At night, there is only one restaurant open and there is no grocery store there. So better stock it up before staying there. The restaurant is very nice tho, but quite expensive.

I stayed in the hillside villa, it’s just worthy and the staffs are so helpful! The hotel managed by sutera sanctuary really has its standard! Couldn’t be more satisfied! Definitely is a must try hotel!

everything was good. the only negative point is the sea can get quite polluted with plastic bag depending on currents (coffee/tea bags from taxi boat drivers, among other things)

The isolated place is really good for relaxing and enjoying the nature. However preservation on the coral and the ecosystem are needed to give the real experience of living in place surrounded by sea

Beachside Luxury on Island”
Sutera Sanctuary Lodges is a luxurious slice of island life. Facilities are good & the beach is stunning. The hotel has its own private stretch of beach so you dint get overwhelmed by the daytrippers. Onece they leave at about 3pm you have the place to yourself & fellow guests. Excellent snorkelling conditions in the shallows. Dont miss sunset at Sunset point! We were delayed an hour getting to the Island by a problem with the Hotel boat, but on arrival we received a heartfelt apology & were upgraded to a Villa. Great Service.

Perfect ”
The employees are friendly. There is so quiet and romantic after 4:00pm because a lot of tourists left. Staying here is the best choice because of the beautiful sunset and peaceful beach. The room is also great! It’s clean, large. The food is delicious. This staying is going to be an unforgettable memory in my life. There is only this hotel in the island ;therefore, it seems like you stay in personal island and beach!

A place to unwind and get appreciate nature ”
Island is near to the mainland, only 10 minutes travel time by speedboat from Sutera Harbour Marina. The Island is open to public from 8am to 4pm thus you will find the island is crowded between these time especially weekends and public holiday. Lots of amenities for visitors. Food serves are bountful especially the seafood as well as local fruits. Few types of accommodation are provided range from beach villa to hill top villa. These are all luxury air-coned accommodation for visitors who opt to stay overnight. The island provide visitors with strategic location to witness the sunrise & sunset. Lots of water sports are available in the island and island hoppings to the nearest islands can also be arranged. Few good restaurants are operated to caters for the daily visitors and those who stays overnight in the island.

Great experience overall”
This was a good place to stay for a couple nights. Pros: beautiful beaches and views, superb facilities, really warm staff, good hiking, snorkeling opportunities and cool wildlife Cons: the day tourists can get a little annoying as there are so many, however if you’re staying in the hillside villas there’s a beach that’s relatively private. Also, the restaurant was good with many offerings, but you have to be super specific about your order; I asked for some items that were delivered incorrectly or not at all, although with that said they were very accommodating to fix when I raised it. Finally, the island can be a little pricey, especially for beer - if you have time, stock up on supplies before you head to the island. Overall would definitely come back. Thank you Sutera!

Wonderful Experience”
I was there for my honeymoon. Hill side vill.. Beautiful and clean~ November is a low season. Everyone come here in the morning.. but less will stay over. I like the environment and the friendliness of the staffs here.. the price is very reasonable.. but the food here is very huge portion so we cant finish it all. During daytime have a lot of Sport activities for us to choose. I like the sea walking very much~ 😍 that's plenty of fish! Enjoy a wonderful honey moon.. that will be my best memory staying in this villa~

Helpful and Thoughtful Staff”
I book my stay through Agoda but on the day to travel to Manukan Island, my daughter caught fever and need to visit the Dr. We have no choice but to cancelled out trip. As I book the hotel at a special price, it is understand that no refund is allowed and payment is fully paid. I called in just to informed so that the boat will not wait for us.; but to my surprise they together with Agoda helped to arranged to postpone my stay. It is so kind of them to take this extra efforts. Thank you

Feedback”
This is not our first trip to Manukan, me and my family have been there several times from Jesselton Jetty, just for a round trip. But I managed to get the best offer there was through Agoda for an overnight stay at this island. It was surprising because I usually thought islands stays would cost most than RM1K per night, but I booked this immediately when finding out it's only less than 600 bucks per night. I was me and my family first time taking a boat from Sutera Harbour Marina Jetty with a luxury boat (better than the ones we boarded at Jesselton Point), it's not rough or challenging as Jesselton speed boats, it was smooth and only took about 15 minutes to reach Manukan. We love the boat so much. Upon arriving at Resort reception, the welcome was unexpected. The customer service was the most friendly, there were waiting lobby where we wait comfortably and some welcoming drinks and a wet face towel to refresh. We got our villa keys in no time.

