Comfort for value”
I loved to stay at Suwan Palm Resort. Audi, the receptionist was so warmly welcoming me upon arrival and immediately made me feel at home. I have been coming to Khao Lak for the last 15 years and chose the hotel for its location (directly on the beach and in walking distance from the village). Due to low season there were not many guests at all and construction works were going on which absolutely was not a problem for me - i got a special price. The maid came every day and was really good and care taking. She bought me new towels each day and cleaned the room up. I would chose this hotel again.
Small, pleasant hotel”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Suwan Palm Resort. We were made very welcome and had a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking gardens to the beach. The hotel is situated on a quiet road within walking distance of the main town where there is a good choice of restaurants and plenty of money exchange bureau. The swimming pool is very attractive and was never busy. The sandy beach is vast but at high tide beware of a steep ledge in lots of places particularly if you have young children. Breakfast was great.
Great location! Nice place!!!”
I really enjoyed my time here at Suwan Palm Resort. Breakfast was great and included with my stay. They are located right on the beach, which was really nice. Great pool, and adequate number of lounging places by the pool and by the beach. The food was pretty good, and the rooms were nice. The shower was pretty funny with a fluctuating water pressure, but otherwise everything was great! The man at the restaurant even gave me an umbrella to use to get back to my room without getting drenched during a downpour! Friendly staff.
Friendly small hotel”
we arrived by bus so the driver dropped us at the top of the road. about 10 min walk, very easy to find. greeted by very friendly receptionist 'audi'& shown to our room on the second floor. this is such a lovely place. fortunately for us it was low season as the similan & surin islands are closed so not many coming to khao lak. most shops are closed or open late in the day if at all but that wasn't a problem for us. a few restaurants scattered around but we found a lovley thai restaurant up opposite the markets. takieng thai restaurant, absolutely beautiful food & great price however a bit far from the hotel so you need a motorbike or a tuktuk. the hotel room was certainly spacious, we were upgraded to a deluxe room free & in the room was everything we needed. it was certainly nice & clean with a beautiful balcony facing the ocean. such a beautiful spot. i read a few reviews prior to booking & yes it is a little run down as it was hit hard in the tsunami being right on the beach. however, the owners are working to get things in order & all is great from what we saw. their restaurant has a few very limited dishes however it is open for breakfast every morning. they are also building a new restaurant. the swimming pool is glorious! it was 4 days before we had to share with anyone. walking along the beach daily was so quiet & peaceful, sometimes we saw another couple of people otherwise not a soul in sight. the beach is a bit dangerous to swim at this time of year but further up the beach is fine. we visited a few tsunami ruins along with the monuement & sculpture, which seems to be just sitting there now, uncared for, however they are doing up the area where the police boat 813 landed 2kms away so that will be a lovely memorial when all completed. i would recommend this hotel for the price, convenience & of course the location to the beach. the staff are very friendly & smiling, always ready to help & nice to have a small local run hotel.
A most pleasant surprise”
We go to Khoa Lak every year for a few days to decompress from the noise of Phuket. The hotel we normally stay in was fully booked so simply by looking at addresses so we would be in the same Soi I chose Suwan Palm. We has a sea view room. Between our room and the beach we faced Temple grounds. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. We would certainly stay here again!
good service resort”
clean, very nice resort, perfect service, near the beach the reseptionist is very lovely and nice, actually our reserved room was broken when we arrived, no more valid room for us at that time, the reseptionist help us to book another resort for bunglow room(our original room is just standard room) in time, which nearby the Suwan Palm resort, no more extra fee, and free for dinner. this is the best resort for our Thailand trip.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the Suwan Palm. It is located on a great stretch of beach, and the restaurant and Massage located directly behind the beach chairs made it so we never really felt like we had to leave the resort. It was also a very close 5 minute walk to get to the main road where there are a ton of eating options, bars, and shopping. It was great value for money especially with the included breakfast. Only thing that would have been nice is wireless internet as it seems like half the hotels we stayed at while in Thailand were free, or very expensive for internet access. (as was the case here) The beds were extremely comfortable, and the rooms were simply massive... loved that!
Pleasant but not overly impressed”
1. This resort is good value for money if you're looking for something more affordable. You can't compare this resort to more expensive ones but compared to the more affordable resorts, this is one of the better ones considering it is only a short walk to the main strip and virtually beach front. 2. If you choose the promotion in which dinner is included (as was advertised on Agonda), be sure to agree on the terms in advance since these were not explicitly stated. (I.e. Includes dinner but at which restaurant? To what value is dinner? Are drinks included? If drinks are included, are alcoholic beverages included? What about service charge? How about V.A.T.? Will we receive meal vouchers upon check-in which state all the terms on the back? Etc.). 3. The beach front area for guests (which is actually adjacent to the 20m empty plot of land directly in front of the resort) is crying out to have money spent on it. It looks like the resort doesn't want to invest capital into this area which guests use for sunbathing, dining and drinking because this land doesn't actually belong to the resort - it's on another plot of land next door! As a result, the neighboring resorts look far more attractive from the beach and you end up going to them and lounging on their deck chairs during the day (which is technically not allowed since you're not their guest, making it an uncomfortable situation to be in but one that's better than lounging at the beach front deck chairs at the Suwan Palm). 4. We were fortunate enough to get a room with a sea view. Not every room has a sea view so it's worth requesting.
