Great location, spacious rooms, hotel of choice”
Swissotel Grand Shanghai in the Jing An area of Shanghai is my hotel of choice whenever I'm in the city. It is located about a 45min drive from Pudong International Airport (which is far away from most of the central part of the city) but to get to the Bund area or the CBD of Lujiazui, it is only a mere few train stops away from the Jing An station on Metro Line 7. The hotel is located above the Jiu Guang mall so there is no shortage of food, restaurant and conveniences. There's a fairly new shopping centre across the road and the Nanjing East/West and Walking streets are either within walking distance or a train ride away. I've been upgraded to a Swiss Advantage room on a previous stay and that comes with the perks of free breakfast as well as the use of the business center with free morning and afternoon tea facilities. A perfect supplement to my trip and no complaints here. Swissotel Grand Shanghai has been my hotel of choice for the last few years now and I will continue to stay there whenever I visit Shanghai.
Conveniently located, comfy & a great stay!”
stayed 6 nights at the Swissotel Grand Shanghai in January 2014 and I have nothing but praise for the hotel. Having previously lived in Shanghai for up to 3 months each year, I knew the area well, which is partly why I picked the Swissotel Grand Shanghai in the Jing An district. The Jing An area is centrally located and connects to the main CBD via Metro Line 2. The hotel itself is located next to the Jiu Guang shopping mall and Metro Line 2 is at the basement, which makes it easy to get from the hotel to anywhere really! The shopping districts of West Nanjing Road is also located within walking distance to the hotel so you are never short of shops or restaurants. If you don't feel like traversing the whole of the West Nanjing Road shopping strip, you can take the metro one station away. The hotel is located in Puxi so give yourself at least 45mins to get to/from Pudong International Airport. In heavy Shanghai traffic, that can end up being 1hr+! I didn't have any meals at the hotel but there is a wide selection of restaurants and a steakhouse as well, which I think will be worth having a look at. The cleaning staff is polite and friendly and likewise for the concierge/front desk staff who were only too happy to help when I rang up to get extra room supplies or to fix a faulty lightbulb for the desk lamp.
the swissotel grand was perfect for our 4 nights in shanghai, the rooms were immaculate, spacious enough for needs. service was excellent. there was always someone available who spoke english. buffet breakfast was excellent with a large range of choices including a chef station for freshly cooked eggs of your choice, pancakes, noodles. location was just perfect and easy walking distance to nanjing road for shopping. if you do not feel like walking the taxis are so cheap ¥ (approx aus$). in the area there is a variety of food choices our favourite was grandma's kitchen around the corner from yuan road and a food hall downstairs in the gucci building on nanjing road which had a choice foods plus it was very clean. thoroughly enjoyed our stay highly recommended and would stay again.
Exceptional Service, Good Value for Money”
The rooms were large, comfortable, and well equipped. Previously stayed at the Peninsula Shanghai. While our room at the Swissotel Grand is not as large, luxurious or well appointed, it was still well appointed for only a third of the price of the Peninsula. What impressed me the most is the service however as I felt they gave a more personal touch and was more attentive to us than the staff was at the Peninsula. The hotel offers excellent value for money and is not lacking in any aspect. I highly recommend it.
I didn't get to see or use the pool since it was undergoing a month long maintenance. I really wanted to try to the pool. Gym facilities are modern and sufficient offer a large number of cardio equipment and modern, good weights machines. The rooms are excellent, very clean, huge bathrooms, and plenty of amenities (free water, free instant coffee, fridge, iron, house coats, etc.). The light switch set up is a little weird, but that's the only fault I can give the rooms. They were very well done. The lobby is big, and impressive (which is a nice environmental touch, but not critical to the stay). Location near Jing'an temple is perfect - near a major and convenient public transit hub that get's you all over Shanghai and is on the direct line to either airport. Great coffee shop just out the front entrance with a cozy library feel. Near major shopping and food.
My stay at the Swissotel Grand Shanghai was great, I really like this hotel. It is very well located near Jin An Temple. Many good restaurants and shopping stores around the hotel. The hotel is very clean and very confortable.
Modern spacious rooms, value for money”
This is the 2nd visit to shanghai and 2nd time we have stayed at swissotel. having tried a few other hotels in shanghai, all our future visits we will stay at swissotel. no other hotel as new or modern or centrally located is priced as well as swissotel. staff are english speaking an helpful. we asked for a free room upgrade and received it.
My stay at Swissotel Grand Shanghai was great, I really love to stay there. This hotel is perfect for business travelers, as well as tourists. The hotel is well located, close to Jin An Temple. I strongly recommend you this hotel.
