I would never stay here again.”
This is in a beautiful location on a lovely beach. I do not know what has happened but it is very neglected. The rooms are dirty, repairs left unattended to and the restaurant advertised on their website does not open any more. (Though they do provide the breakfast you have paid for). The staff are friendly but in local terms you are paying a lot of money and I believe you could not but be very disappointed. After a couple of days we checked out and moved somewhere that was less than half the price was clean and beautiful.

Nice and calm and perfect beaches..”
Swimmingpool for the kids, hot shower and a perfect beach
Nice place to stay, friendly people, swimmingpool was great for our kids alsobecause of the baby part. Only thing is that they did not serve any alcohol so we went out to eat at nearby very nice restaurants.

Nice, confirtable stay at a superb location ”
Location, staff, price
The location: the hotel is located at a fabulous location between a large lagoon and magnificent Marakolliya beach at the end of a dirt road, about 10 minutes drive out of town. Don’t be put off by the rough road. There are plenty of other beach bars and restaurants within easy walking distance if you want a change of venue or go out for drinks or meals and there is absolutely no traffic noise, because the road ends at the hotel. The resident tuk-tuk driver will take you into town for only 200-300 Rupees if you need to go the ATM or do shopping .The hotel: the hotel has a nice open-plan lobby and restaurant, as well as a lovely swimming pool. The hotel rooms are housed in a number of 2 storey buildings along the lagoon with views over the beach and the Indian Ocean. There is free wifi in the restaurant and pool area. The swimming pool is nice and clean and a good place to be, if you are not in the mood to walk to the safe swimming area further down the beach.Apparently there were a number of low-set bungalows closer to the beach, but they were destroyed in the Tsunami and were not re-built. The remaining buildings all survived that terrible event, which is good to know. The room was clean, spacious and pleasant. The large double bed was comfortable, aircon and ceiling fan seemed fairly new and worked fine and without making noise. Bathroom could do with a touch up, but everything was in working order. There was a tv, but we never used it, as there were far better things to do, like sitting on the cosy front balcony overlooking the beach and the Indian Ocean. There is also a large patio/landing at the back of the building overlooking the lagoon. No wifi in the rooms, but mobile reception was ok most of the time. There is a jug for boiling water and free coffee/tea and drinking water, which is replenished every day. Linen and towels were clean. The restaurant is great and will make proper Sri Lankan curries on request. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Needs major work to live up to its reviews”
Its only 50m from the beach
We spent as little time in the hotel as possible. The whole place needs some renovation. The lagoon view villa had no lagoon view. If you look out of a tiny window in the bathroom you can see some water between the trees. Laundry prices were insane, 200rupees per item. We waited until marissa and got a whole machine load of washing done for 500rupees instead. The restaurant/pool bar doesnt serve any alochol, and is hardly ever manned. The pool needed cleaning. There was no housekeepers to clean our room Besides that the staff were friendly and helpful.

Disappointment and disinterest”
Beach, neighbouring restaurant, swimming pool
As adding an extra bed to a room would be double the cost of an extra room, we booked to deluxe suites instead of a villa. Turns out that one of the suites could only be opened by the staff, since their was an issue with the lock. The second room had an airconditioning leaking on the power supply, the third had oncontrollable aircon. We were then transferred to two villa's, which each had already an extra bed in them. Unfortunately, the steps leading up to the villa's do not have railings, quite dangerous at night with so we ended up all sleeping in the same villa in the end. The cook prefers t cook his own choice. Other food is possible, if you got an hour or so. Luckely, there is a very nice restaurant next door on the beach, with staff that takes an interest in customer satisfaction.

When the manager is out.”
Location, nice neighbour hotel.
The hotel could be very nice. When we stayed at the hotel, the director and the manager were out for a few days, And that was the reason for the staff to take also a holiday. No service because the boys had to watch tele all day or hanged around the snookertable. Fortunately this hotel has a nice neighbour hotel were we spend the days on the beach and had nice dinners. The beach restaurant of our hotel was at the time a dump.

Easy location to visit turtle sanctuary.”
Location, staff and price.
Located at the end of a unmade road Suwaya Villa was very comfortable. The rough seas made swimming difficult and the water temperature in the pool was warmer than expected. The Villa room was quite large for two people with a separate lounge room. Breakfast was the usual omlette, toast, coffee, fruit juice and plate of tropical fruit. Staff were very helpful in assisting us to book our accommodation in Colombo. Good location to visit turtle sanctuary from, just 10kms away via tuk tuk.

Nice, but need a update to use the word luxury”
Beach, river, view
Nice and easy, but the place need a update and a repair to use the word luxury. But its placed great between the sea and the river...and you can hire a canoe for the river, where you can see wild life. At evening the is a lot of parrots flying over and settling down i the palm trees a little down the beach.
