Basic facilities Good value and convenient locatio”
This place was fine for a one night stopover in Male in order to catch a seaplane to our resort the next morning. The accommodations are fairly basic but clean. The wireless doesn't work well in our room but you can get online in the lobby and second floor dining area. There is a tiny TV (14"?) way up on the wall but actually has decent international channels. About a 10 minute walk to the dock for the airport shuttle and all the other hotels, restaurants and sights in Male so location was good. The airport pick up was a bit late but the guy at least showed up and was friendly. All in all for Male this is about as good value as you can get. Tip: if your flight arrives after 4pm you WILL have to spend a night in Male as seaplane service stops unless you have a private charter.

Great stay”
Quite a good place to stay in. The staff was friendly and always at standby mode to help right from the moment we landed at Male airport. Basic amenities ok. The room given to us has a scenic view of the Indian Ocean (plus sunrise view). They also provide free wireless connection (unlike some island resort which charges wired/wireless connections per hour in US dollar). In Male city, local food was good and price was reasonable. Overall, it was a value-for-money trip.

Great Service ”
I just stay at Surf View hotel for the short period before going to my resort. The receptionist is very helpful coordinate with the resort and pick up me from the airport around midnight. Room is okay small but convenience , smell is okay, air-con is quite. Recommend for just stop by before going to the resort.

Affordable hotel”
there was a delay in our arrival escort to the hotel from airport but it was resolved when we called up the hotel. staff are cordial and accommodating. they will provide map of the city and tell some tips on transportation services. we had our on time wake up call, wi-fi is free compared to island resort hotels. the room was clean and just enough space. hot water is also good for the early morning shower. but the flush of the toilet was not working - i'm not sure for other rooms. mirror is only available in the bathroom but there is unfinished dresser in the room, cabinet is sufficient as well as the ac. so far, in general, the hotel is affordable and convenient for overnight stay before your flight. by the way, there is no lift in the hotel but luggage & baggage will be carried by staff to/from your room.

It does what it says on the tin”
it's an average stop-over type hotel. for that, it does what it says on the tin. everything works (lights, hot water) - the location is great, not far from the airport jetty (10 mins walk) also to walk around male from the hotel is extremely convenient. male is a compact city, very friendly, safe and interesting. the highlight though was the pick-up from/to airport. we didnt expect it but they came anyway, making sure we actually arrive and depart safely. they dont charge extra for the pick up. staff are friendly and extremely honest (dont try to rip you off or ask for money or tips). overall, a good introduction to your visit to this unique and spectacular country.

Nice hotel and service with a smile”
I have to contact the hotel directly to arrange for the airport transfer just a day before departure and then our flight got delayed, but they still managed to pick us up that night upon our arrival. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. They introduced us the Male city, brought us around to look for money changer/local bank, and even helped us plan and book for our resort/hotel for the next few days in Maldives. All the transfer from island to island went smoothly. As we went in a big group, this is one of the few hotels that I can find which allows to accommodate more adults in a room in Maldives.

Simple and clean with excellent service”
location is pretty good and we were surprised at the excellent service as it was a small hotel. the staff personally picked us up from the airport, paid for the dhoni ride and taxi-ed us to the hotel. they did the same thing when we were leaving and were friendly in answering all our questions. rooms are simple and clean, good for an overnight stay in male before adjourning to the islands.

great hotel to stay in. the staff was friendly and efficient. from the moment they received my wife and i when we landed at male airport till the end of our stay in that hotel, they provided excellent service. we have a scenic view of the indian ocean (especially dawn and sunset). free wi-fi (some hotel/ resort does charge customers for internet connection per hour). easy to get around the town of male. reasonable prices for food and goodies in town.

