Riktigt bra hotell”
Clean Decent Hotel”
The hotel is situated slightly off the busy city centre but conveniently located near to Haymarket station that has the tram and train facilities. Only one station to reach Princess Street where a walk to the Princess Park & Edinburgh Castle. Every other things are fine with the hotel.
Good option for Edinburgh”
The hotel is good value for money in comparison to similar hotels. On site parking is a bonus with a discounted rate for guests (£8.00 for 24 hours June 2019) but you cannot reserve a space in advance. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The room was generally clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room had a view of Edinburgh Castle. I think the hotel could benefit from a good clean. The water overflow on the side of the bathroom basin was dirty inside the rim of the overflow (black) and this was visible in the bathroom mirror. There was trash on a flat roof where the hotels air conditioning units were housed which was most likely from previous maintenance work on the units but it was visible from our room. The hotel is an easy walk of about 20 minutes to Princes Street and the old town area.
Nice hotel furnished with style. Friendly staff at the reception. Breakfast was perfect ! Will visite again !
Quality of bedding substandard at this hotel”
I booked this hotel as it was advertised as including breakfast, it didn’t, however they did give us one breakfast due to the mix up. We had to wait to check in as our room wasn’t ready. They then moved us to another room as our room still wasn’t ready. There was no bed made up for our daughter so we had to ask for bedding and make it up ourselves. It was on a vinyl type ottoman which all the bedding just slipped off during the night. Our bed had no mattress protector and a flat sheet that barely covered the mattress and bunched up during the night so you ended up waking up straight on the mattress. We asked for this to be rectified for the second night, it wasn’t, and we had to remake the bed ourselves with mattress protectors finally supplied later, one with a large stain on it. The bedding was equivalent to what you would expect in a youth hostel, not a 4* hotel. 1 small soap for 3 people for 2 nights and mould all over the grout in the shower. I expected more of a 4* hotel.
We were actually a Father and Son duo sharing a twin room, which was really comfortable, I slept like a brick, which is quite unusual. Dining facilities were superb, with a really tasty menu, we decided to eat at the hotel rather than going to a restaurant, mainly because the food was so much better. The Breakfast buffet had something for everyone and as much as you could eat, I would give this hotel more than five stars and would happily stay there again.
The reception staff were very helpful on arrival. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful (buffet style) and gave the option of cooked Scottish or continental. Dishes were replaced as appropriate. The location is ideal for the visitor to Edinburgh; convenient for transport to all attractions and for access to Haymarket Station which is two minutes walk.
Close to major attractions”
The hotel is very close to Haymarket station with all transportation easily accesible. many good restaurants around as well .The restaurant inside the hotel is very well interior decorated and recently refurbished . Rooms are immaculate . Staff may seem to be a bit cold sometimes with responses without a smile . The ventilator in our bathroom never worked during our stay .
There is a nice choice for traveling in Edinburgh, as the hotel near the Haymarket station and just need half hour to Edinburgh castle. Also, the breakfast is delicious! I will choose this hotel when I travel to Edinburgh again.
Need to improve cleaning crew service. ”
We were accommodated across the New Year period. the staff were friendly. however, despite multiple requests made directly to cleaning crew or front desk on different days, we did not receive any shower gel or refill of tissue papers across the duration of the stay. We were also short of towels and in the end one of us had to shower with a few face towels. We understand if this was due to the overcapacity during the New Year Period, but given our patience and multiple times of initiating and reminding, we unfortunately will not be revisiting this hotel again. thank you very much to the staff member who apologized and gave us an extension of check out time FOC on the last day, but we were really hoping for some shower gel!
