Average hotel in the 2.5 to 3 star group. ”
It is tired and needs renovation. The room was "clean" but the buggest cockroach I have ever seen was resting on the ceiling. The room I was in had all the comforts one would want. TV, small bar fridge, clean linen, AC etc. But TV reception was poor and fridge dirty and should have been cleaned, the bathroom tiny and the shower water pressure left much to be desired. Getting the shower to work was an engineer's delight, but for a novice traveller, challenging. But the staff are super and very helpful and that makes up for a lot. They have a free shuttle to the airport 6 times a day and will meet you on arrival. The meeting part is really a good thing even if you are regular visitor to the Philippines. The driver who took me to the airport was looking Sebastian Vettel's job. But he was having difficulty in getting his van out of second gear even at 50 km's per hour. In and out of traffic, changing lanes blasting his horn at any car which got in his way, and seemed to be colour blind as even if the traffic light was red, he was honking his horn at the first car in the line to ignore the red??????

Adequate ”
Definitely value for money if your looking for an affordable stay in Manila. Staff are friendly enough as well. The "Fly The Bus" also leaves from here for those of you heading to Angeles or Subic.

Comfortable and adequate ”
Swagman is still a reasonable hotel since under new management of Oriental Hotels. The restaurant/bar has a nice atmosphere and has live music most nights. The staff are very good and helpful. It is still a bit pricey compared with other hotels, but overall it's OK. To be picky, the rooms have some small defects and the water pressure is a bit low on the 7th floor. Good shower with hot and cold water. Like most hotels, there is no plug for the hand basin...(I always pack 2 sizes in my accessories box). The bus service is still 600 peso to Angeles...no increase in 3 years...and available to non-residents. I like the location, close to the bay for cooler air, nearby Rizal Park, Robinsons Mall, and plenty of 'local entertainment '

FiledAirport Transfer”
I stayed at the Swagman Hotel only because they advertised a "free" airport-transfer. When I arrived at the airport in Manila, no one from the hotel was there to meet me. As a result, I had to pay a taxi 340 pesos. When I ask the hotel to reimburse me the 340 pesos, they told me that they could not do it because the transfer--that they advertised--was "free".

Good value hotel”
Much improved since new ownership. I had economy room which was clean and comfortable. Nice shower room with electric shower, so always hot. As is typical with many manila hotels, there was no hot water for the basin and no plug! Difficult for wet shaving. Excellent staff, good food, pleasant environment. Live music in the evenings. Mini bus service to Angeles City as well.

Good for Australians to get a small feel of home in a foreign country. Menue and Bar are good, also it is close to the Aquatic park and the memorial park.

Above average”
I first stayed at Swaggy in 1986, We booked this time as Swaggy picks you up at the airport, we had heavy bags, gifts for the family, so we did not want the hassle of Manila Airport. Well the Swaggy is trying, the room was painted in soothing colours, the bed sheets were a soft grey. Then the CR, toilet seat off the hinges, toilet leaking, 2 towels, no hand towels, no bath mat, 1 small soap. The lift??????? old one is broken, new one takes 2 people max. with baggage, took us 3 minutes to get in. Spent many happy times in this hotel when it was Australian managed, maybe they should for an Australian manager.

It's ok for a night or two”
I stayed in the Swagman because of the shuttle service to Angeles. The hotel itself is ok, although I found the general mood a little bit depressing. The area outside of the hotel is a bit dodgy at night time. It is convenient, however, when taking the shuttle the next day.
