A Very Relaxed Holiday”
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms are super clean with well-stocked fridge and huge comfortable bed with nice white linen. I stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed the quiet jungle setting, especially the swimming pool and the cooked breakfast was great. I recommend this place for anyone who likes peace and quiet, yet only 10 mins to Lamai and other attractions. They have car and bike rentals as well.
Beautiful Location - Great Price”
I found this place on Agoda, and booked it. There was a small issue with room availability, but the manager gladly upgraded us to a better room situation, which was perfect. Bed very comfortable. Room clean. Beautiful jungle setting. Nice pool. Great setting.
The ideal location to escape tourism”
First things first, The Fisherman's Chalet is in a perfect location - if you know what you are getting. We arrived not really knowing how isolated the chalet was. It's possible our isolation was heightened by the fact we went in May and the mini market next door was shut, as was the bar over the road and the one on the beach. There is a beach approximately a ten minute walk away but it isn't your typical Thailand beach. It is rocky and there's a lot of rubbish on the sand but it is empty and you can sit on the hammocks in absolute peace without anyone bothering you. A 20 minute walk brings you to the next resort on the beach front but you are a good four miles from the tourism bustle of Chaweng etc. It isn't walkable and a taxi to Chaweng Beach is 500 baht from the hotel. There are two food outlets next to the chalet where you can get breakfast and food. They aren't the cheapest (by Thai standards) but you'll get a good meal for 200 baht and if you stay a few days the staff will get to know you etc. You can rent a moped or car, which is what everyone seemed to do, but we didn't really fancy it. The hotel appears fairly new. It had the coldest aircon we'd encountered in Thailand. A huge room, porch way, power shower, TV, fridge etc. We were in chalet 17 and the wifi didn't reach - ordinarily I'd not care but there isn't much to do at the chalet so it would have been a nice addition. There's an infinity pool, which is great to wile the hours away in. The steps up to the chalets are steep but we are both young-ish (30 and 28) and able-bodied so we didn't have a problem. If you are looking for an escape from the madness of Chaweng or if you want to have a few days to relax, The Fisherman's Chalet is ideal. It has friendly, helpful staff and, while it isn't exactly authentic Thai culture, it is less westernised than the mess that is up in Chaweng.
I stayed at the Fisherman's chalet for 10 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the accommodation is basic, it is comfortable, clean and wonderful value for money. The rooms have air conditioning, hot water and are cleaned daily. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Nani who was fantastic with my boys. I would highly recommend a stay here for anyone on a tight budget.
Quite. Huge. ”
The resort is in remote area where you need car/bike to get here. Beach is not so far. Room is huge but keep in mind sea facing room is up on the hill where you will have to climb the stairs. Room for three can actually fit like 6 people if you bring extra mattress.
Wonderful place in a still beautiful area of Koh Samui”
When we arrived in Koh Samui we spent the first night in Mae Nam because everybody said they Bophut is the most beautiful area on the island. We left the day after because we really didn't like it. This resort instead is in a very peaceful part of Koh Samui, near Lamai (with the scooter) wich has a beautiful beach, but not in the caos. The Muslim village nearby is lovely. There are few restaurants close by that have good and fresh food. They rent scooters and are very helpful. The pool is awesome, the bungalow King size very King!!! I would definetely come back here!!!
Awesome place, next to the beach, awesome staff, I will come back. A bit far from the night life but there is taxi everywhere and the staff is happy to drive us anywhere we want. You can also rent scooter there.
Simple and laid back”
I requested ferry pick up but no one turned up. Than excuse on arrival was no email address which was proven in my request. Than I was told it was overbooked and I was given two nearby hotels to choose from. Inside of room wall at back of bed head board dusty. First night aircond was noisy & icing. On closer inspection, found filter & blower black with dirty. I decided as late and for my well being to clean blower. I informed manager next day. Fridge noisy so unplug to sleep. Bathroom connected & can hear loud conversations from next chalet. 2 window no insect netting so cannot open nor black out curtains so too bright. Cleaner did not come to replenish despite requesting this. Even when I informed manager, cleaner did not carry out this request at least two days. TV only English speaking movie channel has loads of interference esp in evening. Front door frame not sealed so insects can come in. Room had to be sprayed to reduce insects esp mosquiteos. Found a small scorpion walking on wc floor the first night. Water collect in a puddle when shower so whole floor wet. Wash basin base unstable so rock each time I use it. I find the manager friendly, approachable and apologetic but I think the laid back management style and maybe poor staffing levels meant standards are variable and managing seems disorganised. Restaurant do not open until 9 am so any plans to explore island earlier had to be rearrange unless eat else where which cause problem as place is isolated. The scooter I rented from hotel, first day did not start easily nor seat locked easily. Manager seemed to be busy with laundry and reflect on managing booking, reading request and monitoring standards as staff including restaurant too laid back though respond to manager when I request or provide feed back. I was told pool not closed but one evening esp when manager not in pool lights were off at 7pm.