Convenient location for a short stay in Male”
It located in very strategic area. Easy for us to look around the city and within 5 minutes walking distance will reach Jetty. We arrive Surf View around 10pm, we receive a warm welcome at airport. The hotel have no lift but the staff ready to help us to carry our luggage to our room which located at 3rd floor. My room have a great view for sunrise in the morning. The room is clean but we need to prepare our own shampoo & body shampoo. The staff really responsible, the send us to the airport on the next day and wait with us until the other hotels' staff met us.

surf view hotel basic accommodation great staff”
basic hotel with friendly helpful staff rooms are small and there is no lift but the staff carry your bags up to your room for you the airport transfer is worth every cent so you should definitely choose that option as it makes it so much easier to get across on the ferry to the hotel and then via taxi it only takes about ten minutes from airport if you just need a bed for the night on route to a resort then it is perfect for that if you are looking for luxury accomm in male then this is not it good location make sure you change some money at airport when you arrive so you can buy something in morning and give staff a little tip we made that mistake as no money changers were around

This is a very friendly hotel in Male. And location is closed to port, so if you need to stay in Male for one night, here is the best choice. Although the room is small, and the sea view is not really face to sea. But if you leave one night here, you can go on the street to buy some drinks and cookies. Here is totally cheaper than resorts.

Close to ferry, great staff”
Chose this hotel because it was cheaper and close to the Ferry terminal to the airport. Needed to stay here for the night because seaplane transfers had stopped operating at my arrival time. The ferry runs 24 hours but it is a hassle to need to catch the ferry to and back if you have lots of luggage. If not there's no issue and an experience in itself. The ferry is very well handled by their staff and costs only US$1. Good experience, no elevators so staff had to carry 30kg suitcases up and down(sorry!), to be commended for. Also had to rush for the ferry to the airport the next morning, staff helped organise a taxi and even caught the ferry with us till we were greeted by the next resorts personnel. Felt very organised and safe and looked after, even though we felt it wasn't Surf View Hotel's responsibility. WIFI at reception was out of range in our room 2 floors up, which could be improved. Definitely recommend this hotel

Worth it!”
quite surprised with the great location, iin fact any place in male island is great i guess :) recommended the sea view cuz ull face the airport and can take great picture of the sunrise and airplanes/seaplanes landing. the only cons during our stay is that room 342 was having a clogged bathroom shower. and tv is quite far off from bed and too small 20" i guess. well anything its a good value for money. anything cheaper is on airport island which is far off from the city.

You can get all you want from the hotel”
We were there 2 nights in a suit after a week on a resort island. of course you will see the difference compared to luxury resorts, but you can get all you need from this hotel. The location is good and everything is by walking distance. Shopping in Male is a lot of fun. The receptionist is always serving with smile and the room service is extremely good. The guy almost packed for us,hehe. All in all, good service all you need hotel with reasonable money.

Basic hotel with pleasant staff”
this hotel should be compared to otheers on male', most of which tend to be comprised of very small and basic rooms and relatively expensive considering the standard to other countires in this part of the world having said that the surf view was clean and the internet was in fact extremely fast and reliable. i'm sure that most people on;y spend one night in male' on an overnight when travelling on to a resort and for this its fine. much longer, and the basic amenities become a little tedious, but one again, compared to other hotels i have stayed in male' this is a good average

Friendly staff, but 2 star hotel”
pros: staff were at airport to pick us up, friendly, very polite, everything taken care of. got us from airport, onto ferry and to hotel without any waiting around. same went with departure. very efficient. cons: room basic. bathroom very small. toilet shower sink all in 2.5 by 1.5 m sq. all right next to each other, when you shower water covers the toilet. shower blocked first time we used it. toilet blocked first day. sink was covered in orange staining. no toilet paper in bathroom. black hairs in shower. long black hairs in bedroom. bed sheets were clean however. had to boil kettle on floor as power cord didn't reach. chair in room was broken along with wood broken off woden cabinet. deff one-two stars. would recommend getting to resort as soon as possible. or avoid going to male city altogether. staff were deff the pros to this hotel which made the stay more bareable.

Good location but basic”
we stayed at the surf view hotel for 2 nights before heading to other resorts. the rooms are pretty basic but we still had cable tv and were near the 1 beach in male and local restaurants.
