Nice and quiet place with large bungalows”
lovely place with a pretty garden and large bungalows. although it's not situated on the beach, if you rent a motorbike you will have no problem getting to the beach. our bungalow was cleaned every day and supplies replenished. decent price, very nice service. overall, we were very happy with our stay. please note that they don't have a restaurant but are located very close to a street with restaurants and shops.
Dirty Hut with Threatening Reception”
I booked via agoda for two nights as was using a training camp nearby and on a small budget. Eventually I stayed on for couple of weeks as reception agreed to give me a better price. However, as I lost my atm card, I had to pay either online or via credit card, which they refused. We settled for me to pay via agoda (not the 'better price'), which went well as I paid my weekly extensions. On the very last day, they were threatening and said I should pay higher fees and insisted I pay an extra night for superior room when I was given the same dirty hut throughout the stay (standard hut , as per my first booking on agoda) Hut was also dirty with stains on mirrors, walls, curtains, bedlinen. The cleaning lady threw all the trash outside the hut in bags and the area was mosquito infested.
Comfortable, good location, friendly staff.”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Baan Taa-Yaay. The staff were friendly and helpful with organising tours, accommodation and laundry services. The rooms were of a decent size, quite spacious in fact, with all the facilities you would expect in such accommodation. The rooms were serviced daily with attention to detail displayed by the cleaning staff. I didn't eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar there, but I am sure it would be of the same calibre as the rest of the accommodation. The accommodation is located at Chaweng Beach, which is probably the main party district of the island with many restaurants, resorts and nightclubs. In saying that, the accommodation was quiet at night and it was very easy to fall asleep. The accommodation is located only a short distance from the airport. Overall, I would recommend Baan Taa-Yay to anyone looking for accommodation in Samui and would happily stay there again.
Very nice, simple hotel with friendly staff”
We visited Samui for a few days for a trip to the dentist at Bangkok Samui Hospital. This hotel was one of the closest to the hospital and seemed very nice for the price (half price special offer at the time, only 700 THB a night for a superior bungalow). The room was a good size, and although our double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together, they were very comfortable. The bedroom is separated from another good sized space with a sink and an open wardrobe for some clothes and 2 other doors leading to the separate shower and toilet, both clean and functional with a hot water shower. We were in room 17, the tv was a little fuzzy on some channels but good enough and the internet connection was surprisingly good; My high-gain usb wifi stick probably helped, but we were also both able to connect our phones without issue. The guy on reception was very friendly and helpful, he taxied us to a few places, then helped us to rent a very good scooter for 200 THB a day including 2 helmets, which was delivered to the hotel. Outside the room is a balcony and you're surrounded by banana plants and trees and get the occasional visit from one of the friendly Huskys that wander the grounds. Would definitely recommend this place and will be returning for our next trip to the dentist!
Lovely modern bungalow”
Clean and modern bungalows with all basic amenities. There is hot water, daily free drinking water, daily room cleaning, air-conditioning, small refrigerator and television. This resort was a 5 min. walk to beach and 10 min. to main shopping and dining area. It was much quieter by our resort, which we really enjoyed. We rented bicycles to explore all of Chaweng Beach. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The resort is also very close to the local Thai Market where fresh fish, meat and produce can be found! Would definitely stay here again...great value for our money.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
i'm stay in baan taa-yaay one week, and i want to say,a bungalow is in quit place, staff very friendly and very helpful, especially luktarn, which know give the correct answer to any question, which help me a lot
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff”
I had intially booked for 3 nights stay but as i got there later than planned, i stayed another night. Also because i was enjoying my stay there. It is a lovely quiet hotel and away from the noisy areas of Chaweng. It is only a 5mins walk to the southern end of Chaweng beach, without all the beach chairs. The lady owner is very friendly and even offer me a ride to the food village and to search for a sim card for my iphone as i had a long day of traveling. If you are not looking to always be in the party scene and away from the crowd but still close to the beach, this is the place. I would definitely stay there again on my next Samui trip! Only 2 things, water pressure of showers are weak and beds are abit hard but thats normal i guess. Walls are so thin i can hear the "activity" from next door where the Italian guy stayed at room 1. Thank God i was just heading out! But you can even hear it from outside!
