The worst hotel experience I have EVER had!!!”
Awful. Worst customer service I've ever experienced, rude, mean, went into our room without permission and moved our belongings, words can't express how much I hated this experience.

Just for the location”
We booked a twin room but after arriving, they said only double bed room remained - So why you let us book a twin room?? No discount or anything then. Hotel was so noisy during national holidays with people screaming in the corridors in the night and even ringing at our door. Also the street in front of the hotel was continuously noisy until 10 / 11 pm. Breakfast is in another building with some limited choice but taste was OK. Best thing is the location near from beach, near from bicycle/motorbike hiring place and also bus. Around have many places to eat.

Past it's prime”
Was booked to stay here as part of a Ha Long Bay package & decided to stay on as a matter of convenience. Hotel looks care worn & showing it's age. Lots of newer hotels have been built facing the harbour which mean this hotel is no longer No. 1. Wifi is only available in the gloomy lobby & breakfast is provided in a reception house a couple of doors up the street. Staff are friendly enough but English is limited.

We are never going back. The staff was so unfriendly. Our room was tiny and dirty and had no Wi-Fi, and we had to go to a restaurant next door for breakfast wich consisted of instant noodles!

Avoid this Hotel!”
Booked 4 nights in this hotel hoping for weather to clear around the islands. Quality was very poor. Although we didn’t book a ‘VIP’ room it’s where they put us and should have been better. It was a very dark room at the rear of the hotel – two windows, one with a sideways partial view of the sea, the other covered with a caged in fire escape, both windows with a dark tint and heavy curtains so no light. No hot water when we arrived and they didn’t believe us when it was reported. Told them again next day and they sent someone to fix the heater. There was supposed to be wired internet in the room but we could only get wi-fi in reception. No room safe. Beds were hard. Breakfast was pathetic, we had to go to the hotel two doors up the road, tablecloths were dirty, there was little selection – basically fried eggs or bread and jam, tea or coffee, no juice. One morning (I think when there were no other guests in the hotel) we were shown to a different dining room and seated at the only (metal topped) table without a tablecloth. The photo of this hotel shows the rear of the building with the whole fire escape airbrushed out. We should have got our money back - Don’t stay there!

Good hotel for the area”
This hotel was fine for a 2 night stay. It's definitely aging and could do with a bit of a renovation. Cat Ba doesn't really have that many great hotels in general so the Sunflower One was actually ok considering our budget and the choice of hotels. We were on the tenth floor so had a nice view of the harbour. Staff were helpful too which was a plus. Breakfast was basic and located in another building two doors down which was confusing the first morning as no one had told us that!

Quiet with great views”
cat. ba is the busy hub of south halong bay, and is full of tourists. sunflower 1 was a clean quiet repose from the streets with all amenities, good breakfast and pleasant staff, though only the occasional english speaker. some rooms have great views of the harbor. ther is a sunflower 2 but it is up a steep hill far from the centre

Very Average Hotel”
The hotel is old. I was given a room under repair and had to be issued with a new room. To get breakfast, you had to go to a different building (not part of the hotel). The hotel is very tired. Service was not good. A band nearby kept me awake until midnight.

Such a lovely hotel, nice staff (and manager!), very helpful, and in a good location. For room on the upper floor the view just stunning facing the bay. Another good point is this hotel well maintained.

lovely small hotel by the bay area. if you stay on the high floor room, the view just great, facing the bay. free wi-fi, and pretty fast! the offer tour with a great fee, another thing is the staff especially the manager very helpful to the guests needs.

Bad hotel, bad service.”
Cat Ba Island is very nice to travel by motorbike, you can easily rent one and go everywhere. Take at least one full day for visit caves near and inside the natural park. Bring with u mosquito lotion!!!

had a great stay here - very good location right in the middle of cat ba town. close to everything. the staff in the reception spoke ok english and was very keen on helping and explaining things. breakfast buffet was ok - nothing special but better than many other asian hotels.

It was my first time in Catba Island and the hotel was very easy located once we got there by the ferry. I expected a bit more of the viewing from the room and other thing for the price of a VIP room, however it wasn't that great. The room is fine but the service a bit poor.
