I recently stayed at The Shilla Seoul for birthday and I can confidently say it was the best hotel experience I’ve had in the city. From the moment we arrived, everything from the elegant atmosphere to the thoughtful service exceeded expectations. We were celebrating my fiancée’s birthday, and although The Parkview buffet doesn’t offer special anniversary services, the staff still made us feel incredibly welcomed and cared for. The dinner itself was fantastic high-quality food, a beautiful setting, and a calm, luxurious ambiance. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed. Every detail, from the amenities to the view, was carefully curated to create a relaxing and refined stay. The hotel facilities are also top-tier, and the overall atmosphere is both peaceful and sophisticated. What stood out the most was the warmth and professionalism of the staff. Every team member we encountered was kind, courteous, and genuinely attentive. Thank you, Shilla Seoul, for an unforgettable stay. I will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly exceptional experience in Seoul.
The room was clean and had a nice view of the Namsan Tower, and the bed was very cozy. The most of staffs at the hotel were all friendly and helpful, especially the service that took us from the lobby of the hotel on the hill to the parking tower next to the hotel's main gate, which was far away from the hill. The valet parking service made it convenient, but the fact that there was no separate service fee for the guests staying in the hotel, and the service fee was too expensive to use again. Actually, the parking fee for guests staying at the hotel is included in the room rate which means free parking. The indoor swimming pool (outdoor swimming pool does not seem to operate during the winter season) and the guest locker room were somewhat smaller even in the it is the big five-star hotel, and there were three swimming lanes, and one of the three lanes was membership-only, which were a bit inconvenient for non-member hotel guests. Also, there is a restaurant on the lobby floor right next to the elevator to the rooms, which was always crowded with a long waiting line by many customers.
The Shilla is an exceptional hotel, location, cleanliness, staff, rooms, food, service, friendliness, everything is superlative. We arrived late on a Saturday night from Incheon Airport after a long flight from Sydney. However the smiles on our faces on arrival with the welcome to Shilla mantra from everyone to the great atmosphere of the lobby then the absolute comfort of our room and a great nights rest ready to confront the next day relaxed and rejuvenated. Thanks to the Shilla’s attention to detail and if required cars and busses into Seoul, or a lift to the metro resulted in a very easy and relaxed but eventful stay.
I've had an excellent stay at this hotel. Lifts were easy to wait, concierge is helpful and friendly, rooms were very clean, amenities provided were ample and very sufficient, including bottled water. Breakfast restaurant was spacious with ample seating, staff were very attentive and served coffee right upon being led to the table. Breakfast spread was amazing and tasty as well, with a wide selection of cooked/hot food. Hotel itself was near a mini mall of its own but I didn't get to explore as I did not have time. The only downside is that the hotel is situated upon a slope/hill hence there is no convenience stores nearby (you will need to walk out quite far) but it provides serenity and privacy from the bustling city of Seoul. Will definitely choose The Shilla Seoul for my next visit to Korea!
I’ll get the two downsides out of the way: First, the hotel sits on a small-ish hill. This means that it discourages walking around. The subway is really close by, but you’re better off with a cab budget. Second, things at the hotel are very expensive. To be fair, this is a luxury hotel, but in some cases it was too much any way (19,000 KRW or around $19 CAD for a cup of coffee tops the list here). Outside of these two things, it’s all positive. The room was incredibly clean, the restaurants were top notch, and the amenities were great. The room had both 110v and 220v sockets, which was very convenient. The view was great. The gym had pretty much everything you’d need. Room service was on point and staff was very helpful. I would very much recommend Shilla Seoul
Love the stay with Shilla Seoul and the service provided were impeccable. Room was clean and shuttle bus was also provided to the nearest subway which is just a 3-5mins walk away. Definitely recommended and will be back. Thanks Shilla!

The Shilla Seoul is very conveniently located, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. It is right next to Line 3 of the subway, making it easy to get to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Myeongdong. The view is excellent, with Namsan Park and N Seoul Tower right outside the window. The staff are very friendly and helpful, assisting with luggage and making you feel genuinely welcome, which is refreshing compared to many hotels in Australia. The hotel also has its own duty free shopping mall next door. The gym and swimming pool are both very good.

