Excellent place to stay!”
The location for this place is great if you are looking for convenient access to the airport, which is very nice if you have a short stay in Johannesburg or an early morning flight. Being able to use the free airport shuttle rather than paying to take a taxi upon arrival was also a definite plus. On the morning of my arrival I found out that I was going to be getting to Johannesburg earlier than planned, so I called ahead and asked for a tour recommendation for the afternoon. They gave me a couple of good options to choose from and arranged for me to meet with the guide at the hotel soon after I checked in. It was all very helpful. The rooms are lovely and clean. The little extras that I found upon arrival - the hair dryer and the instant coffee - were much appreciated. The staff here is warm and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I would recommend Sunrock Guesthouse to anybody planning to visit Johannesburg.

Awesome place, don't miss it!”
Stayed at Sunrock for 3 nights in July 2021 and i had a wonderful time. Surrounded by large trees and and a swimming pool it's like a little oasis in the middle of Jo'burg. I arrived late at 9:45pm which no problem and the staff greeted my warmly showing me around. The rooms were clean, spacious and equipped with everything one could need....including good heaters, which is important as it was quite chilly in SA at that time of year. There's a real friendly vibe about the place, the bar runs an honesty system, the staff will prepare a meal in the evening and invite you to join, the guys at reception will help you print your travel docs, and are always good chat too. To cap it off a free ride to the airport from the owner is always appreciated! All in all 10/10, a place not to be missed!

Located near the airport it is a perfect place for a night before or/and after the flight. Airport shuttle is included. We loved great, spacious room, comfy bathroom with bath tub and shower, filling, tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.

Amazing stay”
Stayed here for one night before heading to the airport. Good room, clean, nice bed. Nice bar, staff and good dinner. Hotel has a free shuttle from and to the airport. Coming back next week when I have got another night in Joburg.

Fabulous place ”
Great location if you need to be close to the airport. This place was clean, well managed, friendly staff, made to order eggs for breakfast, dinner option, bar, free transportation to/from the airport, pool, pool table … on an on. We were surprised at just how nice this place was. Great value!!

Exceptional”
My wife and I stayed at Sun Rock for a one night layover. It was a wonderful experience and it made our travels a lot less stressful being transported to and from the airport. The staff was delightful, the place was decorated in a way that made it feel like home and the breakfast and dinner was fantastic! We would definitely stay here again.

The Sunrock experience must be put into perspective - you are not getting a 5-star hotel, but you are also not left wanting for much, especially when the price is factored in. The room is perfectly adequate with a comfortable bed, en-suite with shower, desk and cupboard/hanging space. My room had no aircon and made do with a ceiling fan. Wifi was good enough for Netflix and usual work applications. The shared facilities are exceptional - clean pool, great bar/restaurant (I didn't eat there at all so can't comment on the food), well-equipped gym, and a range of massage services. There is a great shuttle service to/from the airport. The location, while close to the airport and convenient from that perspective, is otherwise pretty dodgy. But Sunrock is a quiet and comfortable oasis behind its high walls. Worth giving a try.

Great spot for a JNB stopover”
I had an overnight in JNB before connecting the next day on my flight home and booked Sunrock for my stay. The free airport shuttle was timely and convenient, and the driver made a stop so I could pick up some food because dinner at the guesthouse had already finished. Sunrock was also very accommodating about late checkout, and a workout at the fitness center and an hourlong massage on premises helped pass the time before my evening flight.

Great for overnight stay from the airport”
Location was very convenient, and the transfers to/from airport very efficient. Rooms were clean and comfortable. They gave me a breakfast bag to cover for me leaving for an early shuttle.
