Sunset chill”
If you want a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life, then this the place to come to. It is so peaceful and relaxing. From the moment you arrive you can feel your bloody pressure drop. The accommodation is clean and has everything you need. You are left to enjoy your surroundings, whether you want to cook at the accommodation or not the choice is yours. I would highly recommend Sunset Valley.

Dear Helena and David, thank you so much for taking your time to give us such a wonderful review. We are delighted that you have a great and relaxing time. Hope to see you again before you head back to the UK later this year.
Peaceful villa with a beautiful view”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Valley! We had a lovely Malay style villa (Garden villa) right next to the pool, with a beautiful view over rice paddies. The place is truly peaceful eventhough there are several villas on the estate. You will need a scooter to move around (which is wonderful) or you can use the Grab app. Easy! The owners and staff are very accommodating and they run even a small convenience store you can buy snacks and supply for your breakfast. Bonus: there are cute kitties and dogs on the estate. Highly recommended!

Great location, poor service/facility ”
Location is amazing. Quiet, great garden and very nice pool. But be advised you need a scooter, car or grab, because there is no restaurant within walking distance. Staff was friendly, we could store our big suitcase for 3 days . Even though it's an eco friendly place, there are a few minus points. 1. Aircon is not included. (I searched for accommodation with air-conditioning, so it should be included). But apparently there is a small note in the listing that says there is a fee if you want to use it. Aircon is definitely needed. Tip: make a listing with and without aircon. 2. The bed is terrible, worst bed we ever slept in. Two single beds, with a mattress topper that was hard like stone. 3. They will only clean if you stay long. Normally we don't like to criticize, but considering the price, we were very disappointed. It doesn't have to be luxury at all, but it needs to be comfortable. Not recommended.

Bad service. Bad mosquito net. Bad house design. ”
Living in Thailand, a hot country. I'm used to traveling around and air conditioning comes included in the price. Never have I had a place without aircon. To my surprise they do not include aircon and you have to pay 25 MYR extra for it. This was not mentioned when booking. So a big disappointment. Then when we did use the aircon, it sounded like a tractor. The doors would not close, so we had to lock all doors to be able to close them. However the biggest issue was falling debris from the trees above, because it is a metal roof, it sounded like your in a tank being shot at. Every half hour something would fall and wake us up. But when we complained about it, the owner's answer was, I never had any complaints, instead of ow sorry lets see what the issue is and see what we can do to fix it. As a resort, I do expect the owner to ensure the guests are happy. The owner didn't care! While asking for a discount to move to a different place. The owner did not want to do it, because they could

The extra charge for the Air Conditioning is mentioned on the Agoda website. Our heritage original Malay houses which are between 60 and 180 years old have been kept in its original state with open louvers and strong ceiling fans to ensure the flow or air to keep the houses cool. For the majority of our guests this is sufficient and they never use air conditioning. To reduce the use of air conditioning is also part of the environmentally friendly concept we follow in Sunset Valley. We indeed never had complaints about the noise of 'falling debris' from the trees before nor did we have any from subsequent guests in the Gate House. We are very proud of our many trees we were able to keep and save in Sunset Valley which are the home of many birds, squirrels and other beautiful wildlife found here in our garden. Nevertheless we apologize that you felt inconvenienced by the noise of the forest and we did our best to address your issue by facilitating your move to another one of our houses
Fantastic Experiance at Sunset Valley”
We booked Sunset Valley after reading other reviews about the holiday cottages and I can honestly say that the experience we had far exceeded our expectations. David and Gudrun were extremely helpful and very friendly and went out of their way to assist us in booking excursions and trips around the Island. Sunset Valley is in a fantastic spot just far enough away to be peaceful but not so remote that you cant go and enjoy the action that Lankawi has to offer. All the houses have great views over the rice fields, and are very well maintained and comfortable. One of the best things about Sunset valley is that its not over developed and often you find that you have the pool to yourself and your not struggling to find a sun lounger. We took several trips to some of the 5star hotels on Langkawi to visit friends or have lunch which was very nice but we always felt happy about returning "Home" to the peace at Sunset Valley, there are some amazing 5 star resorts on Langkawi but I would choose Sunset Valley over any of them it was so good and I would love to go back one day

Home away from home”
This is the second time we stay at Sunset Valley Holiday Houses. Gudrun and David made us feel very comfortable and helped us arrange a suitable adventure trip with our young children. The setting is tranquil with beautiful views over rice fields. The houses are spacious and clean surrounded by lots of space for the children to run around in and play with the two very friendly cats and three dogs. We are already looking forward to our next visit soon!

Cozy, Anazing, close to Nature ”
It was our last stop after 3 weeks of vacation. The Sunset Valley Holiday Houses where the best accommodation during that time. The owners and the staff were really kind at any time. We are sure when ever we come back to Langkawi we will stay at this "hidden" treasure.