Hidden Gem. Bit far away though.”
we loved our stay here, we checked into a suite for the first three nights and were really really surprised and what we were given. the room was huge, with double doors adjoining an almost walk in wardrobe which you had to walk through to get to the separate toilet and shower room ( which you could fit about 10 people in ) !!! the room was tastefully decorated, but very rustic /modern / plain all at the same time, concrete walls with wooden furniture... somehow it just worked. the balconys a lovely big run along the front of the room with tables and chairs. the only downside to this hotel is its at least a 20 minute walk to the main town. we are young and fit and it took us this long... but then on the other hand it's literally a 3-4 minute walk to the gorgeous beach that samui has to offer ( which you can walk along and get to the main town anyway ) ps wifi worked brilliantly. overall stay amazing thanks
good location, quiet but not far from beach”
nice resort, good sized rooms with nice balcony, seperate toilet and shower. mattresses are very soft, which may make your back hurt, friendly staff which is really helpful, rooms look basic so actually I would recommend that they invest a small amount in some cheap decoration which makes the rooms not just look like grey concrete, rooms where cleaned every day, free wireless which is seldom to find nowadays, as far as I could see there is no restaurant in service right now, but there are plenty of restaurants just on the road in front of this resort
Great locations and reasonable price”
the only setback is the wifi always out of order. the price is affordable. comes with air-cond and free wifi. but, the staff is not really fluent in english. their package trip (island hopping, diving etc) is the cheapest that you can get in samui.
Lovely hotel, nice and quiet”
hotel is at the end of the road from all the shops, bars and restaurants which was perfect for us, a nice walk of about 10mins to get there. really nice helpful owner, massive rooms and clean!! we even stayed an extra night!!
โทรศัพท์เสีย ติดต่อยาก แต่ที่พักเงียบสงบดี สะอาด พนักงานมาเปิดห้องให้ ที่เหลืออยากได้อะไรให้เรียกเอาเองเลย
Stayed at this hotel for three nights and were over the moon about the value for money.the hotel was only a 5mins walk from chewang beach with plenty of restaurants and shopping close by
Back to nature”
This place is for those who wants to go back to nature. Surrounded by trees and insects such as mosquitoes, cockerels, crickets and donkeys. Broken doors that cannot shut well, Mosquitoes everywhere. Bare cement floor and asbestos roof. Place i will not recommend to my friends. We shifted out immediately the next day
Do not go there if you are looking for something nice by western standards! Everything there is very rudimentary, but that is also what makes it special. Needs are met. All in all it was a good experience
Underwhelming but satisfactory”
The pictures on this place do it much more justice than the place itself. The rooms were concrete and not cosy at all. The bathroom/shower set up was odd, as there were no solid windows and just nets which allowed for you to share your shower with lizards watching you from the other side. It was quite a noisy stay with all of the surrounding wildlife - and what sounded to be a donkey(?!) that chirped away all night!
Very bad... ”
Shower without floor, wooden doors so lot of fungus everywhere. Room stinks(moisture) refrigerator also. Restaurant forum pictures doesn't exist anymore. We had much better place to stay before is same price.
A chilled stay in Samui”
Overall, we've had a really enjoyable stay here. It's been very quiet, even with the half moon party happening just down the beach. The beds are really comfortable, room very nice. Bathroom and shower are kind of in an open area but in a good way. Toilet leaked a little when flushing but it was not a problem. Maid came and cleaned everyday and brought fresh bottles of water everyday, although not sure if our sheets or towels were changed for 2 of the days? Good location 5 min walk from the beach, lots of bike hire shops around (worth hiring a bike to get to places each and everyday as taxis and tuk-tuks can be expensive for one way trips) Lots of wildlife around which is nice! Dogs, cats, frogs, geckos etc. Staff are friendly and offer advice when needed. Recommended to those who want a chilled and beachy stay in Samui.