The Fisherman's Chalet”
veeeeery friendly staff who helped us with everything. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The infinity pool has salt water. It is obvious that they care about the whole area. Also the staff in the restaurant is very nice and you have a big choice of different dishes. It is a very quiet place, but for our short stay it was perfect. You also have the possibility to rent a motorbike and it takes just a few minutes to go to Lamai City. We can definitely recommend this lovely place.
We arrived with three guys at the fishermans Chalet. After ko phangan and ko tao we searched for something more quiet and relaxing. The staff was very nice from the beginning. The Bungalows are super clean and the Air con is realy good. Every Day two small bottles of drinking water. We rented two Scooters for 3 days from the Hotel. It was the best Rent in our one month Thailand Trip. If you walk down from your Bungalow theres the fishermans restaurant. The Food was delicious and the staff was very nice. We definatly recommonend the Fishermans Chalet and would Love to come back.
If you are backpakers like us it can be long to reach the place cause when you take the tuk tuk , it s gonna drop you on the main road, 3 kms away from the place. We ve been lucky cause a couple of guys picked us up for a lift, otherwise we would have walked, is easier but more expensive if you take a cab. Anyway when you ll arrive you ll think whatever it was, the place is worth the trip! We had a nice room, with coffee and the, clean towels every day, bottled water every day, fridge, so you can buy some nice fruit for breakfast. Nice pool that you can use anytime. Walking distance to a minimarket and a few places to dine. The front beach is a kind of lagoon, very nice at the sunset, many local people and fishermen's boats. You can hire a scooter for 24 hours for 200 thb and with it you can go wherever you want, we d like to advise for a nice place to eat, right before the cross with themain road, on your right a little stall selling fruit (very nice) and just in front of it a little tipical place is gonna be a delicious surprise, only nice thai food! In the chalet the staff was really helpful and our stay was relaxing and awesome! Away from the crawded Chaweng, if we ll ever come back in Samui this it's gonna be our choice!
We had a very nice stay. The food was wonderful with very attentive wait staff. Rooms were very clean and nice, as was the pool. It is a bit far from the action of Samui but motos or taxis are available. As well the staff offered to drive us to nearby attractions and arrange for a taxi to bring us back. Also, a short drive away is Thailand's only Rum Distery where we had one of our best meals in Thailand prepared by their Belgian chef.
New clean, and ok”
Actual a very nice place for family's. Nightlife is not present at all, but a very nice Bar is present, called Cool Bar, can be reach by a walk. Fisherman Chalet is very quite and perfect place for relax
We stayed at the Fisherman's chalet for 3 nights, at the end of a 21 day tour of the Gulf islands and, although its location was rather too far from facilities like shops, travel agents etc. it was definitely our favourite hotel in terms of cleanliness, presentation and value for money. The associated restaurant, The Fisherman's Outlet, located right `next door to the hotel was also excellent - offering a wide range of Asian and European dishes, wonderfully fresh fish, very good value for money and very lovely staff. If you're looking for a lovely quiet and luxurious get away, far from the noise and bustle of the more developed North, we would highly recommend the Fisherman's Chalet.
Paradise in hell”
Was worried about reviews saying out of the way and no life..needn't have worried having seen lamai after our arrival...(our idea of hell...Ibiza for the elderly)...we loved Fishermans chalet...yes not much here but quiet...2 restaurants, 2 massage places, a beach & a beach bar 5 mins walk away......staff were great, site restaurant very good...we hired bikes from hotel and went where we wanted to go... One minor downside are steep steps to upper chalets..but with the bikes this was overcome...if you want Benidorm don't come here go to any of the main beaches....if you want peace & quiet it's perfect..also if you're looking for authentic Thailand...you won't find it on Kih Samui.....
A really nice quiet stay on busy Samui”
We liked it here a lot! The room was clean, the pool was very nice, everything was quiet, the restaurant was awesome, the hostes is very nice. You need a motorbike to explore the island, they rent it to you for 200B per day. The only thing that we didn't like was that there was no ventilation in the bathroom, so if you use the toilet you will smell it in the room. And the beach is nothing, we used the pool. Overall great value for money!
5 great days in Samui”
I spent 5 nights in Fisherman's Chalet and I was not disappointed. The hotel is small and the bungalows are simple but it makes for a calm and restful stay. The bungalows are clean, they have minimum but sufficient furniture, including a very comfortable bed. The swimming pool is a few steps away. From there you can enjoy the calm, the blue sky, the palm trees surrounding the hotel and the sea in the background. The staff is very nice and helpful. It's an excellent hotel given the price.
Great quiet undiscovered unspoiled”
Awesome stay. As you look at reviews. The most negative is that it is far away from the action, that was the positive for us, If you want nightlife, rent a scooter for 200 baht a day and go to it. Come home and enjoy solitude. The kindness and attentitive spirit of the staff was awesome. The palace is tucked away, two restaurants next to it, two massage places next to it. And lots of places to walk. It is near the butterfly garden if you a looking on a map. Cannot wait to go bCk, am likely to stay here again. Tge place is less than one year old