We booked The Shilla for our first trip of the new year and wanted a 5 star experience. We definitely got what we wanted and more. Right from the moment we dropped off at the hotel, the welcoming staff attended to us and check in was a smooth and fast process. The hotel looked luxurious and the room was amazing. We were lucky enough to get a room with the view of Namsan tower and we loved it. What impressed me the most was how our room was made everytime. The attention to detail and the cleanliness was simply top notch. 10/10 would recommend and return. The Shilla Seoul has definitely won my heart.
We had the best time in Seoul while staying at The Shilla Seoul! The room has a great layout, comfortable and super clean. Housekeeping is meticulous, I love how they tidied up the things I left in the room respectfully. Hospitality in this hotel is the best that we’ve seen, from the moment you step into the lobby, everything is well taken care of, all staff are polite, professional, and always ready to help. The location is a bit of a challenge if you’re the type of traveller who likes to wonder around the hotel area, as the entrance to the hotel is a long uphill road from the main street. However, they have a shuttle car to take you to/from the lobby and Dongik Uni subway station , shuttle buses to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun. There’s a convenience store right on the bottom of the entrance on street level, and lots of restaurant options across the road. We had a very pleasant stay, and will definitely stay here the next time we’re in Seoul.
This was our 5th stay at the Shilla (usually we stayed more than a week at the Shilla whenever we visit Seoul), but this will be our last visit unfortunately. I personally travel a lot for work (Titanium member) and expected a lot from the hotel given the reputation and name. It still has its charm and we do love hospitality (mainly service by Shilla, room service, cleaners) but the hotel definitely lost its charm over time. This visit completely lost our love for the hotel unfortunately. The main complaint for me is 1) how many random visitors the hotel has - there are so many visitors for the hotel buffet at all times. This started really disrupted our stay when we had to wait for more than 15 mins for our breakfast. I feel that the hotel reception area is like Gwangjang market (full of random people) and this prevents the hotel from being a high end/ premium hotel. We both felt that the hotel prioritise random visitors/users of the buffet over people who actually stay at the hotel. They should really have separate areas for buffet or other business (this continuous disruption made me wonder what the main business purpose was) if they want to improve the guests’ experience. 2) gym - my friends who live in Seoul said that the Shilla gym is like a silver town. I don’t disagree with that. I understand that having wealthy, older gym members but just remember that this doesn’t improve the hotel guests’ experience. As a hotel guest, I felt ever so excluded from the gym staff and personal trainers as their sole purpose was to support their elderly clients. Unlike other hotels, the hotel also doesn’t let hotel guests use reformer pilates or have one-off class. This whole gym experience really made me wonder what the hotel wants to focus in terms of their business and where cash is generated from. 3) spa - previously we always got massages from the spa, but I was told that only service available is ‘sesin’ service. This also supports the 2) point and the hotel being known for being a silver town….what generation or target group are you interested in? The hotel not having a spa was blessing in disguise as we got the best massages from Four Seasons this time…I would have not had to look for outside if there was spa at the hotel. 4) extension - as my flight back to the UK was cancelled, I had to extend my stay by 1 night (8 nights stay became 9 nights). When I asked about the extension, I was asked to pay for the highest amount of charge for the same room (reservations team would know how much I had paid for my room). My expense for the additional night is being paid by the airline company so I do not care, but the whole approach from the hotel made me wonder if they really value customers and understand what they go through. I felt that, when I am at the difficult situation, what the hotel really cared is their own interest.
Had the pleasure of staying at The Shilla Seoul and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with exceptional service and a warm welcome. The room was spacious and clean. While the overall condition was excellent, some of the furniture felt a bit dated and could benefit from a minor update. Despite this, I particularly enjoyed the comfortable bed, the stunning mountain views, and the high-quality bathroom amenities. The staff were also consistently friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. I was particularly impressed with the promptness of room service, even at late hours. Overall a very pleasant and satisfied stay in Seoul Shilla. Would definitely recommend!