Rude staff and broken bathroom door”
We stayed at this hotel from 14th to 16th September. The hotel was located in an ideal place to access the iconics of Edinburgh. At the arrival, we had to stay too long to verify and confirm our reservation with the reception. It was so much regrettable the way the staff spoke to us (Very rude and aggressive way). The hotel receptionist could not find our reservation due to their system error and talked to us very rude way and we were hungry at that time. We politely asked them to take the time and find our reservation on their system until we get back after having lunch. After we came back to the hotel, the receptionist at the time managed to find our reservation and asked us to make the payment. Instead of the original amount, they have charged a different amount from our credit card. (I urge from everyone not to give your credit card details this hotel as they steal all your credit card details). After we checked in to our room, we noticed that our washroom door has broken.
Good location interns of getting to & from airport with tram stop nearby. A short distance to town.”
Good location. Not pretentious centre of town type of hotel. The only complaint I have was regarding the servicing of the bathroom. No soap, both the tissue box and sanitary bag holder were empty. I rang down for soap. After some time an employee arrived. He had been instructed to turn the sofa in to a bed.??? It took him a LONG TIME to return with a bar of soap. My travelling companion, in her room, also had no soap. Staff otherwise very helpful. We actually ate in hotel restaurant in evening rather than attempt to find somewhere to eat, which was adequate. Walk into ‘Old Town’ not the prettiest. Walk to Princess Street very short and pleasant. Yes, I would stay there again based on cost and location.
It was pleasant to stay at this hotel. The staffs are nice and the room is not too spacious but comfortable
A few issues with my second visit. No booking as computers had been upgraded the same day I book through Agoda.. took about 20 mins to sort out. Once sorted we received our room card which when we got to the room the key card didn’t work, my husband went back to reception to advise them to sort it out, he arrived back to the third floor to find out the key still did not work. This was done three times and still didn’t work for us to be then moved rooms to the forth floor, by this point it kind of ruined our romantic weekend we had planned. Once we got settled in everything was okay apart from a chip out of the bath & the toilet seat chipped. The next day we arrived at breakfast to find out the reservation wasn’t made even when we told the receptionist that we would like breakfast. We finally got breakfast which was good but they had run out of glasses for the juice there was no individual butters and the table we got wasn’t cleaned. Overall the hotel is a great location.
Good for a 4 star Hotel.”
We had pleasant stay at Leonardo Hotel. Comfortable, modern and clean. If you are not from the UK bring power plug adapters, as they only have one European plug (in the whole room), and do not provide any. Our room was small/medium with a big TV. The shower had little pressure and our phone didn't work, but it was not a big deal. Polite staff. All in all, a four star hotel with a little space for improvement.
Good Hotel ”
Only marked facilities down as I do like a Gym when staying over. But this hotel is very convenient for Haymarket station and not too far to walk into Princes Street. Had stayed in the Malmaison the previous night but got a much better nights sleep here.
Leonardo hotel is fairly basic but everything is done well and it provided everything I needed. Great central location with lots of shops and places to eat or get a takeaway. Haymarket train station is a 5 minute walk away, and that's where the airport shuttle bus stops too. The hotel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and they provide essentials such as hairdryer, toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities. Small touches made a difference, such as free fruit and drinking water in the lobby. The one improvement I would make is to have more staff available at the front desk - there was usually only one person on duty which meant long waits when there were several people to serve and phone calls to take. Overall great value and highly recommended.
Very Friendly and Helpful Staff”
very welcoming even though there were obvious renovations taking place you couldn't tell, would love to visit again but once renovations are complete this may be over our budget as the price would definitely be raised.
Good hotel with friendly helpful staff”
it was a good hotel. we stayed there for 2 nights and due to the central location of the hotel we did not have to spend much for transportation. Good friendly staff and nice restaurant as well. Highly recommended for budget stay and/or 1 or 2 days of business or pleasure.
Hotel is close to Haymarket station and it’s also easy to catch a bus or walk into the city centre. Staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately there was a long wait for checkin and a lot of people complaining their keys didn’t work or their rooms weren’t ready. I had a large quiet room on the third floor. Felt it could have been a little bit cleaner but the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a good choice of ingredients although not a lot in the way of hot vegetarian options. Would I stay again? Not sure but the B&B deal through Agoda was good value considering Edinburgh prices.