Dream stay at Swissotel”
Our stay at Swissotel Shanghai was wonderful. It was convenient to downtown and shopping. Just 3 train stops (10 min) from peoples square and 15 min from the Bund. The staff is great. From the executive lounge manager and his staff to the concierge. The room was perfect; the bed very comfortable andseize of the room more than adequite. The executive lounge package was well worth the additional charge. Tea and cocktails were wonderful after a long dayof sightseeing and shopping. The entire hotel staff were there to please the guest and they fullfiled that goal. We'll be back in time for the world expo.
This was my first time staying in Swissotel in Shanghai. I lived in Premier King room and its room rate is reasonable for a five stars hotel. Good standard! I like the room and its design. The executive package for lodge and wifi are good. we managed to get two hours late check-out from a friendly staff we met on the first night. Overall, I am happy with the hotel and will return to the hotel. Chocolate cake served in the restaurant at the ground floor was delicious. Lovely! Will recommend to friends and colleagues.
Swiss hospitality in Shanghai”
i enjoyed my stay at swissotel. has a nice view of shanghai skyscrapers. very central and convenient location. near public transit, people's square, bund, nanjing road, temples, shanghai museum and garden. very night they do a turn down service with swiss chocolates and a note of wethaer forecast for the next day.the staff are very helpful and friendly. i would recommend to stay in this hotel when visiting shanghai.
Best location, amazing facility, best value ”
We recently stayed here for four nights with our 2 yo son. Really beautiful facility with clean rooms. Beds were comfortable, showers were excellent with strong water pressure. Many thoughtful free amenities. The hot tubs/suana/steam rooms were excellent to use after a long trip. Our son had a great time at the pool. Everything was very clean. Food via room service was decent but expect to pay much more including traveler tax. The location could not be better. There is a family mart just across the hotel to grab water/snacks on your way out. Three large shopping malls just steps away with luxury brands like tiffany and gucci. Jin ang temple just at the back of hotel and few steps to the subway (line2). Breakfast buffet is about 40$ /person, has complete western style (omelette station, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal) and chinese style (simple dimsum, noodle station, porridge). Breakfast was just okay. Friendly staff. Mostly foreigners. Everyone spoke english. Did not see very many families but staff were all very accommodating and friendly to our 2 year old. This is our favorite hotel so far in shanghai and will plan to come back next visit.
My stay at the Swissotel Grand Shanghai was fantastic. The staff was exceptional, and very accommodating. The room was very clean, and the decor was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other business travelers.
Great Stay at Swissotel”
If you are able to book the Swissotel in advance, the value for money is excellent. Superbe location right next to 2 subway lines, great facilities - sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi were much appreciated with the cold snowy Shanghai weather. Will definitely consider this hotel for my next visit in Shanghai
Front desk and staff spoke excellent English and were very courteous and accomodating throughout the whole stay. The room was very nice and clean. We appreciated the the various amenities that were included. We make frequent trips to Shanghai and have stayed at various hotels, we would rate the Swissotel as one of the best. We will most definitely return and stay here again.
Friendly and helpful staff with a ready smile.”
I arrived on the 27th June and weather was good, hovering around 20 to 24 range. The hotel is near major shopping malls and the Nanjing Xi Lu which makes shopping a breeze. A taxi ride from the hotel to the popular stretch of the Nanjing Xi Lu costs no more than 30 yuan and shops like H&M, Uniglo, Addidas and etc were offering discount and sales. I had a leisurely great stay in Shanghai at Swissotel surrounded with good food and shopping locations.
has all the characteristic trademarks of the swissotel brand - european decor, great service, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, an ability to speak better english than many other hotels in that range in shanghai ... the food was disappointing though. the room service menu is rather limited and the buffet spread each day left much to be desired.
great service ”
i really enjoyed staying at this hotel. very professional and well presented. great location and easy acces to public tranport. the breakfast was outstanding and the bar was fantastic.the staff are very helpful and always there for you. i will deffinitly stay at the swissotel on my next trip to shanghai
Safe, clean and excellent service”
Swissotel is to my taste one of the better hotels in Shanghai. Perfect location in Shanghai downtown, helpful staff, speaking pretty good english. Rooms are big, clean and fresh. Check in and check out fast and efficient. Best hotel I tried in Shanghai for sure
Super convenient location with great staff”
A friend and I stayed here for its proximity to a venue we were visiting. It is perfectly positioned for shopping, dining or visiting the Jing'an Temple. The room was very nice with comfortable beds and some of the most effective blackout curtains I've ever encountered. Our toilet kept running, but they were able to fix that after 2 attempts. We had dinner in their 2nd floor restaurant because I wanted authentic Swiss fondue. The salads we ordered were excellent, but the bar service took longer than it should have. The fondue also was not particularly tasty and I was disappointed that they didn't have fondue forks. When I returned home, I realised that I had left a pair of trousers in the room, so I called the hotel to see what could be done. Two days later, my clothes were mailed to me! Thank you so much!! I will definitely stay here again!