The hotel is very classy and elegant. Interior is beautiful and room in clean. The hotel is not very new but all facilities are well maintained and looks like has some history. The bedding is really comfortable and luxurious. Room cleaning is very thoughtful. The subway station is walking distance and the distance didn't bother me at all. the hotel was near Mountain Namsan and it was a huge benefit to me.
Located at the heart of Seoul, the Shilla Seoul allows you to reach most of the metropolitan areas within 30 minutes by car. Hotel Rooms are clean, Gym is spacious and equipped with high-end machines and friendly staff. Heated swimming pool with Jacuzzi is phenomenal, breakfast buffet at Park View restaurant is my #1 breakfast choice in Seoul, there are so many other features that I did not describe here. I will revisit this place if there is a chance. I recommend booking this hotel through Agoda.
Had an amazing stay at the Shilla. Room was cosy, clean with premium amenities and had a great view. Service was exceptional. The lobby is up on a hill and the car park is some walking distance away but there are frequent shuttle buses to the main entrance, as well as to the carpark, subway and to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun which were super useful for getting around. The sauna and gym were amazing and there is a really zen and tranquil walking trail within the hotel grounds that is perfect for walking meditation. Will totally go back again the next time I’m in Seoul
I stayed at this hotel when I was in Seoul for a conference and some business meetings. The room is very clean, luxurious and comfortable, which is great to come back to after a long day.
A stunning hotel, great staff, useful information provided, well connected with the city. But there are inconveniences: the breakfast is finishing early, and the restaurant is not open for lunch at that time. The rooftop restaurants was closed at the same time, so I found myself without options to eat other than at bar. Not the best vibe and setting for a breakfast meal, considering this hotel positions itself as 5 star. The cocktail quality at the bar is very average. They changed it once on my polite feedback but they didn't use original ingredients for negroni, so they couldn't make it right no matter how much their tried. No connecting rooms, no large rooms suitable for families with kids, no kids facilities. Overall, looks like a place to come for a business meeting, defo to hold a wedding, or stay for 1 or 2 nights on holiday.

I have been to Seoul 4 times for the last 16 months. and this is the 1st time I stayed at the shilla at my latest visit and just tried it for one night with my best friend. I really love it ! More than the others 5 stars hotels that I used to stayed in all my 4 visits. I definitey will stay at the shilla in my future visits to korea. The price is very good for the hotel with such qualifications. Even much cheaper than the hotel I used to stayed. The staffs were very friendly and helpfull. I love the room, spacious and clean. Such a wonderful experience! The staff were super friendly and warm, and the ambience was so cozy and relaxing. The bed was amazingly soft 😴 and I loved the beautiful view of Namsan Tower from my room! The location is great too — right next to Shilla Duty-free and with a shuttle to the nearby subway station and Myeongdong, it’s super convenient! Will definitely stay here again next time I’m in Seoul 💕
As experienced travellers in Seoul who have stayed in multiple 5 and 4 star hotels, our stay at The Shilla has cemented their position as our number one hotel in Seoul. The quality of the rooms, hospitality and responsiveness of all the service staff blew us away, especially given the reasonable price point. The gym is better equipped than some commercial gyms, and attire and towels are provided as well. Located near Dongguk university exit, it is conveniently located near the tourist locations in Seoul, and the hotel provides complimentary shuttle bus services to and fro the train station, Dongdaemun and even Myeongdong! Would wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking for accommodations in Seoul to give The Shilla Seoul a try!

The bonus about this hotel is you get to view couples getting married, which it's famous for. Must stay. It’s an experience piece that you can’t get elsewhere. The team here are all so helpful and professional. I was initially hesitant to book because I thought it’s not located at a walkable location to a train station etc. But the staff cars chauffeuring services are available on demand and also the shuttle buses are super helpful!

We stayed at the Sheila Seoul Hotel for three nights and left feeling underwhelmed. For the price we paid, there are far better options in Seoul. The hotel seems to rely on its past reputation as a luxury brand, but the reality is a dated property that doesn’t justify its cost. The outdoor swimming area (which requires an extra fee) was unimpressive—pale and lackluster compared to other hotels. Location-wise, the hotel is inconveniently situated, forcing us to rely on taxis to get anywhere, adding unnecessary expenses. Our room was small and ordinary, with decor that felt outdated - low ceilings and whlist the view of Namsan tower was great, this doesnt make up for the internal view of the room. While the staff were attentive and welcoming, this is standard service at most hotels and not a standout feature. The only real highlight was the breakfast buffet, which was quite good—but not enough to redeem the overall experience. In a city like Seoul with so many modern, well-located, and better-value hotels, we wouldn’t recommend the Sheila Seoul. It’s time for a major refresh or a price adjustment to match its actual offering. Whilst not a terrible experience, we felt that we should have stayed elsewhere at half the cost and double the luxury without having to pay for its past brand and reputation.
As a returnee, I still do highly recommend this hotel for its location, staff, and service However there are few things I ll like the hotel to consider 1. For long term staying guests like me, if they can vary their breakfast menu- eating same thing for two weeks wasn’t ideal 2. I wish they can consider having few spots at the restaurants for people who want to try it out Unless you make reservation a month or two ahead, it’s hard to enjoy their restaurants 3. If the hotel can consider having a different elevator route for people using their sauna and pool on the third place It feels awkward being in the elevator with people in their wet bathing suits and/or robes