A little piece of paradise ”
The villas were gorgeous and spacious. The water was beautiful with so many fish for great snorkelling. There was a telescope in the villa so you can look over the water during the day and at the stars at night. The staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

The staffs were very helpful and friendly. Was suprised with the speed boat as we thought it would be normal ferry transfer. They briefed us well. The room was excellent. Superb view. Very relaxing Not much of fish when we went. Food slightly pricy. Would be better if u could bring some food along. Overall the best experience 💖

beautiful location but service could be better ”
The island is beautiful, so is the rooms. However, the dinner at the restaurant was a disappointing experience. Food took very late long to arrive and one of us didn't food until we reordered since the staff left out his order. Breakfast was after 8 and everyone was hungry.. Some rubbish floating around on the beach and seaside.

AN EXOTIC GETAWAY”
It started with a 15 minutes boat ride from Sutera Harbour jetty on a luxurious speedboat as part of the Sutera Sanctuary Lodges room deal. The ride was awesome. We enjoyed the view and weather was good. The rooms are spacious and superb. The beach is clean and we enjoyed the swim along the beaches and snorkeling. However, the restaurant was close during the night because our stay coincided with the impending royal visit from the Sultan of Perak, Malaysia due the next day, so the staff was busy preparing for it. We had to have dinner at the open spaces next to it. The food was mediocre and is not worth the asking price but we had no choice as no other eatery was available that night. Breakfast was mediocre as well with flies everywhere but still tolerable. The ride back to the jetty (KK) was a shared boat ride by another company as the resort's boat were all unavailable due to the royal visit. So we had to make do with a less than impressive boat ride with no life jacket provided.

Nice rooms, convenient location by the pier might disturb calmness”
Excellent room standard, spacious, very well furnished and very clean. However, the website gives the impression that all rooms are located in original wodden houses in a hillside environment which is not the case - approximately half of them are set-up in modern houses right beside the public park/beach. This is not a big deal if you know it beforehand and don't arrive with wrong expectations. The hotel is located close to the pier which is convenient, however if you fully want to enjoy calm scenery, you have to book (a more expensive) room towards the hillside. otherwise your balcony might be right in front of the main park road where all boat passengers arriver. However, the windows are proper, so it's not loud in the room and people are not arriving at night. Very nice staff at the pool for diving/snorkeling. We'd recommend to assign staff on the private beach to assure that traveling groups don't misuse the hotel beach/sunbeds.

The staff is great but they really need to fire their management and marketing department.”
The staff was very friendly and make you feel welcome. We arrived late and they had prepared sandwiches for us, which was super sweet. I wish that was the complete experience. However if you book this place you can't trust any of the information available. The spa currently listed on the website shut it down 2 YEARS ago. You can't rent a kayak, listed in various brochures, next to the pool at the dive centre there's a huge poster that says they still do. WiFi is absolutely terrible and cut out and you can barely get a signal on the island for your cell phone. There's nothing to do at the resort after 10pm because the restaurant and bar is shut down. There's a lot of day tripper, which is super fine, but it's absurd that the "private beach" is really dirty with plastic bottles everywhere and pile of at the end of the beach. The public beach is much nicer. Booking it isn't cheap either and these are all fixable problems, the place really needs a change of management.

nice beach chalet but trashy beach”
Arrived at the island on a nice speedboat and warm welcome by the resort manager. Impressed with the room we have got, better than what we saw on the photos. However, totally disappointed with the island - the beach, sea are very trashy. totally polluted by the tourists. the beach is full of trash, ants and sandflies. Went for snorkelling, but the underwater world is kind of dead...with barely few fishes...even when we swim close to the buoy line. hope the marine park management will hire more people to clean up the beach & sea with the RM5 collect from each visitor on every entry!