Lovely stay with an amazing view!”
We just stayed 7 days at Sunset Valley (Paddy House) and can completely recommend this home stay. We really enjoyed the surroundings, the view and the quietness - and even with a pool - it's like a paradise on earth. Our Paddy House was perfect for us two and origin from Langkawi. Due the house design an air conditioner is not necessary. To get around, you can easily take a Grabcar (similar to a taxi) or rent a scooter. Gudrun and David were lovely hosts. They live in the main house and were always helpful.

Peaceful, tranquillity!”
We a a really relaxing stay in the Farmers House for 4 nights. Sunset Valley is a lovely place where you feel at home in your own Malay House. The location is away from the beach and towns but this is to its advantage as it has a pool and bar area and you can hire a car or taxi via the owner Gudrun who looked after our every need. There is a small food/drink store on the site where you can top up with essentials of food, water, beer and wine! If you take a taxi into town/beach take one of the Sunset Valley business cards so you can tell the taxi driver where to go in oder to get back. A, good reference is the Makam Mahsari Tomb. We loved our stay here and would thoroughly recommend it for the discerning traveller who likes peace and tranquility.

Excellent to explore the island and its beaches”
We stayed here for 8 nights with our two children (5 and 7). The great thing of this place is the location: At the edge of the rice padi's, with a big lawn and a clean nice pool (with very little chlorine). The houses have been relocated from around Malaysia and have a veranda outside as well as plenty space inside. We stayed in the Farmer's house. The place is about 100 m off a small through road, so no trouble with traffic (except for the local kids doing some motor racing in the distance in the early evening). We rented a car, driving is very easy on the island. Supermarkets are accessible within a 15 minute drive (you will usually find one on the way back home from the beaches or a day out). They also stock the bare necessities such as bread, butter, jams, noodles and beer. The houses are old Malay style, so they have natural air con (open spaces between roof and walls. This means that you do get some flying creatures in your house, but this is not an issue. Mosquito nets are provided and work well. At night you hear all the animals of the jungle around the house, which we found fun. In short very good for people like us who like this, but not so good for those who want a 5 start resort with aircon and a tv. Good wifi. Tip (nothing to do with the plae: When going to Pantai Cenang (Beach), do ask the locals there whether there are jelly fish, as there might be many. We found the northern beaches best (Tanjung Rhu and especially Pantai Tengkorak). MAke sure to have lunch at Sirti Fathima, which is very close by, for really good local food for 7RM including drink.

Lovely relaxing stay”
we loved it here! so glad we booked. it was rainy season which meant we had the place almost to ourselves even though we only booked the night before. the paddy house itself is beautiful and very charming, and David and gudrun were very helpful. my only suggestion for improvement would be a new mattress! if we ever return to langkawi we'll be back.

Brings back memories of Kampung Days”
The stay was great..Just nice. The owners were friendly and helpful showing us around the place and even their own home. Each house has its own history and special features. I hopw they wont do it up too much. Will definitely make this a must stay for future Langkawi visits.

fantastic stay, exceeded our expectations!”
you need to be prepared to self drive and not eat in the hotel, but otherwise this is a fantastic place. David and Gudrun do a great job, are very service oriented and have created a really paradise like environment. Good pool with BBQ area, nice views, true malaysian style houses, Sitting on the veranda at night with the kids seeing the wildlife (including monitor lizards, hornbill birds etc. from our couch) was just wonderful! The agoda pictures do not reveal how beautiful it really is.

Great Find - great property,value & location”
Fantastic stay. Accommodation of beautiful traditional Malay houses. Great location - central to all islands attractions and the bonus of the quiet property (you will need your own transport) with nice swimming pool. Owners Gudurn and David very helpful providing good local knowledge on places of interest and where to eat. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Good stay for a short time”
We stayed in the field house with a good view of the Padi though partially blocked by the shrubs. You need to understand that this is a traditional malay style house designed to allow wind and air to pass through the walls and floors. That includes mosquitoes, bugs and frogs which visited us every day. The ceiling fan above the bed is also positioned in a way the person directly below it does not get any wind rather, the person beside. Even with the mosquito nets down (with middle gaps), the buggers still managed to find my sweet flesh. I would suggest borrowing a small fan and prop on the chair beside you to blow them away. If not, on the aircon (chargeable). Breakfast was continental and decent with toast, jam, fruit platter and juice. If lunch or dinner, I suggest grabbing out to Pia's the Padi with the best beef rendang and sambal, or Tanjong Rhu for Scarborough's Fish and Chips. One more improvement I thought would be helpful would be the pillows that were too soft and worn out there wasn't neck support. Gudrun and the helper were also very attentive and helpful with our queries. Thank you for a hospitable stay! I

A remote & secluded place, with a very peaceful ambience & lush green background”
It was a place that was described exactly as I had read reviews. Very quiet, and a great landscape with sounds of birds chirping early morning to wake you up. Each bungalows had its own privacy. The hosts were quite helpful and it felt like a place one would enjoy to just kick back and relax.
