Very clean and close to almost everything”
We booked 3 loft rooms for one night. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The staffs were friendly and accommodative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely like to stay here again when we come back to visit Penang.
Great location ”
It’s suit for the traveler who don’t have own transport or prefer take grab.
great location, nice interior and cozy. central of penang
not so great”
poor wifi in the rooms, a/c not that strong, tough to keep out the mosquitoes, have to go to the main hotel to get satisfactory service.
Maybe can add fridge at the room n iron
Beautifully restored but practical”
Just off busy road but unfortunately the electricity company had large vehicle park across narrow road and seemed to do testing? in early hours daily, generating noise. Fortunately my single bed room faces inner small court yard but back wall to alley? Corner of solid wooden bed jut out and my shin hit it several time until bruised and scanned. Seemed I am the only guest but Wi-Fi still weak. Quiet except vehicle and cleaning staff dragging furniture, slamming doors around 9am every morning waking me up. The solitary staff seem to luve there and sit in kitchen mainly but was good to discreetly tidy my room in afternoon when I go out. TV only showing local channels despite website claim cable/satellite. Provided filtered cold and hot water in kitchen with nice 3in1 coffee but nicer to have tea bags, sugar and creamer as another option. Penang state charges 2rm and national govn charges 10rm per night on top of SST and service charges?
Dear Wong, Thank you for taking your time to write us a review. We noted on your feedback and will improve the services accordingly. For the stay in Penang & Malacca, which happens to be the heritage states, all guests are required to pay the LGF of RM2.00-RM4.00 per room per night which is required by the local government rather than hotel. Some hotels has incorporated the LGF into their room rates and thus it's paid upon booking while others like us only collect upon check in. The MTT which only imposed since 1/9/2017 too is required by Federal government and hotels are asked collect on behalf from guests.Hope this clarify your enquiry and apologise for not explaining to while while checking in. Thank you and we hope to see you again in future.
Cosy place - a true homestay”
As I arrived late (past 10pm), I was relieved to see their staff already waiting for me. On getting into the room, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and tidy the room was - it exceeded my expectation. I enjoyed a good night's rest after a hot shower, in a well ventilated room (AC and fan). Had a good chat the next morning with their very friendly staff, Jennifer. Two minor drawbacks - (1) I didn't get the iron requested, and (2) I was charged a government tax of RM12 - Agoda's confirmation said it was RM2. Not sure which party was mistaken.
Dear Yuet, Thank you for taking your time to write us a review. We would like to apologise for didn't provide you the iron requested. As for the tourist tax of MYR10.00 per room per night, this new policy was implemented from September 2017 onwards and it's stated in most of the booking website available. We are sorry that our staff didn't explain details to you during your checked in to Sweet Cili hote. Once again thank you for your stay and hope to see you again in future. Best Regards, Spices Management.
Travel through time”
I like that the furniture and the settings of this boutique hotel. Very nicely decorated and the staff is very helpful. This hotel is under the same management of Spice Hotel nearby. Both are equally good. Well kept and maintained.
Poor Internet Connection”
We were a group of 6 staying for 2 nights at a double room and a quadruple room: - airport pickup almost an hour late, - lack of coordination between the reservation and the reception; - double room was humid/damp; - so many ants in the room; - internet connection was poor, it even has no internet connection from the 2nd night until the day after;
very enjoyable ”
a lovely room, lovely place. Not far from city center but not noisy. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I will stay here again for sure.
Great for big group holiday”
It's right smack centre in the tourist district so moving around is easy. Has the"old home" vibes instead of a modern outlook yet filled with convenience. Only bad part is the parking. Public parking.
The entire premise needs a total revamp from the people who run it right through to the ambience and interiors all of which are in a sorry state requiring immediate remedy to boost the feel of its original intent of a home boutique.
Staying 2 nights with a bunch of friends at sweet cili boutique. It seems that the boutique owner had put their effort on the interior design as well as the cleanliness of the homestay, we are totally in love with the overall environment .The room is spacious and comfortable .This is totally worth the money. The only con is that the homestay located within the old business street and there is quite a noise during early of the morning as we could hear the motorcycle sound keep passing by the homestay. But anyways, this is still acceptable for us. We would recommend others to drop by for this lovely homestay.
very cozy room, my room had windows in the garden and that room was quite. Nice polite staff. Staff is on duty only from 9 AM until 5 PM. They are asking for deposit on arrival (can be paid by credit card)
There's delicious duck meat koay teow soup in the corner of the street
Rooms are alright and it ends there! Do not expect any facilities cos there's none. Taking out shoes at the lobby leaving it there...???!!!??? I find it kinda silly. At night is kinda isolated and unsafe.
My stay was lovely. The staff was helpful and the room convenient and clean. My issue was with the wifi. Though I was located next to the reception area, the signal was weak and often went out. I had to utilize the reception area to get a proper signal. I'd stay again, especially if the wifi was stronger for the property.
Perfect for the price paid and it's real cozy and comfy staying here.
Overall it is a pleasant stay. The location of the hotel is very close to interesting places”
The hotel is close to many interesting places, walking distance to everywhere. The lobby is warm and cozy. The decor is very typical of Malay culture. We like it a lot. But one small thing is the hotel should have more info about money changer places, sim card. Wifi is also a bit slow.
not safe to walk alone at night. do keep a watch out.
