Far away from the Grand Canyon and if you don't have a 4x4 vehicle, any local tourist guide will charge you an outrageous amount of money to go anywhere. This is not a practical location.

Great location but freezing”
The location is at an amazing place. You get to see more than you ask for of the grand canyon. The road is not paved hence it is very hard to get, make sure you reach there before sunset. On the way still has lot to see so its worth it. It gives both great view of sunset and sunrise. We went during winter time, Jan 2018. The place had small heater which wasn’t quite enough. So better take every warm clothes you have in your household. We first booked the tent but it wasnt quite a good option for winter, hence Charlet is a much better choice. The staff are great, they are very very nice. Overall I would definitely recommend the place to my friend. But please have bigger heater on winter time!

It was an amazing and beautiful trip.”
It was really chilled all the time. You need to travel proper clothing and enough wood for fire. The resort was unable to provide any wood for fire. You should carry enough food with you.

Rightly located in this Beautiful place with excellent 360 degrees views. ”
It was a difficult drive to reach to the resort with graded road but once reached the location is perfectly placed with an awesome view all around the surrounding. Temperatures during 2st week of December was 10 degree at day and 7-8 degree during night and clouds floating around the resort looks stunning. Recommended for a group trip can enjoy a lot.

When we checked in, we asked the price for breakfast and dinner, the reception lady, black one, told us the room rate includes the breakfast and dinner (both are 6 Rials), but the lunch is additional 6 Rials. We even reconfirmed with her before dinner but she still remained the same answer. Therefore, since it is included, we had dinner and breakfast there. But when we checked out, exactly the same lady want to charge us 4 rials for breakfast and 6 rials for dinner for each adult. She put the blame on another reception lady telling us wrong information. But we clearly knew she is the one playing all these tricks. The quality of breakfast is poor and overpriced. The dinner is bit better but still overpriced. Not recommend at all. They confirmed to accept credit card but eventually they find some excuses to take cash only, which they could take 4% additional gain on exchange rate between AED/RIAL and avoid 3% commission to the bank. Very dishonest hotel and we will never visit it again. (Maybe it's that reception lady's personal behavior but we cannot see any manager to complain when we checked out.)

Beautiful Location”
We went to enjoy the mountains and explore and hike. We got the Chalet and were happy with it except for the beds, which are very firm. Bring sleeping bag, or air mattress and you will be much more comfortable unless you like a rock hard mattress. Also in cooler months and extra blanket would be useful, or use the small space heater which warms to room sufficiently. Beyond that the staff is very friendly and the manager Salem is super helpful and will also guide you on hikes if requested. We used the camp fire ares by our Chalet, each has one and cooked over it two nights, and really enjoyed the evenings relaxing after busy days exploring the mountains. We checked out the Jebel Shams Heights resort and the Jebel Shams resort both near the canyon. While I think the latter is a much nicer facility, Heights is much the same as Sunrise, however their location is more full of tourists and trash and busy, while Sunrise is by itself, no cell reception once you get to the resort however on most roads leading to it cell service was fine. We felt the mountains and canyons around Sunrise much more beautiful and colorful than the other resorts. We will return, and explore more as there is so much to see. If you go and like to climb ask Salem to show you the way or guide you up the mountain next to the resort, and go up and over to the right and you can stand right on the edge of a huge gorge. Really amazing climbs and views and right at your back door.

Cool place with a lot of mountaineers area to explore. Facility is very cost effective with camp fire & barbeque possible. There is also a restaurant (reasonable). Journey to reach the location is truly challenging and adventurous.

Off Road Vehicles needed to get to the resort, not mentioned anywhere. Don't take first exit sign to the resort very hard road and dangerous not to mentioned you will be in no man land! Continue straight up the road to Jabal Al Shams and new signs for Sunrise resort, I wouldn't call it resort. Tents are in very bad shape and locks are very primitive. Take the chalet instead for an extra 10 Riyals. No fire wood!

Lovely trip!”
Spent two nights at Sunrise as part of my trip around Oman and had an absolutely lovely time there. The drive was a little tricky, definitely recommend a 4x4, but quite exciting to do. Had excellent service from all the staff and went on a walk (about 3-4 hours) around the small canyon, which is well marked out. The second day I drove round to Jebel Shams and did the balcony walk, which I'd also recommend.

Right in the middle of the mountains
OK for one night; food was poor, camp fire was fun for the children but overcharged for what it is. Also kid above 3 years old is considered adult so it's way too expensive for what offered The mountain hike was fun but too long for young children, took us almost 5 hours for what was estimated for 2 hours.