Compared to other Seoul hotels I've stayed in, this one is by far the best, hands down. Exactly what one would expect from a 5-star property. The location is rather unremarkable, all the touristy sights are a bit far away, but there are regular free shuttle buses to the more lively neighbourhoods. The nearby Dongho-ro 24-gil is worth visiting for dinner, there are quite a few very reasonably priced places in there.
I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Hotel Shilla. I would love to return on my next visit to Seoul.
Need to use the local transit limousine service provide free by the hotel from the hotel entry to the hotel entrance! Exclusive service for indulgence but not good for budget travellers who uses the public transport.
I was worried about the location, but the free shuttle is very often and convenient to get to the subway station. The staff care for guests wonderfully. The walking trails near hotel and at the hotel were another thing that I love. All the amenities are perfect. Staying at the Silla Seoul made our honeymoon more memorable.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights (3/15-3/18). We booked an executive grand delux room with lounge access. Overall, our stay was great. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom amenities were great. The bidet was fantastic. The shower was spacious and had amazing water pressure. The view from our room was spectacular. The service at this hotel was top notch. We stored some of our luggages at the hotel for a few days before our actual check-in, and they kept them safe for us. We arrived around 2pm on the check-in day, and they swiftly checked us in. All the staff were professional. Housekeeping and laundry services were amazing. I do have to give extra shoutout to the incredible valet service!!! A gentleman helped us every morning to get a service car or cab. He greeted us with a bright smile and utmost sincerity everyday. He made us feel genuinely welcome and really special during our stay. This made a huge positive impact on our overall experience at this hotel, and frankly, the valet service alone made me put less weight on the shortcomings in other areas when considering staying here again in the future, as well as giving the overall rating 5/5 stars. While I give 5/5 stars for our overall stay, I do want to give an honest feedback because there’s always room for improvement. The executive lounge is an area that could use some improvement. There was something missing in a space that could be really special. While beautiful, the space is not that practical for dining, but just lounging around, as the word “lounge” may suggest. Most of the seats made you crouch over with bad posture and were not comfortable to sit up for actually dining (i.e., it was more like sitting on soft, low couches/chairs with a coffee table). The lounge, in my opinion, attempts to cater more to domestic guests wanting what they think is an upscale “western”experience. However, I found the vibe to be a little pretentious and not authentic. While the desserts here are apparently rated highly, they didn’t meet my expectations and really fell short. They served the strawberry shortcake in the lounge that is also sold in their pastry boutique. It was okay but not anything special. The bottom layer of the cake was actually dry on multiple pieces I tried on different days. The middle layers were mostly cream, and this may give people the illusion that the whole thing is moist when it isn’t. All the desserts were really generic, and a few things were not great. The food options were plenty during happy hour, but they weren’t cohesive and seemed a bit random at times. There were almost no Korean dishes (and no chopsticks anywhere), which I found to be strange, since it’s a hotel in Korea. I also found a dirty knife with crusty residue, which is quite frankly unacceptable. Most of the food was good, but the same day that we found the dirty knife, we also found a meatball that was still raw in the middle. On another night, however, the meatballs were thankfully cooked all the way through. The linen plate mat seemed impractical and was sliding constantly. It didn’t help the plates stay stationary. They were never ironed out properly and always seemed crooked. While we appreciate prompt service, there’s a fine line between being prompt and too quick, and it doesn’t always exude luxury- e.g., the plates were often cleared way too quickly and sometimes as soon as we put down our last bite (but still chewing). I think this could be slowed down some. Lastly, I would recommend booking this hotel during the week. We checked in on a Sunday, and it was so crowded (again, it doesn’t feel very luxurious or exclusive when you see a long line wrapped around the lobby for the dinner buffet or constantly have to fight your way through a large crowd of people in any area of the hotel). It was way too loud and chaotic. During the week was much more quiet and peaceful.
