills who bend over backwards to help. I will return next time I am in Seoul.
