Love the room, except for the lack of power points. Power points were no where near the bed, and it's at very awkward positions near the TV/desk. One of the power point did not fit with the universal adapter. No USB charging ports. - 2 minutes walk to JingAn Metro Station. - Opposite the hotel there's a Family Mart and a row of restaurants. - 2 shopping malls beside the hotel
Still excellent after all these years”
We've been staying here for the past years and until now it's still great. Didn't avail of the breakfast though so can't comment there. But the staff, especially this one guy at the concierge were extremely helpful. Needed to look for an open China Unicom late at night and he went out of his way to find one. Rooms are still very clean. Only downside is since it is not that new, power outlets are scarce. Newer hotels have a lot with usb ports. Water pressure could be better. There's also one housekeeping old lady that's very annoying. Whenever she sees us in the room, she didn't care to leave and come back. She would actually start vacuming and cleaning, shooing us away.
Great location, though somewhat dated, quirky hotel that still manages to occasionally excel”
The hotel feels dated, with odd architectural and interior design choices for the rooms and limited facilities. The spa and buffet breakfast are strengths, along with the lovely staff, though you are better served by other major international brand hotels (if that's the level of service / value you are looking for) in the area.
Dear Jonathan: We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Swissôtel Grand Shanghai. We are pleased to know that you enjoy spa and breakfast. Swissôtel Grand Shanghai opened in 2008 and our team members make great effort to provide good service and good facilities to our valued guests. The hotel is in an upscale and prime area of the city with metro Lines 2 and 7 nearby and shopping malls around for leisure pleasure. Look forward to your next visit. Sophia Song Guest Experience Manager
Great location close to MRT subway nice area ”
Great location Views from rooms are not so good but a good place for business and tourists From the outside does not look much but inside this is a very nice hotel Breakfast reasonably good but limited for vegetarian foods. Good service great spa and pool area
Fabulous hotel in great location”
1 minute walk from the subway. Great rooms. Large thick new quality towels. Just 1 negative - the laundry service is ridiculously expensive - $100 for a few shirts, socks, underpants and a pair of shorts
Good Business Hotel”
Havent got to try most amenities but it is very well kept hotel with good service and everything you need in a room. Good service too as i had an early check in request- no issues there :) Appreciate it.
EXTREMELY SLOW Check in”
I have never experienced in any of the hotel where they ALLOWED you to wait for 15 minutes just for a check in. Out of 4 counters, they opened 2 for check in. Long queue and the other 2 counters don't bother to help the guests with check in. Their manager walking in and out without even paying a cent of how to prioritize the customers. I had to voice out to one of the concierge to do something about it. There are more options out of good hotel at good location out there.
Perfect location and close to subway station.
Strategic Location In Jing An District Close To Nanjing West Road”
The hotel is only 5 min's walk from the metro station. A convenience stall is across the street from the main entrance. Just a stone through away from Kerry Centre Shanghai. There are excellent food courts at the nearby malls. Facilities in the hotel are excellent which are inclusive of an indoor swimming pool and impressive whirlpool jacuzzi with hot and cool water. Strongly recommended for business travel and vacation.
Well situated and well maintained”
Hotel is next to JingAn Si station on line 2. It’s also next to the airport shuttle bus station line 2. There are a couple of branded good Malls and u can find food in those area. The hotel is well maintained and the front desk staffs were very helpful during my stay. It is a pity the rates were quite expensive and with breakfast not included
Convenient location ”
Walkable distance from Jing An subway station (#3 exit). Served by Lines 2 and 7. Line 2 goes from Pudong airport to Hongqiao Airport & Hongqiao High speed rail /train station. Subway fare from Pudong Airport to Jing An station is RMB 7. From Jing An to Hongqiao Airport or Hongqiao train station is RMB 4.
Great Stay at Swissotel”
If you are able to book the Swissotel in advance, the value for money is excellent. Superbe location right next to 2 subway lines, great facilities - sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi were much appreciated with the cold snowy Shanghai weather. Will definitely consider this hotel for my next visit in Shanghai
Great location, spacious rooms, hotel of choice”
Swissotel Grand Shanghai in the Jing An area of Shanghai is my hotel of choice whenever I'm in the city. It is located about a 45min drive from Pudong International Airport (which is far away from most of the central part of the city) but to get to the Bund area or the CBD of Lujiazui, it is only a mere few train stops away from the Jing An station on Metro Line 7. The hotel is located above the Jiu Guang mall so there is no shortage of food, restaurant and conveniences. There's a fairly new shopping centre across the road and the Nanjing East/West and Walking streets are either within walking distance or a train ride away. I've been upgraded to a Swiss Advantage room on a previous stay and that comes with the perks of free breakfast as well as the use of the business center with free morning and afternoon tea facilities. A perfect supplement to my trip and no complaints here. Swissotel Grand Shanghai has been my hotel of choice for the last few years now and I will continue to stay there whenever I visit Shanghai.
the location is in Jin'an, one of my favourite areas in Shanghai. it's close to everything, very convenient. Food, shopping, bars, temple, all around the area. And you can take airport bus, or subway to anywhere else. the hotel staff is nice and helpful.
An excellent clean hotel ”
Hotel was well run with efficient staff. The rooms and hotel is very modern in appearance Close to the key metro line between Pudong airport and the National exhibition centre. Lots of shops around the area Lower rooms may look out at a grubby small listed building that is in need of renovation.
Good hotel that is of International Standard”
The location is great with a Family Mart just across the street which one can get water, snacks etc... Tried the pool. Good for a short relaxing swim. One feedback though is the occasional sound/ noise from the windows or ceiling. Not sure if it is from the changes in temperature or strong wind or guests jumping up and down.
Exceptional Service, Good Value for Money”
The rooms were large, comfortable, and well equipped. Previously stayed at the Peninsula Shanghai. While our room at the Swissotel Grand is not as large, luxurious or well appointed, it was still well appointed for only a third of the price of the Peninsula. What impressed me the most is the service however as I felt they gave a more personal touch and was more attentive to us than the staff was at the Peninsula. The hotel offers excellent value for money and is not lacking in any aspect. I highly recommend it.
value for money and good location ”
good location best value for money in the region but lost to other 5 stars big brand in terms of room service, slow check in and check out as staff too along time to arrange invoice/paper work perhaps this is china and documents need longer time to process , took me 10mins just to enquire a problem and not enough staff to handle at the counter. but overall good service as work fast to handle my enquiry.
Solid choice for town centre accommodation”
I'm a repeat stayer, and as before, booked an executive suite for a week's stay in Shanghai. Free mini-bar replenished every day, nice lounge, great gym and swimming pool, and a location that gives you everything you need within a 5min walk; not much more one can ask for