Great hotel, perfect rooms & good location”
Hotel was great, needed wider selection on breakfast menun & restaurant area needed cleaner up a little but these are minor points, the staff were great & teh rooms exceptionally clean & also a really good size. I would quite happily stay at Suwan Palm Resort again & would recommend it to friends
Beautiful Hotel, on beachfront and nice and quiet”
we stayed here for a week to just chill out after travelling around lots. it was perfect, clean rooms, nice clean pool. very quiet. right on the beachfront. really nice restaraunt and its cheap as well. khao lak isnt the busiest of places at all, so if you are looking for some chill out time then its the place and suwan would definatly be recommended for anyone looking for a nice hotel on a budget.
nice small good resort on beach ”
we stay in suwan palm resort 6 nights, had basic breakfeast, near beach, good price, small pool, rented motor bike for three days, saw many water falls and beaches.went snorking smilian islands ok. i recommend to shop aroud for tours. Khoa lak is very relaxing area to mellow out. no loud noise and bars. would come back again.
Nice resort right beside the beach”
This is a very peaceful and accomodating resort hotel. The room was very cozy and comfortable. The resort is located right beside a beautiful beach ideal for sunbathing or swimming or just for relaxation. If you prefer to stay at the hotel, it counts with a very nice pool appropriate for the same activities. The staff was very cordial and helpful. The breakfast was tasty every day. The main street, or road is a 10 minute walk away. Khao Lak is a very peaceful town and usually shuts down around 10 pm, but you may find anything you need in this picturesque little place.
Perfect location for our wedding on the beach”
We chose the Suwan Palm simply because it's right next to COCONUTS on the beach. Here we had the most amazing wedding-ceremony with the lovely help of manager Bee who got everything organized in a few days: great food, flowers, welcome-drinks, chairs & a stunning wedding arch with flowers and of course coconuts! What a great place!!!
perfect location, big rooms, very clean”
the suwan palm was a great place to spend a week with the kids. the beach was right out the front door and perfect for a long explore. it was within walking distance of many restaurants, a decent convenience store and the main street through town. the rooms were very clean and the staff quite helpful. we would stay there again
Excellent service and room”
It was an excellent stay at the new building at suwan palm resort. Beds and facilities were all Super and the staff were friendly and helpful. You will not regret staying especially in the family rooms!!(: book now!!
Great beachside value. Short walk to town.”
For the equivalent of about $20 a night I found the Suwan Palm Resort to be great value.Granted,it's no 5 star resort, but I don't go on holidays to a foreign country only to spend time confined at a resort.Nevertheless this place had wireless internet access(just get the password from reception upon your arrival),a reasonably sized swimming pool, enough to do short laps up and down or to have a bit of a splash about with your family. At check-in,I noticed the reception area had a strange odour,I though it was urine because it smelt faintly like a public toilet, but there was no such problem in the room or anywhere else.Staff were pleasant. There is direct access to Nang Thong Beach at the rear of the property, with a few bamboo lounge chairs scattered around to lie down on.The water is a great temperature, just watch the current, though I had no trouble when I went in for a dip. There is a restaurant at the resort but I'm not sure if it only serves breakfast,or whether it is open during the day.I got the impression it only served breakfast, though I didn't eat there. The property itself has a pleasant atmosphere, with palm trees around it,especially at the entrance. There is parking at the front, enough for 3-4 cars and some scooters. The rooms are what westerners would expect of a 3-star hotel/motel,and the TV had a good selection of English and Thai channels,as well as some other European language channels from memory. An in-room safe was provided, & everything worked. I'm not sure what had happened but the ceiling had partially collapsed in the corner of my bathroom. It wasn't a danger though,I suspect it was just due to poor workmanship. The Suwan Palm Resort is about 15 minutes' walk from the main road in Khao Lak, with a good selection of restaurants and other souvenir shops in that area.To get there from the main highway, head down the road which has the main taxi/bus stop on the corner.
Excellent location, very clean”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Suwan Palm. Everything was very clean, the rooms were large. The beach is only steps away. It is a short walk to the main street and the restaurants and a shop for buying necessities. We would stay here again.
Great hotel for beach access and the kids”
We had a wonderful four days at the Suwan Palm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The kids loved the beach access and the fresh water swimming pool. We enjoyed that it was at the end of the hotel strip and a little quieter.
Suwan Palm - Pleasant, Clean, and Reasonably Price”
All in all the Suwan Palm was a pleasant stay and we enjoyed Khao Lak very much. The beach front is great and the rooms are very clean. Compared to many other accomodations the bathrooms were nice as well. Worth a look at for sure.
Can hear the sounds of the waves!!!”
i had stayed at their other hotel in khao lak - morin tara which was great but far from the beach and the city. this one was a bit more expensive but closer to everything, especially the beach. i will definitely go back to khao lak and stay there again, if i can't find anything similar for cheaper price. i only have two small complaints. first there is a bit of mold on the shower curtains and second, the refrigerator stops working once you pull out the key out. i left fro a day trip and when i returned, all my liquids were warm so i had to go out and buy cold water when i had 6 litres in the fridge and i had to throw out the food i had.
