A clean and conducive place to stay”

quiet, clean and comfortable

My stay in Swansea Backpackers was extremely satisfying. This hostel is really clean and the first impression of entering the place is that it is a quiet place. The friendly staff showed the place around and the room was nicely presented. I certainly enjoyed my stay here. However, for ladies who need to wash your hair, do not take long as they state that the shower will reduce its flow rate after 5 minutes of turning on.

Neat place in a nice town”

Clean, great location

Huge common area for kitchen, lounging, and dining. Clean and simple. Yummy food from pub next door with very reasonable price. Located near supermarket and petrol station. Few minutes drive from a quiet beautiful beach and ice cream parlour offering the best strawberry ice cream ever along with some fruit wine (situated on acres of land right on Tasman Highway). It has laundry and drying machine, cost $5 for each. I sincerely think wifi should be free. The pricing was a bit steep. Shower was timed to 5 minutes and water trickled afterwards. Had to turn it off, waited for timer to reset. I understand the concern on water and environment conservation, but it did get rather annoying.

Great location in the heart of Swansea ”

Great location, friendly staff, clean room

We stayed here for a one night and the location is excellent. The rooms are basic but for the price you can't really go wrong. A common room to watch tv and activities room. Would recommend this for anyone who wants to spend money on more than just accomodation. Cheap nights accommodation, it was perfect.

Cheap but missing some basic stuff”

Cheap place to stay in Swansea. I opted for a dorm bed. It is actually kinda like a capsule style hostel. Bed was comfortable but I would appreciate to have some kind of lockers with every bed so that you don't need to carry your valuables with you whenever you are not in the hostel. Wifi was never really working. We are in the 21st century and when you can't even receive or send simple e-mail because of slow connection, you can't called it the internet. Probably haven't seen this slow internet for over a decade. Kitchen could be cleaned more regularly. The same goes for bathroom. There wasn't even soap in the bathroom! Fridge in the kitchen for too small for all the guests so no space for everyone's things. On the positive side, friendly staff, big parking and walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants.

Clean and modern backpackers with cool asmosphese”

clean, new and modern

The caretaker guy is cool. The room is clean and airy with only bunk beds and a storage. The price includes linen, blanket and towels which is extra nice. Bathroom is good (two showers & two toilets) although the design is not the best. The only bit we wish can be improved is we shouldn't have to pay a room for 4 (while we are only two people) because that the only choice Agoda let us choose in the booking system

Poor staff”

cleanness, location

Swansea backpacker Staff rude Totally not care what guests are asking for and keep watching TV himself Staff keep boardcast loud music from his own phone @ lobby. Nuisance to others. Stove need to be charged, non sense for a hostel = discourage self cooking Staff place all washed linen on the floor before they fold them God, that equal then not washed at all The wifi is not free as stated on the webpage The room have no heater or heating blanket, freezing night There is only 2 shower for all ~20rooms and all the campervan users. I have wait 1+ hour before I can take shower. OMG And the staff won't let you use the disabled toilet even the long shower quene. will not recommend to others

Convenient location but very poor amenities”

Right beside the The Barkmill Tavern

Rooms were clean but very small. Room lighting at night was pretty much non-existent. Bunk beds squeak at every single body movement. Amenities are very poor considering the hostel is new - there are 2 male showers, 2 sinks, 2 male toilets and 1 urinal to cater for the entire hostel. No hooks behind the toilet doors and no dry area in the showers to place your towel and clean clothes. Shower cubicles are not much bigger than the toilets - leave your new clothes in the room if you want them to be dry. Not recommended.

We chose it because it was the cheapest option. Sheets smelled like they’d been put away damp so musty smell. Kitchen was very basic with outdated appliances. There was a security code to get in the front door and outside rooms but anyone could walk in round the back of the property and into the hostel

Above average”

Nice enough, but I won’t stay again. There are only two women’s toilets, which is pretty ridiculous. It led to some crazy queues and in one case I went next door to the bakery to use the loo. The rooms face out onto a central courtyard, which can get pretty noisy at night. There was a fight between a couple of men the first night we were there that lasted a couple of hours. The staff are pretty absent, which meant that the fight just kept going and going. The double room we were staying in only had a tiny window that didn’t open so it was stuffy and dark. The courtyard is cute, but the camping area and surrounds looked like a rubbish dump.
